As a business owner I’m very reluctant to leave negative reviews on someone else’s business. However, this time, it’s bad enough where I feel it is necessary. We went on 8/2, I hope they read this and try and make up for it/improve somehow. As far as the location, decor, music, and atmosphere…this place gets 5 stars. The highlight of the experience was the hostess. She was fun and tried to make the best of our situation since we didn’t have a reservation, the restaurant was very busy, and we really wanted to sit outside on the terrace. She gets a 5. We had to actually make a reservation and walk around downtown: We came back, were seated, but we can immediately tell tell they were busy and heavily understaffed. I also am sympathetic to the fact that it’s hard hiring people in our post-pandemic world. Needless to say, so waiter showed and it was an extremely long wait to simply even get a drink order in. It was finally taken by a plain clothed gentleman who we later were told was the owner. He took our order and we noticed he threw his helmet on, hopped on his Vespa, never to return again. We were like ok, now what, he’s gone lol. We had a very pleasant young man approach us, tell us the situation (he left, I’ll be taking over etc). Fine, no problem. You can tell he was trying to make the best of the situation since he was being pulled in 100 different directions as seemingly maybe the only waiter in the place. It took very long for even water/soft drinks to come out. Finally, our appetizer came out. It was the fried calamari. It was fine. Tasted good. Decent prep, good dipping Mayo etc. however, in comparison to other tables that we had seen order the calamari, our portion was probably about 1/2 that of other tables. At first, when it came out, I was like ok rent is high, portions will be small, but then when I saw others, they’re lacking consistency. Another problem was, the staff was very forgetful despite the restaurant’s price point is where attention to detail should start to become a “thing”. So we enjoyed our under-sized 1/2 order of calamari. Someone took the plate…then we waited and waited and waited. Our waiter checked in with us a couple times, thanking us for our patience, “I checked with downstairs, should only be a few more minutes.” He at the very least was kind of trying. But, from the conclusion of the appetizer to the main course it took about an hour and 15 mins for the food to finally arrive. (We ordered the whole meal at once) Sadly, the French fries were the highlight. I ordered the nearly $50 lobster rolls. Unfortunately, I got a tiny bit of lobster, still wet out of the can put on 2 on over-toasted dried out rolls. I knew they wouldn’t be huge because it’s an expensive ingredient. But, for 50 bucks, you’d expect maybe one big lump of meat harvested from a real lobster. No; these are the bits and pieces, from like I mentioned, straight out of the can. They were extremely bland, had zero seasoning or flavor. The water wetness of meat was quite unsettling. It came with a side of spicy Mayo, but it wasn’t enough to save it at all. Like I said, the buns were dried out and quite frankly, I’ve had better hotdog buns straight off the shelf from super C. So, one star for the lobster rolls. My wife ordered the grilled octopus. (Their most pop dish) I don’t like to complain. Her plate was ice cold. Her “grilled” octopus was just as cold. I have small hands and it looked like the 4 tentacles she received were about the size of my pinky each. If I recall, the price was like $40? The portion was TINY. it came with 4 small pieces of pita I believe. If the octopus was delicious, it would be a diff story, but it wasn’t. Again, hers too lacked any sort of recognizable seasoning on the meat. The other problem was, Goodyear F1 tires are a softer compound of rubber than what my wife received on her plate. They were EXTREMELY tough, hard, rubbery, chewy, bland, and ice cold. If I could give a zero stars for hers, I would. Other than a complementary meal, I don’t see us going back to give them a chance...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sea Salt in Montreal, and it was nothing short of a remarkable experience. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was welcomed by the warm and inviting ambiance that perfectly sets the stage for a memorable meal.

The interior is tastefully decorated with a modern nautical theme that evokes the essence of the sea without being over the top. The soft lighting and comfortable seating create a cozy yet elegant atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for both intimate dinners and gatherings with friends.

The service was impeccable. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the menu. Special mention goes to Enrik, the manager, who made our dining experience truly exceptional. His attention to detail and genuine hospitality were evident throughout the evening. He took the time to check on each table, ensuring everyone was enjoying their meal and providing personalized recommendations.

Now, onto the star of the show – the food. Sea Salt offers a diverse menu that celebrates the bounty of the ocean. I started with the octopus carpaccio, which was beautifully presented and incredibly fresh. The delicate flavors were enhanced by a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of sea salt, letting the quality of the ingredients shine through.

For the main course, I opted for the seafood risotto. It was a masterpiece. The risotto was creamy and perfectly cooked, infused with the rich flavors of lobster, scallops, and shrimp. Each bite was a delightful blend of textures and tastes that left me craving more.

Dessert was equally impressive. I chose the lemon tart, a light and refreshing end to a superb meal. The tart crust was perfectly crisp, and the lemon filling was a harmonious balance of sweet and tart.

Overall, Sea Salt exceeded my expectations in every way. The combination of exquisite cuisine, outstanding service, and a charming atmosphere makes it a standout dining destination in Montreal. Enrik's dedication to providing an unforgettable experience is evident in every detail. Whether you're a seafood lover or simply looking for an exceptional dining experience, Sea Salt is a must-visit. I can't wait to return and explore more of their...

We came to SeaSalt and Ceviche to celebrate my sisters 26th birthday. We had heard such great things about this restaurant and we were really excited to try it.

First off, the hostess at the front (with the long blond hair) practically ignored me and my significant other when we walked in and had asked for our table. I had to ask her twice for her to tell me it wasn't ready, she was practically brushing me off every time I asked. She then moved on to other things before I had to ask again for us to be seated. Secondly, to start things off "smoothly" we got our table 45 minutes late. Which was really frustrating because we had a reservation. Also most restaurants make sure that the previous party is gone before the next one arrives. Which they did not do. I had to be very pushy to get my table sooner.

The music was intended to create a great ambiance, which would have been okay if the volume wasn't as loud as a it is in a nightclub. To music was so loud to the point our waiter made mistakes on our orders because he couldn't hear us talk over the music. No one could hear themselves talk over the music. We basically sat there and yelled at each other over the music the whole night.

To continue, the service was horrible. There are way too many staff that are making inefficient use of their time. Also, our waiter didn't introduce himself to us when he first came to our table, did not come back and check if we enjoyed the food and to top things off, we could barely understand him when he spoke to us. Also, he was rude.

As for the food, I ordered the kale salad as a starter. The salad tasted ok. They kale was barely chopped in my plate, I actually had to cut the kale so I could take bites of my salad (and you charge me 14$ plus tax for this). Food was average, portions were very small for the price.

The decor is nice and all, the "Rosé all day" sign is cute for a great Instagram post, but that's all this place has going for them right now. There a plenty of other restaurants in the old port that are more...

The seafood and drinks are GREAT. The service is mind-numbingly slow, like unacceptably / confusingly slow during non-peak hours. After a certain number of guests, you’re forced to take a set menu. The appetizers were great, but the mains were very pub-like, with a ton of mid to low tier fries. The desserts were like the best you can get from the IGA bakery section. Oysters, drinks and apps were excellent like I said. One glass of wine took 50-60 minutes to land (with 3 reminders on our end), but we were given that one for free which was kind. Most drinks averaged 20-25 minutes. They told us they’d put us in the terrace if I the weather was nice but never did, which is forgivable but a bit disappointing. The whole ordeal was 4.5h. The process of asking for bills and having them land (not including the time it took to process each person) was 40-50 minutes. The waiters made no mistakes, which was impressive for a large group. Overall I’d come back with one person as I’d like to try more seafood and not the mid set menu. I also suspect it will be a bit faster with two, but I’ll have to clock off 3+ hours just in case. I tipped 15% (the machines start at 18) because it was unacceptable service, but still a generally pleasant experience (the end felt like I was trapped, desperate to pay my bill and leave for close to an hour). I feel icky tipping 15 but it was definitely service-purgatory at most points.

I've been here twice and twice during summer time. This place is abit pricey but I really love it. My favorite drink is the seasalt Ceasar, I really love it, it's one of the best Ceasars in MTL, it comes with the 2 oysters, a jumbo shrimp and some other garnishes, this is a cost of 36$. Both times I've been I have sat at the patio which is really nice. This time we came on a hot Saturday for lunch, it was full house on the patio but we were able to get seated right away, with no reservations which was nice. The waiter was nice but the service was really slow but we didn't complain because we were outside and just hanging out. For this time we got the octopus and the lobster roll. Both of them were good. They are generous with the lobster which is nice because some places they aren't, although I found that it was abit bland, it was still better then other places for a cost of 43$. I really loved the octopus tho, the combination was really well balanced. I've also had the oysters, the mussels, the salmon tartare, the crab cakes And the calamari, and these were also really good. This is a place that I love for seafood, I wouldn't go all the time because of the price list but once in a while. I definitely suggest this place for anyone that loves seafood, I think the seafood is very fresh and it's a nice vibe

Trendy spot in Old Montreal, great for lunch, dinners can be a bit more of a challenge (crowded and loud). Tad bit expensive for what it is, but I guess you pay for the cool location on the corner of de la Commune and Place Royale. Lunch on the oversized terrace is pleasant; reservations not really needed for a lunch hour meal. My go-to lunch meal combo is the grilled cheese with Fior di Latte, Truffle, Speck, Brown Butter, paired with a Rosé All Grey spritz. I did try their Fried Chicken, which didn’t resemble anything of a proper fried chicken, but the side of creamy potato salad with shrimp and bacon saved the day. Menu changes slightly for dinner, and my faves for 5 à 7 munchies are the Patatas Bravas, Tacos de Camerones, Ceviche or the Octopus & Shrimp Salad. Portions are not too big, but again, find the price a little too steep for what it is. An evening out here can get pretty expensive, pretty quick. Overall, the location is perfect, the staff is friendly and efficient, and I’ll keep coming here to spend my money in the summer specifically to park myself on the terrace to sip on a spritz and people watch at lunch time. Worth it to note: washroom is all-gender, which can be a good thing or bad thing depending on how many tipsy folks are line in front of you.
