We arrived at this restaurant as three Black women, excited to enjoy a special deal they were offering. From the beginning, we were transparent with our server about our reason for coming. Shortly after taking our order, the server returned with bills and asked us to pay before we had received or eaten anything — something none of us had ever experienced in over two decades of dining in Canada. When we questioned this, she claimed it was because her shift was ending soon, which made little sense, especially considering she stayed working for another hour. No other tables, all of which were non-Black, were asked to prepay, which left us feeling singled out and deeply uncomfortable. It felt racially motivated… Adding to the issue, she asked two of us to tip 15% — before we had received ANY service. And the service we did receive was below any basic standard. We refilled our own water from a visible station and had to grab our own napkins because she never brought any. When she came to “check in” during the meal, she mumbled “good” and walked away without even waiting for a response. There was no attempt from the server or management to acknowledge or resolve the situation, just a cold excuse: “Our management told us to do this.” If that’s true, it’s even more troubling!!! It’s disheartening to be treated differently because of how we look — especially when we were polite, clear about our intentions, and just there to enjoy a meal like everyone else. Unfortunately, this experience has ensured we WILL NOT be returning, and I hope the restaurant takes a hard look at their policies and their staff’s treatment of...
Read moreNot sure where all these 5 star reviews are coming from. I visited here on a Tuesday at 730pm with only about 8 other patrons seated. Firstly, we waited 35 minutes for our drinks and food which came out wrong. I ordered a bulldog ($18), which according to the menu is a margarita with a corona flipped upside down in it. It came out with a DosX in its place. Funny considering the glowing corona sign in their window illuminating our table. Our guacamole ($12) consisted of approximately one half an avocado, two thin slices of raddish and a small circle of chips surrounding the 4oz of guacamole. Incredibly small for the price. The Al pastor tacos ($14) were very tiny, lacking flavor, and garnished with nothing more than a chunk of lime the size of my pinkie nail. When asked what took so long for our food, one of the staff members said they forgot about us, and another said they wasn’t true and that the soup ($8) we ordered takes a while to make. I’ve never heard of a soup taking 35 minutes to make at a restaurant. I’d hate to see if this place was busy how long the wait would be. When we got the bill, we were shocked to see that we were charged extra for a small side dish of chips ($2) to munch on considering all our main entrees did not fill us up. When presented with the card machine, a pre placed option of 20%,22%, or 25% were presented on the screen. so beware of this. This is robbery for the service we received. We manually tipped appropriately We won’t be back and recommend no one else wastes their time on this...
Read moreTACOS TIN TIN, located on Saint Denis Street in Montreal, offers Mexican food that is above average compared to other Mexican restaurants in the city. During my visit last Sunday in March 2023 around 6:00 p.m, I ordered a variety of dishes to try, starting with the Guacamole (12 CAD), which was average in taste. The Quesabirria (2 times) was the standout dish, with excellent flavor and a good price at 12 CAD per serving. The Quesadilla (10 CAD) was average in taste, but the Rib Eye Tacos (16 CAD) and Tacos Al Pastor(15 CAD) were good. The restaurant provided two types of salsa on the table, one mild and the other with a hotter flavor, both with good taste. The lemons they provided with the dishes were enough for each serving.
The portions were good and could easily feed 3 people with this same order. The food was of good quality and served at the right temperature. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere inside the restaurant was nice, with a Mexican theme and good music. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to enjoy some tacos with friends or by themselves. However, the food was saltier than i expected, which was the only downside.
The value for money at TACOS TIN TIN is fair, with a lot of food being served for the price. I would love to see some "frijoles rancheros" on the menu. Overall, TACOS TIN TIN is a good place to visit if you're looking for above-average Mexican food in the city with a friendly atmosphere and good value for money.
