Terrasse Le 419 - Vieux Port — Restaurant in Montreal

I don't think I've ever left a negative review and I'm not a complainer, but our experience here today was very difficult to overlook.

As someone who's worked in the food industry, I can attest that the venue was not exceptionally busy, plus, the staff did not seem like they were in a rush at all.

Our drinks came 15 minutes after we ordered (a house mix sangria and a regular coffee with milk), which isn't terrible, but the coffee also came cold which probably means it was ready for a while before being served (or just not fresh coffee that had already been sitting out?).

The food, though, took another 38 minutes after our drinks, meaning we had waited almost 1 hour for our one burger with fries and another plate with sliced tomatoes, onions, and buratta drizzled with sauce. The burger and fries were served cold. Additionally, we had asked for our burger to be cut in half so the two of us could share and the server had originally said that he would "check with the kitchen, but you can just cut it yourself." I wouldn't mind cutting it myself, if we were given cutlery. We were not given any until after our food was served and we had to request it.

Others around us had long wait times as well, although many tables were served faster than others (even when they ordered at similar times and had the same dishes).

When we served our food, I asked for the bill immediately because I suspected it would take a long time to get it. Our server silently dropped it off on our table on his way to cash out another group next to us, and instead of turning around with the machine directly to us, he left. I decided to pay cash as I had no hope for the machine anytime soon and I was right - he returned with the machine as we finished our meal and were almost ready to leave.

Overall, our server didn't do anything other than get our order, and then ask how everything was when handing me the POS machine, unaware that I had already paid 20 minutes prior, but the hostess seemed generally nice in our interactions with her.

One of the most memorable things was seeing the couple who sat next to us (who were seated about 15 minutes after us), get up and leave while waiting for their order, informing the hostess that it is because of the ridiculous wait time. She smiled, said nothing, and moved a different couple to their table once they left.

Waitress/ manager looked annoyed continuously rolling her eyes at everything. Made several clients feel uncomfortable looking at eachother in shock of her disrespect. My friend was served raw chicken. RAW. And then still was given a bill . I ordered a bottle of white wine, and the wAitress simply put two glasses on the table with the bottle , didn’t serve the wine, didn’t make us taste the wine, didn’t even asked us if the wine was to our taste. The waitress was extremely rude and did not speak respectfully towards the clientele. Did not wait till everyone was ready to order. Instead ordered plate by plate and would only come to the table every 10 minutes so everyone ate at different times.. if i could give 0 stars i would. This was the most inexperience and rude waitress I’ve ever had in my life and gave such a bad impression of her own restaurant. When it came to pay the check we waited 20 minutes for it, while we could see our waitress sitting inside speaking to her coworker. When we asked her why she was so unprofessional her excuse was that she worked 30 hours a week and that she was the manager and thats why she didn’t have time to serve the wine... let me just add that she only had about 15 clients and also 2-3 bus boys helping her ... do not come here you will be highly disappointed . My recent Valentine's Day supper at Terrasse 419 was nothing short of magical! Despite my last-minute reservation, the owners went above and beyond to secure a table for me, ensuring a memorable evening. The surf and turf dish I ordered was hands down the best I've ever had in Montreal, combining succulent flavours that left me craving for more. Picture this: the server skillfully cutting steaks right in front of you, akin to the iconic Salt Bae, but at a fraction of the cost and with even more mouthwatering flavour.

Terrasse 419 has undoubtedly earned its reputation as one of the best spots in Montreal for a romantic dining experience in my books. Whether it's a special occasion like Valentine's Day or a casual evening out, this hidden gem promises an unforgettable culinary journey.
