Voiles en Voiles A Review by Hassan Hawash A Great Parkour Adventure! I was at a loose end looking to fill in a block of time on the Saturday afternoon before the Hab’s game later that evening when I came across Voiles en Voiles. I had been doing a search for fun kid’s activities and the search kept coming back to Voiles en Voiles and what a find it was! The Voiles en Voiles website provides all sorts of options for a fun outing especially for high octane energy kids who enjoy exerting themselves. The more I envisioned this activity the more I was sold on chancing it. I can assure you my ten-year-old could hardly get enough. Even after four hours, he wanted to do more. There are various options one can choose from but knowing my son I thought it was a pretty good gamble to go for four. My lil fella could not get enough. At first he was a little tentative, a little apprehensive, but as the afternoon progressed and as his confidence grew so did his willingness to challenge at the higher levels. This parkour course, spread across two pirate ships, has five levels starting off for those who are faint at heart progressing to those who are ready for heart palpitating adventure on tight ropes. To be sure, all safety is taken into account as each participant is outfitted with a secure contraption with an attachment to a pulley. Before starting out there is an attendant who informs the participants as to how the flow of the activity should take place and takes the time to make sure everyone is securely fitted with their safety device. There are attendants at each of the stations who are ready to give a little guidance as well. For starters, there is a real beginner level where one hardly rises beyond the surface which could be likened to putting your toes in the water at the lake. Then, once you feel you are ready for some adventure you could take it to the next level where most first-time kids and adults start. There you find yourself letting yourself swoosh from a sitting position across to a station some twenty feet away. As my son gained confidence and his enthusiasm became more charged, he would move up to the more intense challenging levels. I marveled at how well he managed as he would stumble and fall but get right back up again with minimal support from the structure walking along the tight rope at the double black diamond level, the most demanding of all. The experience was unique in that it was not in an indoor setting where we have done something kind of similar at Adventure HQ in the Emirates and also different from setting nestled in amongst trees. We loved the setting in Old Montreal with easy access to all sorts of nearby restaurants close by. No doubt the next time we are in Montreal we will be sure to pay Voiles en Voiles a visit.

As a dad of two young kids, I can honestly say Voiles en Voiles was the highlight of our Montreal trip. We visited on August 6, and walking into the park felt like stepping into a real-life Peter Pan adventure with pirate ships, rope courses, zip-lines. The park was just magical for the kids but what really stood out was one incredible staff member, Abby. Both of my kids had moments where the height got a little intimidating for them but Abby was just phenomenal. She didn’t just offer quick encouragement and moved on. She stayed with them, held their hands when needed and gave them gentle confidence boost to help them get through the course. She even did the zip-line with my daughter to help her feel safe. Thanks to Abby’s kindness and patience, what could’ve been a scary memory turned into a confidence-building adventure. By the end of the night, both of our kids were asking if we could come back the next day. Huge thanks to the Voiles en Voiles team, and especially our hero, Abby. You made our family’s night, and your impact on our kids will stick with them.

Our kids love this place. We get them seasonal memberships every year. BUT on a hot day you will suffer. There is almost no shade. Especially if your children want to play in the bouncy castle area. There are a few chairs around for the parents to sit with 1 single umbrella. So expect to fry like an egg while your children are playing. The other complain is that they don’t operate the escape rooms any more but they were still advertised on the website when we bought their memberships. Water fountain does not work, but if you ask the employee at the little kiosk they will gladly fill it up for you. Many times in hot days we expected that the water bouncy castle would operate, so the kids can cool down, but most days they either wouldn’t work, or it would only be turned on late in the day and be very dirty. The employees are all very polite and kind. I feel bad for them standing out in the sun all day. I feel like the owners can do better.

We were only in Montreal for the day and wanted something fun for the kids. A friend recommended this aerial adventure park so we booked. It is definitely on the expensive side, no doubt about that. My kids are not fantastic with heights (ages 10 and almost 7) so they were both okay with the lowest level but the next one above, which looks about 10 feet up, my older one backed down almost straight away and the younger one did one walk across (shouting about it being 'torture' the whole time haha) and refused to do more. So we were initially pretty disappointed that we'd paid out all that money (we got the big adventure so it was about $120 for both kids for the four hours). Eventually we noticed there are a few zip lines, and the one at the middle level you don't have to actually traverse any heights to do it, you just go up the stairs and clip in, then clip out and go down the slide at the other end. Once they discovered that, they were happy, and went on it a lot. They also reluctantly agreed to try the climbing wall and did okay there. They liked the inflatables and even seemed to enjoy the 3D movie.

The staff were lovely, really relaxed but professional, great with kids and made sure everyone was safe and happy as best they could. There are tons of different options for seating in the shade in the pirate ship area so even though it was insanely hot, like 32 feels like 42 the day we went, hubby and I sat in the shade with cool drinks and watched the kids go on the zip line etc. We didn't get tickets ourselves, we were there to watch, although hubby said he wished he'd booked in as it looked like a lot of fun and kids and adults alike were loving it.

My advice to anyone considering is to be sure you are good with heights first, as if you can't cope, it might feel like a bit of a waste of money! If you have only little kids, you might be disappointed with the lack of shade in the seating area where the inflatables and carousel are, but the aerial park area was like an oasis, you could totally relax while the kids enjoy. Overall, as good an experience as possible for a family who aren't super into...
