We had a terrible experience yesterday at kalavara at Niagara Falls. We visited the restaurant after seeing the raving reviews on Google but our experience did not live up to the expectations making us wonder if the reviews are fake.
We were a party of 4 people. Three of us opted for dinner buffet at 24.99$ and our elderly mom only wanted one porotta which was ordered separately. What we noticed immediately was the quality difference in the porotta in the buffet and the one ordered separately. While the porotta ordered separately was hot and flaky , the ones in the buffet was literally cold and hard and honestly even tasted bad. When asked about the quality difference to the staff they said that’s what they serve for buffet and the fresh porotta are not included in the buffet. So disappointed as like most Malayalis porotta and beef is what we were craving for and made us choose to go to Kalavara in the first place. We have been to many Indian and Kerala buffet across Ontario, but this was by far the worst experience. Only one fresh fruit and one dessert in the buffet. Not even ice creams.
The food in the buffet was cold and we noticed that it wasn’t been replenished by the staff at all the whole time we were there. The biriyani tasted absolutely subpar and the curries lacked flavour.
To top it all off, when I ordered a tea at the end of the meal, the TEA was served with SALT in it !!!!
All in all we were absolutely disappointed with the quality of the meal and never coming back nor are we recommending this place to any one. Having spent 28$ per person for dinner this was a total money grab for the quality...
Read moreAn Unforgettable Dining Experience Near the Falls! Kalavara by the Falls is an absolute gem tucked just minutes from the breathtaking Niagara Falls. Myself and my father in law was at Niagra, visiting for 2 days. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy, inviting atmosphere that made us feel right at home. A shout out to Honey Joseph, who was exceptional at customer service.
The menu is a celebration of authentic South Indian food and every dish we tried was bursting with spices and cooked to perfection. The biryani was fragrant and flavorful, and the butter chicken had just the right balance of spice and richness.
What truly sets Kalavara apart is the attention to detail and the quality of ingredients. You can tell everything is made fresh, and with care.
Whether you're a tourist looking for something special after a day exploring the falls or a local craving bold, satisfying flavors, Kalavara by the Falls is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be...
Read moreI had the buffet. Starting with appetisers, pani puri was ok, samosa was good, spring rolls and french fries were just ok. The mutton biryani was too good. Chicken biryani was also good but the mutton biryani stole the show. Next I had matta rice with shrimp and mango curry, too good! Thoran, sambar was also authentic. Payasam was watery so was soya chaap. Appam and chicken curry was also yum. The plates were too small which meant getting up multiple times to sample everything in the buffet, 25$ for buffet does not do justice. I have had buffet from othr places for same rate but with more options including fish dishes .My husband ordered porotta and beef and he loved it as well. 13$ well spent. I was disappointed with the kids menu- nuggets and fries. She did not touch it. We had ordered drinks which we only got towards the end of our meal. There is a lot of room for...
