This is NOT a AUTISM FRIENDLY ATTRACTIONS!
I have 2 ASD kids: one verbal and one non-verbal kid who both loves dinosaurs. We travelled from Montreal just to see this dinosaurs. We don't play golf and we just went to see the dinosaurs upclose as my son what's to admire/see them near not outside the fence. ASD kids pay attention to details.
For people who might not know, most autistic kids don't have all the patience in the world. We are waiting patiently for our turn but my son wants to see the dinosaurs. My husband tried very hard to entertain him instead while I pay attention to my daughter. We saw an empty hole (nobody's playing) & proceed there to prevent meltdown from the kids, husband trying so hard to teach how to do golf.
And one lady staff came to us and told us we can't do that. We have to start from the first hole. We aplogized & explained the condition of the kids and honestly we just came to see the dinosaurs upclose. The staff responded "You can go outside and look on the side" I told her "we did that already and the kids wants to see it closer that's why we paid to go inside. We don't care about the golf part"
She replied "continue playing golf or leave" I begged her that the priority is dinosaurs not the golf. The shocking replied was "TEACH YOUR KIDS TO PLAY GOLF"
I was mad! How can you teach a level 3 ASD kid to play golf in the short period?! I was teaching my child the basic skills of life for years but don't get it let alone golf!! All we need that night was a little inclusion, compassion and consideration of the situation.
We decided to finish it early.
PS: a family of 5 behind us did same thing what we did. While waiting at the first hole, they jumped at empty hole and the same lady staff saw them and didn't approach/talk to them. She literally standing beside that hole . These family jumping from hole to hole (not in line) Why the staff only...

Read moreThe two stars are for location and also for your children thinking that the large Dino’s and erupting the volcano are cool. Also, a shout out to the friendly staff. Now, onto the bad…. There are no walkways on this course. So many families who decided that they could not finish the entire course are forced to just walk right over the greens as you try to golf. There is also very little seating - so if there is a big back up of golfers you are forced to stand there waiting for the others to putt. Also when we were there all the speakers placed around that were supposedly there to play prehistoric sounds just crackled. And while the volcano is neat however you can feel the flaming heat hit you all around the park(so I would avoid this place during the high heat of mid day). There are also wood chips landscaped in the park that find themselves all over the greens making it quite hard to get a clean shot. Some of the turf on some of the holes is also in disrepair. And I only noticed one garbage can- so litter seemed to be strewn about. My teenage son is a big fan of mini golf and we had far better luck on the other local...
