I recently had the opportunity to visit Hakka Khazana in Windsor, Ontario, and I must say that my experience was a mixed bag. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the restaurant's great vibe. The decor was modern and sleek, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately put me at ease. The lighting was dim but not too dim, and the background music was subtle but added to the overall ambiance.
The service was also top-notch. The server was friendly and attentive, taking the time to explain the menu and make recommendations. The staff were knowledgeable about the dishes and were happy to answer any questions we had. The service was prompt and efficient, with our food arriving in a timely manner.
Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to my expectations. I ordered the Lollipop Chicken and Schezwan Fried Rice, both of which I'd heard great things about. The Lollipop Chicken was very wet on the outside and tender on the inside, but the flavours were somewhat one-dimensional. The sauce was sweet and sticky, but it lacked a depth of flavour that I've come to expect from Hakka cuisine. The Schezwan Fried Rice was similarly underwhelming, with a lack of wok hei (the smoky flavour that comes from stir-frying over high heat) that I've experienced at other Hakka restaurants.
Don't get me wrong, the food was by no means bad. It was tolerable, and I finished both dishes without complaint. But given the hype surrounding Hakka Khazana, I was expecting something more. Maybe I just ordered the wrong dishes, or maybe the kitchen was having an off day. Whatever the reason, I left feeling somewhat disappointed.
Despite the food not living up to my expectations, I would still recommend Hakka Khazana to fans of Hakka cuisine. The atmosphere and service are top-notch, and the prices are reasonable. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day, or maybe I need to try some of their other dishes. Whatever the case, I'm willing to give them another shot in the future.
Overall, I'd give Hakka Khazana 3 out of 5 stars. While the atmosphere and service were great, the food was just average. If you're a fan of Hakka cuisine, it's worth checking out, but don't go in with sky-high...
Read morePLEASE read this before jumping to conclusions based on the last few reviews. I find the last 4 reviews ridiculous because it is a targeted review, They came together last night after the Canada Day Fireworks show. They were excited when the food came and finished almost all of it (no, I wasn't stalking, something you can't ignore), and took some home what is left. How did I know you ask? I was right there with friends on the other table enjoying my dinner after the Canada Day firework show. They were very happy and said "Very good, we came here multiple times before". The restaurant was supposed to be open until midnight, and the server went above and beyond to serve them even after midnight. With that being said, why they chose to give a bad review? I think they didn't like the fact that they were asked to pay a 15% gratuity since they were more than 6 people. We saw and heard the conversation, and not even once that the server raised his voice or sound rude(good job whatever that server's name is), in fact, it was the complete opposite they were super rude particularly that one "Princess" with a very annoying voice, she was loudest. When the guy offered to split the bill to avoid that 15% that "Princess" said "We should not have to offer, it's their job to ask us if we want to split the bill while we were on the table" (it's not their job by the way)I don't know what kind of entitlement that she thinks she has 😂. She was saying "I asked for a takeout bag, and you still didn't give me a bag" but the poor server was stuck with her other friend explaining the situation. I don't understand why they would take leftover food home if they puked the food they ate. wanted to confront them yesterday, but I thought it was not my place to jump into it, then I thought of becoming a keyboard warrior instead. 😂 Moral of the story is anyone can write a review online, good or bad, not realizing how much that review impacts...
