A fantastic little Asian fusion restaurant, with a next level chef, cooking everything fresh at the back of the restaurant facing the tables! The location is a family operated venture with the wait staff treating every customer like friends and family. I’ve returned multiple times each time I visit Kingston quarterly and am always made to feel appreciated for stopping by. If this restaurant was based only on experience I would still give it 5 stars, but it also has some of the most delicious food you will find in the city! The homestyle tonkatsu bento is the closest I’ve had to my mother in laws’ in Japan, and sushi offerings are prepared with perfect textured, temperate and flavoured sushi rice. Soups, sauces and presentation all have extra care, precision and detail to balance every main dish. Add to this, the reasonable pricing platform of the menu, and you’re left with an experience that anyone at any price point can afford to enjoy! Highly recommend going with a group though so you can try more dishes!!! Make sure to add this to your list of restaurants to visit! Just beware, it’s always packed! ☺️

After my first few times coming here it quickly became my favourite place to eat in downtown Kingston for sushi and ramen. You get a lot of food for the price; the prices range from being low to fair. While the restaurant itself is small, they also provide takeout if you'd rather grab some delicious food and go somewhere else. If you want to eat in though? It's a gamble on if the place will be busy, so I can't say to expect a wait or to be seated immediately: but I can say the food is EASILY worth the wait if there is one. The rice is fresh, the broth of the ramen is the best I've ever had and their tempura is fried in such a light and crunchy batter you'll want to go and stop in frequently. It's a great spot to bring friends or to order a meal and eat on your own, and it's close to everything else downtown. Parking can be a pain, but so long as there isn't an event going on you can park at the Leon's center and walk over. I've taken pictures from a good handful of different visits, and the food is always served looking great!

We had lunch here with our kids. The food was good, the first salad really helped stimulate appetite, I like the chicken yaki, it was good! The boom dynamite sushi roll was OK. My husband ordered a salmon bento box, which was a new item on the menu. Everything was fine before the bento box… We waited quite a time for it. And I forgot what it was included on the menu. So just simply compared to what we had bento box in other places. The seared salmon itself was good, but it was kind of tasteless, we thought maybe the chief forgot the sauce? And the bento box usually comes with rice, this one didn’t, but maybe it differs from others. And the soup came after we asked the waiter if a soup would included. Th waiter was nice, and he asked how the bento box was at the end, we told him our experience, he explained to us that the restaurant just changed chief today, so they may still in transition. Only got a chance to take a pic of the bento box.

Did not have the best experience for dinner tonight. My partner and I usually frequent Sima Sushi but since they were closed we went around the corner to Shuroop which we have never tried.

We got seated and greeted by our server and our drinks were brought out quickly. We then sat for about 20 minutes with our menus waiting for our server. She was a friendly person and apologized for the wait. Our order got sent through.

She then delivered my meal which was sashimi, and said my boyfriend’s meal would be out in a moment. It took at least fifteen minutes for his food to come out, I sat with my food in front of me as we both waited for his meal. My boyfriend and I both work in the restaurant service industry, he is a line cook and i am a server, and we have never heard of delivering only half of a meal to a table and making the other person wait at least ten minutes for their food. I overheard our server asking the sushi chef where our last part of our meal was or when it was coming out. I also never leave reviews at places but just felt compelled because of our negative experience

When his meal came out the salmon which was torched on top of the sushi tasted very strongly of gas or propane. I had one tiny piece of the salmon on top and the taste of gas was lingering in my mouth until the time we left.

The restaurant was very busy and the staff seemed stressed out and underprepared, so I thought the worst thing I could do was to complain about our meal. I heard the server apologizing to other tables about wait times on food.

Coming from two people who have been in the service industry for years, I would recommend going to a different sushi place. The staff seemed kind and the food was decent, it just doesn’t seem like they are prepared for busy evenings or dinner rushes.

I’d like to think it’s an issue of being understaffed and that they were just having an off night because the other reviews...

Inedible. A waste of money and unfortunately, having taken the route of contacting the restaurant, rather than first resorting to a poor review online, we were left with no other option than to lodge our complaint publicly.

It pains me to write this, especially in these challenging times, but I have now spent $95 plus delivery and tip and have been left with nothing to eat.

Sadly, when I contacted the restaurant regarding my experience they were unable, or unwilling to make proper service reparations.

Now, it is obvious that some menu items just don’t travel well, and I get that. Having said that, maki and miso soup do not fall into this category.

My partner and I were extremely disappointed in the quality of our food. The rice was terribly over cooked and the nori was soggy. Avocado was so overripe it was brown throughout, not simply oxidized from delivery time. One maki in particular came swimming in grease (?). I took one bite of the least offensive item, hoping to at least enjoy something, and spat it back out.

We have travelled to Japan, and frequent restaurants regularly. I would legitimately eat gas station sushi before this.

Hoping it was just an off night, and that this isn’t the standard offering.

A real shame that the restaurant couldn’t refund our order as a gesture in good faith as it would have been greatly valued.

On top of everything, a minor complaint truly, is that everything arrived in styrofoam. In this day and age I was disappointed to see this, especially knowing it impacted the overall quality of the food.

My recommendation? Go enjoy...

Ordered ramen for pickup and upon tasting the soup after returning home realized it was the wrong soup. They had made the wrong soup for me, so I called back and got them to make the right soup so that I could go pick it up. Once I arrived, I was given the right soup, and assumed I would be compensated for having driven to and from the restaurant four times, by being given the other soup (which I had already tried) for free. However, instead, I was spoken to rudely by the owner who informed me that I would have to buy it or else he would be throwing it out. I informed the owner that I was a loyal customer and go to the restaurant a couple times a week, and that it wasn't fair for me to have had to spend all of this money on gas for only one soup. The least they could have done was offer to have it delivered or to let me keep the original soup they had given me. I communicated this in the most respectful way possible. However, the owner was disinterested in all of my concerns, and acted arrogant. This is by far the worst service I have ever experienced by an owner, when the restaurant's mistakes had already cost me my entire night. I will not be going back to this restaurant due to my distrust in them, for one, because they were keeping a soup that I had tasted already, potentially to serve to another customer, and two, because of how disrespectful the owner is, and the terrible...
