Finally got to try this restaurant. A few months ago, my girlfriend and I walked past and it was full so we knew the food is good. I am Asian and I am highly acquainted with Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Korean, Singaporean, Malaysian and Indian cuisine. So for those folks that rated this place low, I challenged them. As in all restaurants, if you go when it’s busy, prepare to wait or move on and come back another day. Don’t rate the service. If you have tried the food and rated it poorly, give them another chance. Our experience was really good. Got a seat right away. Had the green tea. I ordered the Sima Lunch Special with the 6 pieces of sashimi, 6 sushi and 6 California roll. Fish was really fresh and excellent and the wasabi was soft and spicy. The tempura vegetable roll gave it a unique touch. My friend had the Chicken Teriyaki and the sauce complemented the chicken very well. Should have asked for the recipe. lol. Service was awesome and prices were fair and affordable. So if you are in the neighbourhood, please stop by. I don’t live in Kingston but I...

This place is my favorite place for sushi/sashimi and nigiri. Their ingredients are fresh, delicious and crafted with lots of attention for detail. I highly recommend their hotate (raw scorched scallops) as they are the only place in town that does it correctly and man are they fresh and delicious! All their fish is really good and they are generous with their portions. Another recommendation is the salmon tataki which they torch to perfection and served with their home made tataki sauce. Also highly recommend their chirasi bowl with a great assortment of fish and flavors. Out of this world flavors. Service is always great here and they keep the restaurant clean and tidy. They are a little pricey but I guarantee you it's worth it. I have been going here for 6 years now and they have kept...

I left a rather scathing review a few months ago. I went back today and was absolutely floored. The fish was delicious and sucullent, perfectly seasoned, tende, and the perfect just bellow room temp. temperature to release optimum flavour while maintaining that fresh bite. The rice was to die for, just the right blend of stickiness with no trace of mush. You could feel each tender grain rolling across your palate, press each one into the roof of your mouth. Service was spectacular as always, they serve delicious tea that's not watered down and the homemade salad dressing is a real treat. Like always sit at the sushi bar if you are on a first date so you have something to do if the conversation dies out. If you're with someone special get the table in the corner by the window for some...

Was last here for lunch yesterday, August 26th, 2024 but I’ve been many of times over the last few years. The food has always been good and never disappoints. My favourite thing to order for lunch and dinner is Sushi A at their respective times. I normally get take out, but when I do dine in, the service is always really good and the atmosphere is great. One thing to note is that they don’t rush when bringing out your food and it may be a 15-25 minute wait depending on what you ordered. I don’t mind though because sushi making is an art of its own and the chef’s should be allowed to take their time to perfect your order. Overall, I would highly recommend Sima Sushi for your next sushi craving while in Kingston!

The staff here and very nice and they are well educated on gluten free options. They even have gluten free soy sauce, if requested. The sushi is artistically put together and the atmosphere is cozy and lovely. The only reason that this place does not get 5 stars from me is that the rolls are too big! It becomes a challenge to get them in your mouth without them getting stuck in the back of your throat. It makes the experience less fun and I don't get to enjoy the taste as much. Still worth going though - especially for the Philadelphia Roll!
