Tried Street Momo for dine in after seeing its high rating and popularity for its special momos.
Since the restaurant is located along the street, parking outside it is very limited and so one will need to park at the parking lot that is at a walking distance from the restaurant.
The ambience is decent. The restaurant wasn’t fully occupied considering it was a Saturday evening. We found a nice table and soon one of the servers provided us with the menu.
We quickly decided on the dishes. Ordered Tandoori Momo, Veg Schezwan Noodles, Thai Fried Rice & Veg Manchurian.
The service was quick and we received all our items one after the other.
The Tandoori Momo was appetizing and well presented. However, it did not live up to my expectations. The different sauces/chutneys on the momos overpowered the taste of the momos. The momos were not soft and didn’t look as if they were actually roasted in a tandoor/clay oven. The veggie filling inside the momo was just average and not made how it is supposed to be. Based on the above observations, I felt the Tandoori Momo dish was overpriced.
The Thai Fried Rice tasted great but it was just a regular vegetable fried rice that is available in a Hakka Chinese menu. Also, there was no “egg” in it as specified in the ingredients. Quantity was quite good.
The Veg Schezwan Noodles were good and spicy. It could have been slightly better with the taste. Nevertheless, the quantity was pretty good for this dish as well.
The Veg Manchurian was delicious. The Manchurian balls were soft and tasty but lacked a bit of gravy.
When asked for Chilli vinegar as a condiment that is usually served with Hakka dishes, I was told they don’t serve it but have the spicy chilli sauce for momos. The sauce was dark and tasted pungent. It did not taste the way it is typically made.
Pricing of the dishes is mostly on the higher side. However, the service provided by the lady server was excellent. They kept checking on the food and for anything else we needed.
I will come back again to try some of the other items on their menu on...
Read moreFirst visit- We ordered the steam momos and chicken Manchurian and schezwan fried rice and asked for it to be spicy and gave them just one special instruction ie we want the momo first and the main course later after 5-10 mins. They ask us for any allergy we denied coz we didn’t have any. We wait for the food it didn’t take much time however even after making a simple request of sending the appetizer first and the main course later we get the fried rice first that too without the gravy. The gravy comes after 10 mins along with the momos that to after asking them and they had clearly forgotten about it in the mean time our fried rice gets cold. We didn’t say much we quietly ate it and we’re disappointed coz I don’t think we had asked for much. If that was no enough we asked for a takeout container and a lil chilly oil and momo chutney on the side cause we had left overs of the fried rice and the momo they denied even after clearly seeing that we had left over momo and fried rice. If we didn’t dine in or we were asking for extra and u were denying I would understand but I think atleast we deserve to get little sauce or chutney if there is left over and we are not asking to give extra just pack the left over chutney or chilly oil. Disappointed coz the second visit wasn’t any better same experience and when u ask the staff anything as in can I get extra chutney or bag all they say is might be next time how do u know we will come in next time. What kind of customer service is this. I don’t usually give bad reviews but this happ 2 times so I am pissed off and couldn’t help but right. The 3 stars are just for the food otherwise the staff I would just give...
Read moreStreet Momo is a gastronomic delight for the momo and the hakka aficionados, like me. They also have a whole section dedicated to Indian curries and breads. For those seeking an unforgettable dining experience that celebrates fusion cuisine crafted with love, Street Momo is an absolute must-visit. 🥰🥰
I had the pleasure of meeting the cherry-picked and talented crew of chefs from Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, led by the incredible head Chef Rajan, from Nepal. ❤️🙏🏻
Starting right down to business, we laid hands on the Madras Momos. The fusion of South Indian spices, aroma of curry leaves, mustard, and the rich fresh coconut in the gravy over the steamed vegetable momos was a true revelation. This is a must-eat, and I promise you – you won’t find it in Canada easily. 🙌🏻🥰
The Jhol Momos, paying homage to the flavours of Nepal, is another masterpiece at Street Momo. The steamed chicken momos were generously drenched in a simple, homely, soul-soothing tomato soupy gravy. Every spoon left me craving for more. 🤤🤩
The Tandoori Momos added a touch of subtle smoky char and saucy flavour. The tender chicken momos, marinated in a lip-smacking blend of yogurt and spices, were grilled to perfection. The accompanying chutneys elevated the experience. 🔥🔥
A delightful surprise was the Mango Salad, a refreshing contrast to the momo-centric menu, making it the choice of bowl for those seeking a lighter, yet equally satisfying, dish.
Their hakka-style Chow Mein is Indo-Chinese at its finest. Have the noodles with Chilli Paneer, and you are set for a spicy journey into the bylanes of Northern India. Equally recommended is their Pad Thai flat noodles...
