I was out looking for a restaurant that I have never been to. I came across this absolute gem of a spot. When first walking in you will notice how bright and clean the owners keep their restaurant. I was able to place my order quickly and have a cold beer while I waited. The owners were very friendly and took the time to have a pleasant conversation with me. Returning home I had a feast of a meal. The rice here was so full of flavor. I will be a returning customer here 100%. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Finally got to stop in for lunch (a steal of a deal at only $7.50!!!) I have had this on my wish list since I saw it one late night when it was closing and I had I one to go get it for me with kids asleep šŸ˜‚ Discovered the lunch specials and was able to try two on my list for the price of one! Got the sweet and sour chicken and General Tao which was my fav because it was so full of flavour and not just heat like most places! Also the option to swap your roll for a drink is absolutely top tier!

I ordered from here tonight and went outside my Comfort box and was immediately surprised and impressed. The quality and care that went into packaging to ensure the food was not crushed by the ā€œto-goā€ serving trays was greatly appreciated. I ordered through Skip the Dishes and my food arrived hot and tasty! I had ordered Hakka noodles (the Spicey ones) and was very good. All my Food was taste and flavourful. Will definitely be ordering from here again. They did not disappoint.

I just ordered food from Lucky Cho for the first and last time today. For a value of almost $50, the portions were decent, but the quality of the food was subpar. In fact, it was so bad that I feel that I must go through the list of items and describe the experience of eating them individually.

  1. General Tso’s Chicken. I should’ve known that this dish wouldn’t be spicy (or have any kind of sour and sour taste) when I was not asked whether I would like it spicy or mild. This chicken tasted more like it was simmered in gravy that would be better suited for a Thanksgiving feast.
  2. Fried Shrimp Wonton. These crusty little crab Rangoon-like morsels seriously lacked any shrimp and they were hard. My mother and I had to rip the extra crusty, hard batter that seemed to be guarding the miniscule amount of meat just to bit into the center and be met with utter disappointment due to a lack of flavor.
  3. Shrimp Lo Mein. Why did they even call this dish Shrimp Lo Mein? It should be called Vegetables with a hint of Noodles and Shrimp. And then when you finally find some noodles or shrimp, your taste buds tell you that the chef didn’t care enough to season this dish either! On top of that, the noodles had a grainy texture that really took the dish from a solid 0 to a -3!
  4. Shrimp fried rice. Probably the least disappointing of the dishes I had, but it’s still worth noting. As with the other dishes, the rice was bland without the soy sauce that I added. After I added my soy sauce, the rice wasn’t so bad but decent fried rice usually has a taste prior to any additions. I’ve definitely had better shrimp fried rice at other restaurants, so I’ll just be going to those spots from now. Overall, I feel very unlucky to have encountered Lucky Cho. I won’t even try the spring rolls or the wonton soup that I ordered. Even though it may seem like a waste of money, I feel that the best I can get out of this food is material to throw into the...

The absolutely worst Chinese food ever, and I've lived all over the world and tried all kinds of food but I have just wasted $70 on a night I didn't want to cook for my family, because I still ended up having to cook it over and Remix it. I had to strain the Singapore noodles and add meat to it since it had a dry rub poured into thw noodles with a strong flavor that isn't curry, nor consistent with Singapore noodles. The meat was supposed to be chicken, and I don't know who they think they're fooling, it was some dumplin or flour or cornstarch around a tiny piece of chicken from perhaps a thigh or drumstick, and I get that the economy is bad and people trying to cut costs, but it's gonna be at the cost of risking having to close cause the food tastes horrible. The texture was like soggy bread what they called chicken. Then was the beef and broccoli.. one small handful of beef hidden under and scattered through about a pound of broccoli. Smh. Then the chicken fried rice, again same meat substitute and no veggies. I ha to re-cook that as well with some frozen veggies added. For that price they could have bought a bag of frozen veggies for less than $5 and even added a handful if they wanted to skimp!

I want to go to the actual restaurant and get my money back... I'll update my review when I find out what the possibility and the answer is for those of you who are sorely disappointed.

People work hard for their money and when they want to treat themselves on a weekend and then get very sa because dinner has to take another hour to either re-cook or re-order from elsewhere, it is only fair they get some compensation for their time and money. When you pay for a product you...

this is the first time I’m writing a review of the food for a restaurant because I was so disappointed. Some of these reviews are glowing and I was so excited to try the food and had such high expectations. I can honestly say this is the WORST Chinese food I’ve had.

I’ve tried many restaurants over the years and being from Toronto, I know my Hakka/Chinese food. I’ve tried other restaurants in the Oshawa/Whitby area as well so I’m not basing this off of one try.

My mother and I got the dinner for 2 which is pretty standard with two spring rolls, a chicken fried rice, two entrees, two cans of pop and fortune cookies.

We got kung pao chicken and chilli chicken for the entrees. Chilli chicken is my favourite dish and I get it every single time I order hakka food. I could cry with how bad this food was. I couldn’t even tell what dishes I ordered because the taste was so off!! An odd flavour and little to no spice, sweet for some reason??? The rice was super dry and had barely anything in it also barely any chicken in the entrees and packed with vegetables. Seriously the worst.

Honestly don’t bother trying this place and I don’t know what these people are on saying that this restaurant is good y’all have to be lying or trying to help them get business (which they don’t deserve)

Instead try Fine Taste Hakka or The Zen and be happy with your food. I’ve tried both of these places several times and they do not disappoint especially Fine Taste.

Never ordering from Unlucky Cho ever...
