I recently visited Falafel Scoop in Ottawa, and it’s safe to say it exceeded my expectations. We were welcomed with friendly service as soon as we walked in, which made the whole experience even better.
I ordered a falafel sandwich, and it was massive and delicious. The falafel was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and perfectly spiced. The toppings were fresh and flavorful, and the pita was soft and warm, which tied everything together perfectly. The portion size was impressive—it left me satisfied.
In addition to falafel, they also serve shawarma and kabobs, giving customers a variety of Middle Eastern dishes to choose from. My wife opted for the chicken shawarma, and they served it in markouk bread, which was a great touch. The chicken was juicy, well-seasoned, and packed with flavor, and she couldn’t stop raving about how much she enjoyed it.
What stood out to us was the food and the overall experience. The prices are reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, and the service was fast and friendly. You can tell the staff takes pride in what they do, and it shows in the food and the atmosphere. Finding a place that serves authentic, high-quality meals at affordable prices is always nice.

Read moreI have eaten at many middle eastern restaurants across multiple cities and countries, and Falafel Scoop has to be the most tastiest and authentic of them all. Being vegetarians, it is difficult to feel welcomed in most restaurants, but the menu here was so veg friendly, that we were excited to try most of the menu! We ordered the Hot Fatteh bowl and the SAJ falafel sandwich platter. The portions of both the items were large (probably 1.5 meals per person). The Hot fatteh bowl is a must try. They did not spare any cost, but created the perfect dish with creamy hummus, chickpeas, veggies, pomegranates, roasted almonds, and pita chips. The SAJ sandwiches were delicious and the falafels were probably one of the best I've had in my life. They come with fresh and pickled veggies on the side and the entire eating experience was a delight. The restaurant deserves more foot traffic for dine-in and I would love to see these guys grow bigger. Highly recommended and would definitely visit every single time I go to Ottawa. If I lived in Ottawa I'd probably visit them at least...
Read moreWe saw this place while searching for parking to visit the parliament. After a tour, we retraced our steps in order to try it out. It is kind of a hole in the wall type place, and we often find those to be the best. We were not disappointed.
We had a chicken kabob family meal and it was terrific. We were in a rush and I regret not taking a picture. The generous portion of chicken was moist and deliciously seasoned. Some of the best French fries I have ever had have came from a Shwarma joint and the offerings here were as good as any and better than most.
Also included was rice, pickled veggies, a pretty good garlic sauce, and great pita bread.
The location was small with only a couple of tables for dining in. I assume that around typical meal times, you would be eating somewhere else.
All in, great experience. If we return to Ottawa, I would go again with more time. I wouldn't be surprised if they made an in house hot sauce that I would...
