TL/DR: No head on drafts, very expensive cocktails that aren't made properly/adequately. Can't speak for the food but I hear it's good. 1 star is for my experience (which was just a quick drink.) If you want some food, maybe give it a shot? Just order a soda though.
Paid 10.50 for a single moscow mule (no subs, just wanted to see what I'd get) that was basically a vodka soda with extra vodka. Couldn't even detect ginger beer beyond the vodka.
No mint, a lime, lots of ice in a full stainless steel glass and a paper straw (the worst offence, truly. If you refuse to use metal or plastic straws then just dont bother and make us drink from the glass. Glasses should be sanitized so shouldn’t be a problem anyway.) I'd expect a mint leaf at least for the price. I've had 6$ mules that came with that in much dingier bars in far more remote towns with better ginger beer yet. (Bonnyville, anyone?)
Rest of the group had draft that came with no head and lacing was NONEXISTENT. The freshly poured beer could have been passed as gingerale or apple juice. Maybe a lack of pouring experience by servers, maybe not beer clean glasses. Probably some of both.
For a "tavern" smack dab in the middle of downtown it was disappointing. Especially with the well appointed decor of the place.
Service was slow. Took over fifteen minutes just to get drafts and a mule (which should only be marginally longer than a good draft pour.)
Can't say anything about the food but it looked good from what I could see on other tables. Decent prices, good...
Read moreSo I walk into Victoria’s Tavern to pick up an order — not for myself, mind you, but for one of their actual paying customers. You know, the kind that expects their food hot and delivered on time?
Anyway, I stood there like a decorative plant by the door for 15 minutes while the wait staff held what I can only assume was a TED Talk in the corner. No “Hey, can I help you?”, no “Which app are you with?”, not even a side glance. Just vibes. And I’ve got news — this isn’t a one-time blooper. This is the routine.
Meanwhile, my app says “Wait outside until your order is ready.” Not sure if they meant “outside” the building or “outside” the realm of human acknowledgment, but I chose inside this time — silly me. I thought maybe this time would be different. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t.
Now, here’s the kicker — right on their door, there’s a big ol’ sign that says “Vic’s is for EVERYONE.” Every body, gender, race, orientation — everyone! Unless, of course, you’re a delivery driver. Then you’re basically invisible with legs.
So to all the lovely online customers out there — if your food shows up late or not-so-hot, please don’t throw shade at your delivery driver. We’re out here dodging traffic, weather, and neglect in equal measure.
Blame the tavern — or at least the chatty crew inside who seem to think customer service only counts if you’re...
Read moreI’ve enjoyed ordering from this restaurant in the past through DoorDash, so I decided to visit in person today while staying nearby hotel . I walked there despite the freezing weather (-22°C) I ordered a pick up and because I looked forward to grabbing the meal and have me a drink while I was waiting for the meal to be ready. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing due to poor customer service. When I arrived, I was waiting in the small entryway between the exterior and main doors, still outside the main restaurant area. A staff member with a noticeable nose piercing approached me and gestured dismissively, saying, ‘I’ll be with you in a second.’ Her tone and demeanor felt rude and unwelcoming, which immediately soured the experience. She didn’t bother to follow up or ask if I needed help, instead choosing to chat with someone else while I stood there feeling ignored and regretting my decision to come in. The restaurant was far from busy—there were more empty tables than occupied ones—so there was no apparent reason for the lack of attention or professionalism. I ended up deciding not to dine in or order food from there again.
I hope the management can address such behavior because it negatively impacts the overall experience. For now, I recommend sticking to online ordering if you enjoy their food but want to avoid this kind...
