A Week of Bliss for Seattleites in Richmond

HI on service?!? I had to take care of something in the Richmond area so decided on some hot pot to relax to. Arrived and greeted by the host, signed in on the iPad for the waiting list to be seated. During the wait, one of the hostess was going around handing out snacks and water to all the waiting guests, that’s nice to calm the waiting anxiety. The waiting area is consisted of seats, self serve little packaged snacks and ice water, and a charging station for smart phones. Finally got seated and fresh fruits were served while I scrolled through the iPad to place my order. Aprons were offered to wear to avoid any food stains and there were two self serve stations for sauces and fruits; one located at the central and one at the back of the dining area. Here were the food I ordered; 1. Double broth (pork bone broth & the new chicken coconut broth). Nice clear taste but I personally find the coconut broth a bit sweet for me, it indicated it was sweet but I just wanted to try it. 2. Wagyu boneless short ribs, prime boneless short ribs, marbled beef slices. All the meats were fresh, tender and buttery, nice! 3. Live Geoduck 2.5lbs. Fresh and nice sweet seafood taste, delicious. 4. Assorted meat balls, pork blood, quail eggs, shrimp paste wrapped in bamboo fungus. These are pretty basic so they are as they are supposed to be, however the pork blood comes with their signature crushed peanuts with spices to dip in. 5. Assorted vegetables. They were fresh. 6. Ice cream (complimentary for all guests). Opted out for dessert, was too full. This time around; the food was good as always, the vibe and atmosphere was extremely alive with dozens of birthday celebrations, and the services were literally a HI end 5 star experience. The serving staffs especially the one in charge of our section of the restaurant, he’s a “Johnny on the spot”, whenever needed he was miraculously there and thanks for always skimming the broth to assure its clear and freshness. I don’t give out 5 star ratings but this time I feel the need to otherwise it would be injustice. Many thanks to the staffs, especially “Cloud” for the attentive and amazing service plus a beautiful gift for Chinese Valentine’s Day (I had no idea it was Chinese Valentine’s Day). This place is highly recommended for great service and a high quality hot pot experience, definitely a repeat for me as always. P.S. now they offer a reward program, free to sign up, to accumulate points to redeem gifts such as coupons to iPads, etc…

Haidilao is famous for their food and the service that comes with that. Been here a few times now and it’s a great experience every time. Make sure you reserve a table online. It is quick and easy. Plenty of parking in the building. Waiting area is a nice lobby with a counter that provides complimentary snacks and drinks. There are also board games that you can borrow and play too while you wait. Wait time honestly varies by quite a bit depending on how big your party is I guess. It can range from being seated immediately or up to 1h 30min even with a reservation. Food is amazing as always. It’s a great place to go if you want to try authentic hot pot with a huge selection of broth and every kind of food. If you have a big group, the tables can be a bit small, but they have food trolleys beside your table to hold your dishes and drinks. Service is phenomenal as the servers are very attentive and caring. They offer hair ties, jacket covers, aprons, and many other amenities. If there are children, they offer toys too. They also give you free snacks if they see that you like them from the snack/sauce bar. The atmosphere is what you’d experience at a typical Chinese restaurant, lively, bustling, and a good kind of loud. There are often performances when people order noodles, at least a few birthday celebrations, and bian mian if you are lucky that day. Overall, it’s a good place for a hot pot dinner or if you want a good time. Pricing can be a bit high but I’d say it’s worth it for the food quality, taste, service, and a good night out with your friends/family. 10/10 would recommend and will go back again

You can't swing a cat without hitting a hot pot place in Richmond so to stand out, you have to be very good. This place is quite good, but I've had more memorable hotpot experiences in Richmond. This came highly, highly recommended and I can see why. It's modern, clean, fast, and high quality and very fresh ingredients. Not sure you can ask for anything more from a hotpot spot. For me, it was only okay because of the reliance on ipads for all the ordering. I know a lot of people like never speaking to serving staff, but I do find it helpful at a new place to get a sense of what I'm ordering. Perhaps if we had ordered from a human being, we wouldn't have ended up with way more food that we could ever possibly finish. Prices in Vancouver are high, so when I see a hot pot side of beef for $18 I just assume it's good beef, but probably not that much. Wrong! We got SO MUCH for our money here. And normally that is great, and I would be ecstatic except we ordered a lot and felt so wasteful not being able to finish. Some other hotpot places I've been to charge less for less, because the thing is: you can always order more. You can't order less once you've been served. Like, I can't see 12 prawns and say, "Oh, I only want 6 of those. Please give me half my money back, take back the rest of the shrimp, and serve them to someone else." No, they get thrown out. It's wasteful, both of food and my money. So, just be prepared, unlike us. The servings are huge for 1 or 2 people, but probably too small for adult men, or groups of 4+. The other problem about this is that when I have hot pot, I like to have a bit of everything. Not just a plate of beef. So, with sides this large, unless you're with a bigger party or you have an incredible appetite, there just isn't room for a little of everything. It's not possible. And considering most tables we're couples, not families or big friend groups, it's too bad they don't have a "half" option for all their sides. However for a group of 4 or more, I definitely think this place would be perfect. The chilli sauce at the self-serve station is not hot at all. Like, at all. Nothing at the station is, which originally I was annoyed about, until I tasted the mala spicy side of the broth we chose and almost died 😅. And we had ordered that less spicy than normal. I can't even imagine what regular heat level is. The robot thing is cute, but under-utilized or unnecessary, not sure which. When a human comes around with the robot and serves you anyway, I just am not sure I see the point in the robot giving you instructions on what to do. That said, I did appreciate the chance to talk to a human being, and our server was incredibly nice! One problem was there is NO leg room! I am not exactly tall and I could not fit in the booth. Very uncomfortable. Overall, it's a very good place, but lacked just something that would have made it really good to me. But had I known about the survelliance cameras spying on every table and sending data back to China... eh. Maybe we wouldn't have chosen this place at all. They lose a star for that.

Usually, restaurants would want you out the door after you've paid, but as we were getting ready to leave, our server Jack, went above and beyond and used hair ties to help roll up my yoga mat properly (as we came from yoga). Aside from hair ties (offered to keep hair out of the way and not for yoga mats (I can relate to both)), you also get wet lens wipes to clean your specs from the hot pot splashes. #SoExtra or #WellThoughtOut The kung-fu noodles served with a live hand-pulling noodle demo with their signature master dressed in white, is probably the most popular post you'd see on social media. However, we actually preferred the regular noodles as I find that the texture is tastier and more consistent. Highly recommend ordering those noodles! You can choose up to 4 different soup bases! The food was all very fresh and delicious, my favourites would have to be the beef, the fresh balls, the noodles, and the tofu strips from the sauce bar. Also, I love cilantro, so having that at the sauce bar gave me the option to eat as much as I wanted :) (unlimited congee and edamame beans as well) I've heard about the phenomenal wait times in which they provide various services (massages, gel nails, etc.) during the wait (at their restaurants in Asia). We came at 2pm and so we did not have to wait a second for seats (unfortunately). However, I did spot 2 massage chairs outside though not sure if they've started those services here yet. As crazy as it sounds, I'd like to come back next time and experience their wait line.
