I want to like this place. I really do. I've been here a handful of times and left disappointed or underwhelmed every time.
First of all, it's a nice location with a good atmosphere. Unfortunately that's where any praise ends.
The drink menu is underwhelming. For a place with a name with whiskey in it you'd think the drinks would be a bit more creative. Everything on the menu is something I could make at home for much cheaper, including one drink listed twice on the menu for some reason.
The food is overly garnished and dressed up, but bad quality food.
The experiences have been mediocre at best. On one occasion I waited a long time to get a drink, and the server took forever to come back after I finished it, then again to bring a bill. On another occasion I waited at at the host stand for about 5 minutes without seeing anyone but a bartender in the restaurant. The bartender did not acknowledge me or offer a table. By far the worst experience I had was while sitting on the patio. A table of extremely loud, drunk and rude patrons were sitting two tables away from my husband and I. They had about 8 people crammed into a table for 4. The table in between us had children at it. These customers were yelling at nearly everyone walking by the restaurant, yelling "hey bro" or something. At one point an altercation started between one man on the patio and a woman walking by the patio minding her business. The woman was clearly agitated and yelled back at the man. Instead of asking any of the drunk obnoxious patrons to leave or calm down, the manager threatened to call the cops on the woman outside the bar. When the manager tried to apologize to us for the woman we told him it was actually the drunk patrons that were ruining our experience. This was completely ignored. We haven't been back and...
Read moreReally disappointed with the experience we had here. I got the duck wraps which were ok not something I'd have again very little meat for the price you pay. My friend got the spring roll burger and side salad she really enjoyed the burger. My issue is when we went in I asked about a mocktale as I didn't want alcohol to which I was told any of the alcoholic cocktails could be made non alcoholic so I picked one. My friend was told there was only one type of salad a dilly beet one so she got that no mention of an upcharge. When we got the bill I found out the drink I ordered was charged as a regular cocktail to which I questioned and was told it was made with non alcoholic mix and was more expensive than regular cocktail now had I been told this from the beginning when I asked for a mocktale I would have just gotten a juice. My friend was then charged an upcharge of $2 for the salad which she also wasnt told about. I messaged the restaurant the next day told they would look into it and I never heard anything back. Im very disappointed in the way this all happened as I feel it was an underhanded way to make our bill more expensive so the server would get a higher tip off the percentage of the bill also by the lack of follow up from the person who I communicated with about it all 4 days ago. The Atmosphere is decent and wouldn't tell people not to go but just warn people about being mindful of their bills as the extra money being tacked on...
Read moreI recently had an appalling experience at the Blackrose Whisky Club that left me questioning their standards. When I ordered an Old Fashioned, I was horrified to see the bartender use his fingers to fish out an ice cube while preparing my drink. He then clumsily added a new ice cube, causing a significant amount of whisky to splash out. To my disbelief, the drink was still served to me in this sloppy state.Hoping for a better outcome, I ordered another Old Fashioned. This time, the bartender drowned the drink in bitters, completely ruining its balance. Despite this obvious mistake, the drink was served anyway. Unsurprisingly, it tasted terrible and was undrinkable. The dismal drink preparation was matched by the filthiness of the establishment. Spider webs adorned the lights above the tables, there were smears on the outdoor windows, and dirt was evident in the corners of the venue. It's safe to assume that the quality of their drinks is as poor as their maintenance and cleanliness.Overall, my visit to the Blackrose Whisky Club was a disaster. The lack of hygiene, attention to detail, and basic standards of cleanliness was glaringly obvious. I would strongly advise against visiting this place until they make significant...
