We stopped in at Caraway Grill in Saskatoon on what seemed like a very quiet day in downtown Saskatoon, during the lull between Christmas and New Year’s, in a downtown already somewhat emptied by people working remotely. We immediately noticed that the restaurant appeared to be very clean and well-maintained. The staff was very friendly. The extensive menu had a lot of great-sounding food, and the staff answered any questions we had. We were given complimentary potato pakoras as an appetizer. As for our order, we are no food critics, but it seemed to be of excellent quality, presented nicely, and everything was incredibly flavourful. We had the Malai Kofta which was excellent, and the Vegetable Bunna, which was simply amazing. We shared both dishes and had both with rice and with Garlic Naan. Everything was priced very reasonably and the portion sizes were generous, at least to us - we have healthy appetites, but are not big eaters. After we finished dining, we had a lovely chat with the owner, who came by our table to see how we enjoyed our meal. It was clear after a few minutes of chatting, that there is a real pride of ownership here, perhaps that is why the restaurant struck us as being so nicely maintained. If you like Indian food and you are in Saskatoon, you should definitely plan to dine at...
Read moreSome restaurants are truly meant to fail. Perhaps we arrived on a bad day given the other reviews; however we never made it to ordering because of the experience. We arrived on a Saturday after 5:30 and the restaurant was empty. This was an initial concern but we proceeded to have the server seat us as the environment was quite comfortable. However when it came to ordering drinks, we soon discovered how limited the menu was. After 3 failed attempts at ordering a drink, the server finally explained that their drink menu did not match what was in the physical menu. Despite a wide array of spirits, beer, pop and juices, we were told they don't sell anything but pop, white wine and Great West Beer. This seemed to be implied by the servers demeanor towards my wife. I inquired why the restaurant did not blackout items they do not serve (we were told they don't sell spirts despite a number of them listed on the menu) and the serve balked. I looked at our wife and we left. Thankfully a great local brewery was a few doors down and we were able to receive...
Read moreI recently had a terrible experience at caraway grill saskatoon. The service was appalling from start to finish. After placing our order, the server didn’t even bother to write it down, which I found unprofessional at the time. My concerns were confirmed when, after an extremely long wait, the wrong quantity of food was brought to our table.
When I pointed out the mistake, instead of apologizing or correcting it, the server argued with me, insisting that this was what I had ordered. The lack of accountability and poor customer service was shocking. Even worse, when the food finally arrived, it was cold and lacked the authentic flavors you'd expect from an Indian restaurant.
When we finally asked for delay the staff started giving lame excuses saying we are very busy due to skip and takeout orders as if it is our mistake that we came in for dinning.
The combination of poor service, delays, incorrect orders, and rude behavior made this a thoroughly unpleasant experience for my family. I won't be returning and would not recommend this...
