Trying a new restaurant is always interesting!
Not sure if the food is gonna be food because sometimes the reviews are based on the hype of a new place opening up.
Loqui is not one of those places, it’s definitely a place you wanna try. The mid century modern design is spot on
We tried the Lentil Fries, Shio Koji Wings, Loqui Tiger Steak, and Khao Soi.
For drinks we had the LB Shaft, Liquo Light, and the Strawberry Mango Fizz with a shot of rum.
The Shio Koji wings and the Khao soi takes the top spot with its flavours and savouriness! 100 recommend the wings!!!! The tiger steak was different and not your traditional steak but the marinade grew on us!
The LB shaft was a little too creamy but maybe it’s just a preference for myself as I like my espresso martinis! The strawberry mango fizz was good, it’s non alcoholic but add a shot of rum and it’s a pretty good drink!
The servers were great and accommodating, they are very busy and recently opened so don’t be surprised if your server doesn’t come see you for some time but nonetheless they were great and helpful with the menu.
I definitely recommend trying to get a reservation we got lucky with walking in but i also tried calling 4 times and nobody picked up.
I would rate my experience a 9.3/10 and i would 100% recommend trying it and seeing what you think! The menu is composed of asian style dishes mixed with local ingredients!
It may or may not take the title of “Best restaurant in the city”!
UPDATE: June 14, 2024
Went there for a second time and the vibe as always is great.
The restaurant is going through some growing phases as we had to wait 12 mins to get drinks which is not too long but not usually your typical start. Again they are new and they are busy so be mindful of that. They did also compensate our first round of drinks so props to management for making that effort.
The wings, they were tasty and delicious as usually but was served a raw wing. I’m okay with a little blood on a bone but this wing was raw on the inside and it was chewy. Not trying to steer you because they are one of the best wings i’ve had. These were also compensated for.
The khao soi was different with a more broth this time around not sure what changed but it was different.
All in all still try and support the restaurant yourselves! No one is perfect but can only strive for! Check them out and give them your...
Read moreMy advice would be to go soon as this place is not going to make it. The food was OK. Not spectacular but satisfactory. Burger was cold. Fries were over cooked. Wings were very tasty and worthy of a repeat visit. Chicken in a bun was also well done.
The big problems were with the owner. Several dishes came very late. Our courses wound up on another table. Instead of being honest with us the bobbing and weaving of explanations was beyond ridiculous. “ You don’t understand our food chain “ “We operate many restaurants “. What can I do to make right ? After suggesting a reasonable “comp the wine” she came back with 1/3 of that.
I have dined in 70 or so countries and this owner does not understand the concept of customer service. People detect insincere false apologies. Unauthentic dishonest conversations guarantee reviews like this.
Restauranteurs check out this space. It will soon be available for a professional operator.
ADDITION.
Thanks for your follow up note Kayla. I however must set the record straight. There were 10 of us and we consumed 2 bottles of wine. Over drinking. Really. In addition we had consumed all the wine before your hostess spoke to us. Furthermore you comped 1/3 of the already consumed wine. It’s these disingenuous comments that will be your undoing.
You serve average food at much above average prices. The Caesar salad leaves were brown. You charged an 18 % mandatory gratuity without warning and for very poor service. What annoys me the most is not these significant gaps but you want to double down on why the customer is wrong with inaccurate and deceptive information. The paying public will...
Read moreI think this has a lot of potential but needs to work out a few kinks to really nail what it's going for. We had dinner for four and the vibe was great, everyone was friendly and we had a nice time. A few thoughts! the servers were nice, but I think everyone should be retrained on how to pace a dinner, especially since the menu offers a lot of share plates. All of our food came out at once, which was fine but not ideal especially since the table was small. we weren't sure if all our dishes were served with the correct cutlery, e.g. chicken hard to cut with regular knife, udon spoon also servers make sure to ask people if they want another drink so you can get that $$$ the food descriptions on the menu should be more reflective of the final Dish so dinners can really get a sense of the meal. We were surprised by what some of the dishes actually featured (e.g., the duck/tofu dish was predominantly udon noodles, squash plate was fried) -the food was interesting but the menu and some of the dishes didn't seem cohesive, e.g. rum tiki drinks, next to Asian influenced dishes next to Italian and local heavy dishes. the food was fine but nothing wowed us unfortunately. The sauces of the PFK were a bit odd and sweet, some dishes were overly salty and the texture of the squash was mealy. The ramen was nice. -i did really like how accommodating the menu was for dietary needs!
I say all this not to be critical but because I think this is a wonderful edition to the west side and Saskatoon restaurants in general and I think it could...
