I have one DQ complaint, and it has nothing to do with the staff at this location or this location itself, but with the company and the corporate bosses up at the top... Why you gotta mess with our Bacon Cheeseburgers? Please put our Bacon Cheeseburger back the way it was. We do not like the extra patty with the white cheese on it, and we would hate to make more work for your staff by adding on the necessary customizations to fix our burgers. Adding more meat doesn't always make something better, it just made our burger unbalanced. It's just way too much protein, and it makes the burger feel dry... yuck! 🤮
As for this Dairy Queen location, my boyfriend and I are regulars here, every week, same day, same time give or take, and the service is always wonderful. Our food is always great here, and we love it when our DQ homies hook up our extra pickles big time! They've come to expect us and notice when we don't come on our usual day, I think the staff even misses us if we skip the fastfood, as my goofball partner always gets laughter and smiles in the drivethru. Having worked in fast food myself, in the past, I know how hard this job can be, and it's the little things, like fun regulars, that can turn a bad day around.
It's so sad to read all the negative reviews. I can't help but think perhaps these negative people have forgotten that if you show a little kindness, you'll get it back tenfold. Expecting excitement and enthusiasm when you order a burger in a drive-thru, during the dinner rush, without bringing any excitement or enthusiasm of your own is pretty ridiculous. Please remember that even fast food workers are people, and they've been working through the pandemic and doing their best during these frightening times so that you can avoid cooking yourself dinner. I'm thankful for having the privilege to eat out and for the brave, wonderful people who have continued to keep this privilege going for us. They deserve the same respect as all other essential workers and a fat...
Read moreTwice I've been there now and as all Dairy Queens have teenagers no supervision the service here is unfriendly to the point of being surly. We received are blizzards pre-made as the drive-thru window was backed up so they had them already in the freezer ready to go. One of them was so overflow that it was dripping over the side and they just stuff a lid on top and didn't try to close it getting ice cream on my car. Interaction with teenagers sometimes can be just fine if they are respectful but this staff here on every occasion are NOT nice. From a COVID stand point everyone we could see had a mass except for one guy who refused to wear his mask - and have it hanging from his ears but not over his mouth and he was getting the ice cream for the others. No point in wearing masks is everybody's not doing it.
The previous occasion we went through the drive-thru we pulled into the parking lot just to grab something out of the trunk. Before we even opened the door of the trunk while my car was still running we heard a Dairy Queen kid yelling aggressively that we're not allowed to park. We explained that we're not staying and her just going to get something out of the trunk. It would have been nice if they had waited maybe 30 seconds before they made the determination that we were staying to eat in the parking lot. Over the years it's very clear that the Dairy Queen franchise has very little structure when it comes to training employees and seems to leave it up to each franchisee train their own location. Most local managers likely have no idea to do that as I've made many comments over the years about Dairy Queens in malls and stand-alone locations and they are...
Read moreI am deeply saddened and disappointed by the experience I had today at this Dairy Queen location in Sydney. At approximately 1:55 PM, I encountered extremely poor and discriminatory service from the staff. I was not only denied proper service but was also treated with disrespect based on assumptions about my background. It appeared that I was racially profiled, as the staff seemed to believe I was of Indian origin and proceeded to use inappropriate slang and offensive language towards me.
This experience left me feeling humiliated and unsafe. I even feared the situation could escalate into something physical. No one should feel threatened or mistreated at any business in Canada, especially over something as unacceptable as racial or cultural assumptions.
Canada stands for inclusion, respect, and fairness. When businesses allow such behavior to go unchecked, it tarnishes the values we work so hard to uphold. I sincerely hope DQ management takes this matter seriously and investigates the conduct of the employees involved. Ensuring that all staff are trained in professional conduct and anti-discrimination practices is essential.
As a customer and as a resident, I believe we must hold businesses accountable for upholding the respectful and welcoming culture that Canada is known for. No one should ever have to go through what...
