CHICK•N•JOY — Restaurant in Toronto

I have been a regular customer of chick n joy for the longest while. Since the very first and only location at Markham and Eglinton I’ve been in love and been a regular. I moved to west Toronto about 5 years ago, and still travel 30-40mins just to particularly come to Morningside and Lawrence location. I’ve always favourited this location especially because of the original staff who worked here, definitely miss them. On my visit today I came in and order my regular, 5 piece sweetheart, asked for only leg, thigh and wings. The lady said, very rudely, I can get 2 legs, 2 thighs and a wing. I said to her that’s fine, can I also pay extra for an additional wing, which is what I ALWAYS order. She then let me know that there are limited wings and I can only get one. Which means to me, yes we have the extra wing that you are willing to pay for, but no you can’t have it because we are saving them for other customers. To me, in any establishment, it should be first come first serve. If you have the wings available for customers who are already in your store and willing to pay, why are they being saved for later customers who are not yet there? Anyways I didn’t bother purchasing, and called 2 other locations, Scarborough and Pickering, who were willing to sell me whatever they had available as long as I’m there in time to catch it. I know know to go to any of these other locations to get better...

If I could give a zero star, I would. I have frequented this location for over 26 years and I have never been more disappointed with the service. I selected this restaurant over several other options in close proximity to support a Canadian business and instead was greeted with service unlike anything I’ve experienced before. I was told I’d have to wait 20 minutes at 6:41 pm and even after checking in, I counted seven meals, five of which were placed after mine, be served. I asked several times after the 20 minutes had passed and my order was still being overlooked. When I brought this to the employees attention, one who was in the back of the restaurant jumped in to say everyone placed their orders in advance which was not the case. I was order #39 and saw orders #40-44 get fulfilled. I probably would still be waiting until now if I had not spoken up. The order took nearly double the time with no reason given. This is unacceptable. I spent nearly $80 when I could’ve spent less, gotten better service, and more food for the price...

Alert. Used to be the best chicken joint in West Hill. The taste has been retained. The service staff still is very good, pleasant and doing the best that they can. Yet over time, I believe they went El Cheapo on the chicken. ... The product is smaller and the amount of actual meat per piece seems a lot less in quality and quantity. So much so, would lead a regular customer to believe that they changed suppliers. ... ...... ..... Update: August 4, 2019 ... First they went back up. Now it appears the management has been changed, the product sizes. They cancelled the larger barrels in favour of I don't know what. They increase their "specials" to the point that they aren't that special. Look its still a good chicken product, just not what it used to be. And there is new competition in the Mall within a couple of blocks. I decreased the points from 3 to 2 because I expected improvement, there wasn't. But what the hell they are...
