First off, this place is beautiful inside. It's full of neutral tones, with greenery hanging from the ceiling. It's so lovely and there's lots of natural lighting.
We ordered 2 cappuccinos, which were delicious. The cups are small but they were made very well!
We tried out The B.A.B Benny, which was so good! I love the variety of eggs benedict they offer, there are so many different flavours. The BAB is bacon, avocado, and brie which makes for a delicious combination with the poached eggs, hollandaise, and english muffin. It's like a twist on a classic breakfast sandwich, this one is worth a try if you like brie! I also liked the home fries, they make their own ketchup which I also recommend trying out! Their salad was also very yummy and gave a nice fresh taste to the meal.
We also got the Cochinita Torta, which is a pulled pork sandwich with queso fresco, avocado, citrus red onions, pickled jalapenos and cilantro crema. I was sceptical about this order but it turned out to be DELICIOUS. I love the addition of avocado, there was so much flavour with the fillings, the pickled jalapenos, and the cilantro crema. I would order it again. We got it with a side of tomato soup which was absolutely delicious as well!
I went pretty early, just after it opened, on a weekday so there was no line up. It started to fill up as we came to the end of our meal so I recommend dropping by early! The waitress was super friendly and accommodating. My only remark is that their bathrooms are located right next to the tables along the wall which are a little weirdly placed.
I would also say that the prices are comparable to other nice brunch spots downtown, the eggs benedict range around $17-$19, and the cappuccino was $4 each. However, I would come back again as the food was delicious and I loved the vibes...
Read moreWe just ate at your restaurant on the second floor. The food was decent but the service was definitely not up to standard. Examples : Server did not advise us what was sold out Server did not advise what the special or dessert of the day was. Yet she advised all tables adjacent to us. Server was short and curt with us from the moment we sat down. She did not even introduce herself. When she noticed us asking other servers for assistance because we were afraid to approach her she became slightly more pleasant She did not check in on us once during our meal. My gf helped make my coffee when I first ordered it and she took one sip to check for taste. When i asked for a refill oir server brought a second cup for my gf. And while refilling my cup which she spilt on the table with no apology or cleaning up the mess. Simply saying to us that we are not allowed to share. My gf did not even take a sip of the new cup brought for her. She literally lost her appetite from the attitude and service received throughout our meal.
When the bill came we saw she charged us for two coffees we brought this up to her and inquired about the charge as my gf had 1 sip. Her blatant reply was well thats how bottomless coffee works just like fountain drinks and she had on a i dont care tone and attitude.
Overall our experience due to the service received by her has made us regret dining here for the first time at Lady Marmalade after hearing many good reviews we are thoroughly disappointed. We will not be returning customers.
Our biggest regret is choosing to sit in her section, not finding out her name and having to still tip on this poor service (because we understand that there is tipout from this to the kitchen and bar wnd our experience lacked not...
Read moreDon't see the reason for the hype AT ALL. Menu isn't anything to write home about and food is just typical brunch type things. There are so many other restaurants that do these things better.
I ordered a latte and the Cured Salmon Benedict and my friend ordered the same along with bottomless coffee, the bread pudding and a fruit cup for her child. They had no option for menu substitution and couldn't even offer whole wheat toast or muffin instead of the white for my friend. The server suggested my friend should be okay with the white muffin because she had ordered the bread pudding (it must be entirely made of white bread). It was an unnecessary comment. The bread pudding was for her child.
Whilst the pudding was nice, the Eggs Benny were just okay. The 'cured' Salmon didn't taste like Salmon at all and I couldn't eat much of it. The English Muffin was kind of hard. The salad that came with it was messy (some huge lettuce pieces with some very fine cabbages) and had barely any dressing on it. Our home fries were over cooked and hard. I ate what I could because I was hungry but that eggs benny wasn't worth $17+tax+tips considering my friend's bottomless coffee was never even topped up.
The server suddenly brought out the bills for us and dropped them on the table without asking if we needed anything else and split the bread pudding in half even though it was my friend's order. It was super awkward and I just paid for it.
The space is nice and airy albeit tight. Overall, it was style over substance for me. I don't understand the line ups. I...
