This cafe/bakery has become one of my favourite places in Toronto within a very short period of time. My first order there was the strawberry shortcake to celebrate my anniversary with my partner, and I was immediately impressed by how delicately balanced the cream was in terms of both texture and flavour. It was light but also dense enough to hold the cake together, and the subtle sweetness really helped accentuate the natural sweetness of the fresh strawberries. There was also just the right amount of sponge, cream, and strawberries inside the cake.
My second cake from here was the Belgian chocolate mousse cake, which had just the right texture and that rich chocolate flavor you would expect from Belgian chocolate. Similar to the strawberry shortcake, I thought it had just the right amount of sweetness, the balance of the flavors and different textures was also flawless with this cake.
The most recent cake I've tried from there was the matcha tiramisu cake, which has been my favourite so far. When I tasted the cream by itself, I thought it might be too sweet. However, when I ate a piece with the sponge, the cream and the matcha powder, it made complete sense as the sweetness of the cream was just the right amount to offset the bitterness of the matcha powder on the top. It was such a delicately balanced cake, I was very impressed and happy with my purchase.
This has become my go-to place for cakes for any occasions. I love that I don't have to order the cakes days in advance and can always expect them to have delicious cakes I can pick up and also have messages written on the cakes. The cafe itself has a charming vibe, it's a beautiful and upscale place with very high ceiling. The staff there are always pleasant and do their best to deliver the best products and service. It is tucked away from the main areas of Yorkville, but it is within a few minutes walk away from Bay and Bloor and 100% worth going slightly out of the way to...

The food is incredible! And its not just baked goods either. They have two menus, breakfast (served till 11am but available until they run out of ingredients), and lunch. I had a cream of corn soup garnished with crispy bacon and fresh bean sprouts; did it ever taste fresh! The flavour of the soup was almost like biting into a cob of premium honey and cream sweet corn. I also had a spoonful of my partners borscht and although it wasn’t as colourful as some others it had the taste of a grandmother’s kitchen, very good as well.
The cakes available are all beautiful. I tried the chocolate hazelnut layer cake and it was great! The consistency of the cake was firm but airy enough not to go down like a brick. The layers of caramel like fudge were vibrantly flavourful while staying away from being overly sweet. The butter cream icing was like velvet, smooth, mild, but perfectly rich. I will purchase this cake again the next time I want a special treat.
The staff were very friendly and did a great job making all of the customers feel welcomed and appreciated! The space is clean and welcoming plus they have two power outlets at every table so you can charge your phone or computer while you dine.
Food starts at around $9 and leans towards $18-25 for the mains. Desserts are in...
Read moreHands down the worst interview experience I’ve had. The energy was cold the moment I walked in. The interviewer named Mandy asked me to DESCRIBE MYSELF in five words and when I said bold, she immediately cut me off and said, “bold is not a good word for customer service.” First of all, you asked me to DESCRIBE MYSELF, not customer service. I answered honestly, and instead of listening, she shut it down on the spot.
Throughout the interview, she stared at me like I just stole her purse — no warmth, no curiosity, just judgment. I wish I could show you the look she gave me. It was uncomfortable, condescending, and made it clear that I wasn’t being seen as a person, just picked apart.
Communication was also terrible. Her accent was so heavy I could barely understand her, and there was no effort to make the conversation smooth or respectful. I’ve worked with people from all backgrounds and have no problem with accents, but this was next-level difficult — and made worse by the lack of professionalism.
If this is how they treat people during interviews, I can’t imagine how they treat their staff. Zero emotional intelligence. Zero respect. Total red flag. I walked out knowing 100% I wouldn’t work here even if they offered...
