Typical New York style deli restaurant. Think of those deli restaurants from "When Harry met Sally".
Rather small place, so not many seatings, but the seatings definitely looked like a scene from "When Harry met Sally". The place was also very clean as well. The service, at first, wasn't that great. Particularly when I first stepped in and there was this woman who had her back turned away from me. I had to walk deeper inside the restaurant for someone to get me a table. But my waiter was more than extremely friendly. Even looking on how he handled his other customers, you can tell that his conversations were more than just for tips.
The food was also simple. Like a typical New York deli, it was bound to be Jewish based dishes. I had a simple pastrami sandwich with a side of fries and coleslaw. The sandwich was a simple as it gets, but you can tell it was really fresh, as well as the bread. The fries were also excellent, not greasy at all and lightly seasoned. Honestly the perfect kind of fries. The coleslaw unfortunately was the worst one, particularly because I found a hair in my coleslaw, I'd advise against it.

Read moreA steadfast presence on Bay Street for decades, this eatery has become a cherished tradition for me, even after moving away from the neighborhood. Whenever I find myself downtown, a visit is a must for my favorite pastrami sandwich and latkes.
The consistency in delivering amazing food, top-notch service, and a delightful atmosphere has stood the test of time. It's reassuring to know that the quality I remember from years past remains unchanged.
My husband and I particularly enjoy arriving during their opening and breakfast times, strategically avoiding the lunch or weekend shopper rush. This allows us to savor our meals in a more relaxed setting, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to an already exceptional dining experience.
Sometimes I pretend I really am eating in NYC especially on windy winter days when I hide out here for...
Read moreBeen at New Yorker deli recently and I feel compelled to change my review. The place changed, interior was redecorated and it seems more cold now with less New Yorker details around, the menu shrunk, the food not as good as it used to be... I used to enjoy the place more before.
One of those places that are much better in side than what they seem from the outside. Roomy, high ceilings, interesting art (from the New Yorker mostly) on the walls. Food is a typical diner menu, very good and solid portions. There is a kids menu part as well, and adults have a lots of choices. It is generally busy during lunch time, but outside of that it is very pleasant and quiet enough to be able to have a conversation. They also serve beer, however I am not sure about other types of...
