I stopped by Fat Bastard Burrito Co. in the Entertainment District recently after a long day walking around downtown, hoping for a satisfying, flavorful bite. I’ve been to other locations before, so I knew what to expect, but this particular visit was a bit of a mixed bag.
First, the location is super convenient—right in the heart of the Entertainment District, close to the theatres, clubs, and nightlife. It’s a great spot if you’re catching a show or just need a fast food fix after a night out. The shop itself is small but clean, with limited seating, so it’s more of a grab-and-go type of place, especially when it gets busy.
The staff were efficient, though not overly friendly. They moved through orders quickly, which I appreciated, but it did feel a little rushed, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the menu or want to ask questions about toppings or spice levels. Still, they were professional and got the job done.
As for the food, the burrito was big—true to the brand’s name. I went with the steak burrito with added guac, and it was satisfying, but not as packed with flavor as I remembered from other locations. The rice was slightly dry, and the meat could’ve been hotter and more seasoned. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t blow me away. The toppings were fresh, though, and the portion was generous enough to keep you full for hours.
I also tried their loaded nachos, which were tasty but a little soggy by the time I got to the bottom. Still, the cheese and toppings were solid, and if you’re craving comfort food, they’ll hit the spot.
The price is decent for the size and location, but not what I’d call cheap eats either. Expect to pay around $15–20 for a full meal with extras, depending on what you add.
Overall, it’s a solid choice if you’re hungry and nearby, but don’t go in expecting gourmet Mexican food—it’s fast, it’s filling, and it does the job. I’d probably return if I were in the area again, but I wouldn’t go out of my way. 3.5 to 4 stars if I could give half stars—rounding down only because the flavor wasn’t as punchy as I hoped and the service felt a bit rushed.
Great for a late-night craving or post-event bite, especially with friends who just want something big...
Read moreI purchase a beef burrito for lunch, working from home, so I get home, the entire burrito is spilling oil everywhere. I tried to take one bite, almost threw up.
I call the location to try to explain the situation, no answer. So I decide I’ll go after work and they can resolve my issue.
I get there, I tell her my concern, immediately this lady tells me “I can’t do anything for you”. Keep in mind I have a full uneaten burrito in my hand. I then ask for the owner, “he’s out of town”. Clearly not trying to resolve my issue at hand at all. I asked for the manager, she tells me she is the manager. So I said do you think I came here with an uneaten burrito to get a free burrito? She said “why didn’t you call to complain?”, I show her my phone and said I did call.
She proceeds to ask “so do you want something else, or a refund”, I said, this has been a horrible experience, just process a refund. She then proceeds to say, I can’t give you a refund.
I really hope the owner of the store reads this message and teaches his “manager” about customer service. I get a bad coffee or a wrong drink at Starbucks, they replace it, apologize and add a brownie or baked good for the poor experience.
I can promise you I will never go to this location ever again, what a horrible experience and horrible food I was...
Read moreI went to this location on a late night, around 1:00 am. I ordered a meal, with a can of Coke, fries, and a burrito. Before writing my review, I'd like to acknowledge the fact that there were only two employees in the store, and around 5 paying customers. One of these customers was a uber eats driver, who got up from his seat to stand in front of the counter, as the employees weren't making his order. Once this order was completed, I was up next. I was given a teaspoon of guac in my burrito. When I asked for more the employee abided by turning my teaspoon into 1 and 1/2 teaspoon. I commented on the portion size, but was simply told "no more". Keep in mind this was after waiting 20 minutes for them to complete the other orders. I get that the employees were working hard, but they could've recognized that the positive customer interaction would've been far more valuable than the fifty cents they saved by skimping. After being given my burrito, I had to remind the staff that I'd also payed for fries. After 10 minutes the fries were done and I was able to leave the store. Overall I was not impressed, and while I've previously enjoyed the service here, I don't plan...
