Ok I usually post positive reviews or abstain from reviewing if there is a mild/minor problem, this was NOT mild and I'm shocked about the 5 star reviews, perhaps I'm just "that" unlucky!! I ordered 3 items thru uber eats Yesterday night ( I did not complain there ( only gave thumbs down to the items) because they usually refund money and It's not about money!! Its about food safety !! So I will review here!) noting that I am a BIG fan of Hakka and have tried many great places.
1- House fried rice chicken and shrimp A- almost got injured from a bone !!!( picture attached). B- super odd almost rotten taste!!! I can'tidentify if its from the chicken or the mini corn cobs!! C- stale and very odd taste 3- it literally had 3 mini shrimp pieces and they tasted horrible too. D- the only good thing about it is portion size but whats the point if it needs to be thrown away or it could cause harm!
2- dry spicy Garlic beef "still had suce see photo attached) A- meat is TOUGH B- Same stale/almost rotten taste in the sauce! C- again only good thing about it is huge quantity
3- Chilli Chicken
A- overall "OK" taste, it does have a dark very dark coating tho not sure its from the oil, Taste is ok. B- Big portion.
This was a very very frustrating experience. I seriously hope they up thier Game on food safety!!! Bones are NO JoKE, stale/Rotten...
Read moreOrdered from there several times via SKIP in the last 2 years and it did not disappoint at the start. However the last few times, the beef in any beef dish I've ordered, it's low quality- disappointed. Have tried: momos, sweet corn chicken soup with button mushrooms, Hot n Sour soup, Hakka shrimp fried rice, Hakka house rice, Hakka beef chowmein, Chilli Chicken wet and dry "Drums of heaven" (Lollipop chicken), Jerk chkn chowmein, Chilli Beef in gravy, Eggplant in special house sauce, etc. The servings are smaller then before but still good portions. Two of us usually have left overs for 2-3 days. The green Chillis in vinegar is a must for the Hakka food. Their green sauce that they have as a choice of flavour, is very good. My very latest order last night, the total for 3 dishes and one appetizer via SKIP order was around $53.96 before taxes and fees. After all SKIP fees and delivery, was about $67.74. I was given 2 hot sauce packets and one chilli vinegar ramekin, for 4 dishes at arnd $70 total. I find this insulting for how much food we ordered even after I specified to give sufficient amnt. So this place loses a star for their beef and not enough condiments. My recommendation is to get their chilli dishes dry instead of wet (too much gravy, mutes flavour) and avoid their beef. Their eggplant was melt in your mouth - perfect texture....

If you're craving something spicy and savory that goes wonderfully with steamed rice, you should go and get some Chilli Chicken right now. The chunks of tender chicken are coated with a not-too-thick batter that makes each bite satisfying. The sauce also absorbs the aromatic flavours of garlic, ginger, and chilies, while the onions and bell peppers round out the dish by adding a contrast in texture.
The jerk chicken bowl not only impresses me with flavour but also the generous portions of meaty pieces of chicken and a hefty portion of rice. Each bite offers a spicy, smoky flavour that's well seasoned, topped with a combination of scotch bonnet sauce and a sweet BBQ sauce. The basmati rice and peas have a more mushy texture, which I find a bit comforting, but also bursting with a surprisingly aromatic mix of black-eyed peas, kidney beans and chickpeas where I'd have no problem eating this without the chicken. The addition of canned pineapple chunks also provides a refreshing acidity and sweetness that refreshes the palate...
