As soon as I entered I said “wow”. Love the ambience. It’s soo elegant and classy. Let me start by saying thank you to our server J.C. He was amazing throughout the night and made sure that we were taken care. The attention to detail was amazing. What was good about this place was the live cooking next to our table. We got our Caesar salad and Banana Foster live cooked. I loved the Banana Foster, the combination of Rum and orange juice in a dessert I didn’t know that combo worked so well. MUST TRY. Our server is a good cook along with being an awesome server. For appetizer we ordered the Caesar Salad, Sautéed Prawns and Crab Cake. My favourite was the Sautéed Prawns. It was so I uicy. For Entrees we ordered the Dry Aged Bone-In Rib steak, Steak Neptune, Poterhouse, Fish market selection which was Sea Bass and Macaroni. I loved my 60 day Dry Aged Bone-In Rib Steak, I tried it for the first time and it was worth it. I thought they had put blue cheese on my steak but it turns out that when the steak has aged it gets a cheesy taste and it was REALLY good. The steak was nice and juicy, tender and made to perfection. I got it medium rare cause that’s the way a steak should be eaten. Be ready to spend some money if you want to try 60 day aged steak, it’s not cheap on the wallet. All the steak dishes we got were perfect. Steak Neptune with Crab combo on top was delicious. What I also loved was the veggie selection. Baked potato was crispy on the outside and soft on inside as I wanted. To end our perfect night we got the Belgian Chocolate Bourbon Cake, Bananas Foster and Salted Caramel Creme Brûlée. My favourite was Bananas foster as I had mentioned earlier, second was Belgian Chocolate. Our Salted Caramel Creme Brûlée was a bit salty. Something was off. We brought this to our server’s attention and he was quick to take care of it. Overall this place was 5/5. Ambience, customer service and food were amazing. Would definitely come back.

I'll start with the positives, as there certainly are some. The service was impeccable, very polite and friendly, and everything one could ask of a waiter. The atmosphere was excellent, and the food was by no means bad. For negatives, I absolutely must criticize the portion sizes. I'll attach a picture to this review for reference. As a man who VERY often orders 10 oz New York strip steaks (medium rare, of course), this is either the smallest New York strip steak I've ever seen, or an outright lie. The fries were no better; it seems so strange to me that a restaurant that charges more than $60 for steak would cut corners and provide such a stingy amount of fries. My coworker who I dined with had a similar experience. Her wine was WOEFULLY small for such an upcharge. My vodka was similarly lacking, and to my surprise, they had only bottom shelf vodka. And not even the good bottom shelf stuff. For context of our portion size displeasure, we went to the 7-11 immediately after our meal to feel full, and I only half-joked that my corner store hotdog filled me up better than the steak. The restaurant actually gave my coworker the incorrect dish at first as well. To their credit, the waiting staff was very polite about it. I cannot, however, excuse the sheer mediocrity of the dishes given to us. They were food, and they were acceptable. That is the highest compliment I can give honestly. I have eaten better $40 steaks. I have eaten better FIFTEEN dollar steaks. My colleague as well, no doubt, has had a plethora of better salads, all at a much lower price. To summarize, this is an establishment with good serving staff and excellent atmosphere. They are held back by the pitiful serving sizes and sheer mediocrity of the overpriced food. Whether their failures are that of management or the cooking staff, I cannot say. All I can say is that I much prefered my $3 hot dog.

Dinner for 2 with tax & tip $350. This was certainly a roller coaster of an experience. With reservations for dinner for two made earlier, we are greeted with: "Someone has already booked in with your name and your table was given away." Now my name is certainly not as common as say "John Smith" and was told it was probably a mistake. Yeah, no kidding. Front of House messed up. We are then seated at a table right by the Server's area which provides water and such. Nope, too noisy. I request another table. We are offered a table by the window facing Richmond. Great and we walk over but are then seated on the far end of the bench seat by the kitchen?!? At this point I give up and contend with a full view of the kitchen, plates and all. I am not impressed as my sister and I are not teenagers and well dressed...especially looking around at what people are wearing for a night out. Drinks, garlic toast, fresh oysters and a made table side Ceasar salad are ordered to start us off. All beautifully made and served. A filet with mashed potatoes and a Beef Wellington with mashed potatoes are the main course and do not disappoint. Both medium rare as requested. Our table side Presenter returns to make Bananas Foster for dessert and as with the salad, his skills are obvious. The noise rates at a medium plus and for us, the ground floor is out of the question for our next visit. But luckily I've already scoped "the" table to request on the second floor. The last kick in the teeth was seeing a barely 20 something couple walk in for a 7:30 PM dinner wearing track pants and tops. You're not at the gym. Lack of upbringing, no self respect, a blase attitude...pick one. The smartly dressed Doorman put them to shame.

Took my wife here for our 1st wedding anniversary last night, as we’ve to the original location when we were dating and it was our favorite steakhouse at that time, but we haven’t been back since they moved and opened up at this new location. The atmosphere and vibe set a nice modern take with still keeping the warm cozy feel of an authentic steakhouse ambience, and our tableside server, Brandon, was a delight and fun to talk to. That said, something was greatly missing from the entire experience of our night here this time around compared to our first at the OG location, starting with our first server, Will, who didn’t really give a great welcoming and caring vibe from the start, and felt more vague and robotic through the night. For example, when taking our orders, he did not seem to ask or care to explain the menu or refresh our memory regarding choices of sides for our mains. From the appetizer to the main courses, the food portions were disappointingly small for the amount that you pay. My wife ordered the tableside Steak Diane and when Brandon was finished cooking it, the staff member that was supposed to provide a plate to him for placement was not present, causing him to temporarily place the steak and sauce into the small ingredient bowls that he had. Then once my wife had her meal plated, my main order was running late and when it did finally arrive, it was the incorrect item, causing an additional delay when I had to call the room staff over to rectify. When my correct order arrived, taste in terms of seasoning of everything, was disappointingly bland, and our server who took our orders never returned to ask if everything was ok, therefore I had to wave him over and ask for salt & pepper to enhance flavors of everything we had. Lastly, as mentioned at the beginning, we were here for our 1st wedding anniversary, to which I surprised my wife this dinner with, and I made a note on the reservation regarding this and if they could do anything to make it that much more special for. However, there was no acknowledgement by any of the staff of this nor did any of our servers care to strike up any conversation or ask about our night. Not trying to be too nit-picky regarding this but in the past when I have made reservations at lower tier restaurants, they’ve always made this a point to address at some time during the dinner. It also didn’t help that I heard the waiter ask the table behind us if they were visiting for any occasion to which they mentioned it’s their anniversary.

I don’t usually care to write reviews for every outing we experience but I felt compelled to this time around as the reputation that was left on our minds from our first visit at the original location years ago did not match our expectations from the visit we had last night, especially since we have been on a steakhouse bucketlist crawl since we started dating, this time was...

Over Priced for the service and food received. My wife and I planned for a nice quiet meal at Hy's last Sunday evening; we will give Hy's top marks for style and atmosphere, beautiful place. However the service was not good at all...service started out ok but quickly went down hill. We have both worked at restaurant and bars and always give servers a lot of leeway but at Hy's, to have to ask for ketchup, twice, have to ask for salt and pepper to be brought to the table is not good service. I ordered a drink, drink was finished, server came by twice, to re-fill water/bring appetizers and didn't inquire about my drink or ask if I wanted another. I took my drink glass and laid it right at the edge of the table, so the server would see the empty glass upon his return, and nope nothing as the server took our appetizer plates away, he actaully moved the empty drink galss to the side so he could get the dishes. Finally he came back and stated the mains would be out shortly, then I asked for another drink. If the restaurant was busy we would understand, but the restuarant was at most 25% full. Wife and I both ordered the 10oz striploin medium, her with fries me with baked potato and I asked specifically for no Sour Cream, not really a fan of it. The mains arrived, a runner brought the meals, and my potato was loaded with sour cream. I waited a bit, no server checking in, and proceed to eat the baked potato...again not the end of the world but I asked for no sour cream. My steak was excellent but my wife's steak was like it was from the Ponderosa, small and very thin. Server finally came, wife had then ask for ketchup for her fries, her fries were hot and wife was happy, and the server said, hows the baked potato without the sour cream, to which I stated it had sour cream and he said, "sorry, hoped you enjoyed anyhow". My wife commented to the server on how small and thin her steak was compared to mine....yes I gave wife half of my steak, my steak was much tastier, server said, "I'll let management know about the steak", which mean nothing and we all know it. Server disappearred and we had to grab a passing food runner to get ketchup...wife was not happy.

We got dessert to go, paid the bill, and as we left we were so disappointed with Hy's on what we hoped would be a nice quiet enjoyable meal as we celebrated a milestone. Unfortuantely we will not be...
