update on my review New Review: Last month I went here with my girlfriends and Bonu our server was exceptionally nice. From the moment we sat down till we left. She made our evening memorable. Not only she was very attentive but she also made sure we were well taken care off. And to top it all. She even served us with a surprise desert (picture attached) to make our evening special. I’m glad to say again that Joey’s is back on my go to list.
If you read my old review below, then I would be glad to say that I couldn’t see the old server anymore.
Old Review: I’m writing this review with a very big disappointment for one of my favourite chain restaurants. I have been so regular at Joey ( Yorkdale, don mills and Etobicoke locations) that when the host enter my phone number in their system my name pops up right away, even if I didn’t do reservation and just walk-in. And I was so happy and excited when they opened the King location last year. I go to this location with my colleagues all the time after work. I was always impressed by their quality of service and customer satisfaction.
And like almost every other Wednesday I went for the happy hr for a quick glass of wine with my colleague. We were seated right away by the host and by the time our server came around we were already ready with our orders of wine and fries to share from happy hr menu.
I don’t remember our server name but our wine order took almost 30 minutes to come. 1st they bought my colleagues wine and after 10 mins they got my glass of wine. I ignored it giving them a benefit of doubt as the place was really busy. Our water glasses were not refilled. She didn’t come to check on us and when she came around we just asked for the bill. I usually don’t check the bill but observing our server was so absent minded and the service was not to Joey level, I peeked at the bill and saw that they charged us regular hour price for the fries instead of the happy hour. I confronted the server and she initially reacted as if I was saying something wrong and there is nothing wrong with the bill. And when I pointed out again and mentioned that our order was from happy hr menu, she then went and corrected our bill. Even at this point I let things go cause we all are humans and we can make mistakes.
What really disappointed me that not only her apology was for name sake cause she had a resting face when she said that, but when I was ready to pay, she didn’t hand over the terminal to me. Instead she held it with both hands up on my face and I felt forced to select a tip amount for which I was not comfortable paying for given the wrong charge on the bill and the quality of service we were provided. And then She just turned the terminal for me to tap my card on the back.
This is not the Joey culture Im used too. And it’s disappointing to see that your favourite go to place is loosing its core value which is customer satisfaction...

Our recent dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the warm welcome set the tone for an unforgettable evening. We made our reservation through OpenTable, ensuring a seamless process, and were promptly greeted by the gracious host, Raja, who made us feel instantly at home. The atmosphere was vibrant, with a chic vibe enhanced by a live musician playing soothing tunes.
The hospitality and service were impeccable, thanks in no small part to our attentive server, Henry, who went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. His recommendations, particularly the black cod chowder and the striploin, were spot-on, and he orchestrated the evening flawlessly, making it an effortless and memorable affair.
For drinks, we started with a glass of bubbles from the champagne trolley, which added a touch of glamour to the evening. The happy hour menu tempted us, but we decided to indulge in the main dining menu for a more robust culinary adventure.
We began with the seafood tower, a dazzling array of fresh catches that perfectly paired with a crisp bottle of wine. The yam fries sushi cone offered a delightful twist, while the sushi itself was a showcase of freshness and artistry. The striploin was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful, while the black cod chowder delivered rich, comforting flavors. For those seeking something even more indulgent, we noticed a stunning tomahawk steak being delivered on a cart to a nearby table, a showstopper that left us in awe.
Dessert was a highlight of the night. The Italian doughnuts, creamy cheesecake, and delicate macarons were pure bliss, each bite more heavenly than the last.
The ambiance was elevated by the buzzing energy of a large party celebrating a special event nearby, yet it still felt intimate enough for our small group to enjoy a more personal evening. Whether you’re seeking a casual late-night bite or an elegant dinner, this spot excels on every front.
Our recommendation? Don’t skip the seafood, and if you’re planning a celebration, the setting is ideal for a memorable gathering. The combination of outstanding food, drinks, and the care from Raja and Henry made this an evening we won’t soon forget.
We can’t wait to come back to relive the magic. Five stars for the...
Read moreLatest edit: Visited again with friends on a Friday for happy hour around 4pm, and it was not a good experience. We didn't get offered champagne when we came in and the hostess didn't smile at all, she seemed angry. Our server, Paris, was friendly for the most part but she seemed pre-occupied everytime when we were looking for her, talking with her coworkers. When one of us ordered a second drink, (most drinks took a while although it wasn't really busy), she just did a walk-by and slid/drop it at our table while she was walking by, didnt say anything didnt even really stop, that to me was very rude. I hope she gets better training. I am not sure if service is going down now that this place has been here for a while. I'm lowering service rating for that reason.
---------Original review---------- This location is one of the best ones I have been to. The service was exceptional, and it might be because it just opened and they are doing their best, but I hope it continues. Went here for a date, and as soon as we walked in, they offered Champagne a very nice touch. The decor is lovely along with mood lighting, and the booths are very comfortable. There were a few unique items served only at this location in the menu, we decided to try the spicy crab dip, which was a hit, and recommend 100%. The server noticed we finished our bread and there was still some dip left, so she offered to bring more bread, which was a nice touch. Not all restaurants do that. For happy hour, we tried the shrimp and the chicken satays, the shrimp was absolutely delicious. For dinner we had the blackened chicken, porkchop and the chicken sandwich, the server explained each dish to us which was great, otherwise we wouldn't have known the chicken sandwich came in a burger bun opposed to what we thought it was. Shout out to Saffron, our very friendly and knowledgeable server. Overall, it is a great atmosphere, servers are amazing and the prices at happy hour are worth it. The regular menu prices are on par with any other restaurant in the area. If you haven't checked it out yet, give it a try on your...
