Read moreGot to tell you this is a new spot that I kind of don't want to review because its so good it should be just for "Locals Only"
We sat down around 11pm on Friday and were greeted but a lovely staff of mid 20's something trendsetters who new exactly what to feed us and what are beaks needed on this warm evening, we had three servers hovering over our table which I really dig, service is key to me.
Lets talk about the music and decor before the food... If you like the latest in deep house, old school hip hop, newer hip hop whatever this is a spot, they have amazing sound though out the resto which is a big thing for me, you can hear it crisp and loud while still maintaining a conversation. The look is so cool with comfy bar style seating at hightops, the theme is deff a skateboarding type vibe and don't forgot to check out the bathrooms as they are very cool.
The food was amazing, if you're into snack bar style eats this is the spot as they have no cutlery and its just you, the food and your hands.
Drinks were outstanding with flavour and you could actually taste the alcohol, deff try the Mule (in a cold soup can, wow!) and Tequila drink, forgot whats its called but crisp for the summer and just delish.
We had everything from the yummy sliders to the unreal mini fish burritos. A big highlight was the homemade in house chips and dip, we asked our server and she told us all about how they are made, all in house with total TLC.
The oysters were a huge highlight as they were served without the typical drizzled sauces but rather sitting on a bed of kosher salt and with a little bit of toppings on them, they were shucked super well and slid right off the shell into your mouth and you tasted the sauce with salt. I don't usually order oysters unless in a oyster joint and these were well worth it. Bite sized fried chicken is to die for, we placed a second order!
Without telling you too much more we basically tried everything on the menu and with out a doubt this will becoming one of our new spots for killer cocktails and five star snacks.
I'm really not sure who the chief was but kudos to whoever found them as the menu is well thought out.
Reviewing resto's is not my usual but could not help but to write about this spot when telling a co worker about it this morning and then going online to show them pictures of the food (none really avail yet), found this review space so figured I would write about my new fav resto in...
Read moreIt’s a shame I can’t select a 0 star review here as this was quite possibly the worst service and most disrespectful and incompetent door staff I have ever encountered in my life.
We had a reasonable group, were dressed appropriately and were not disrespectful at any point. We queued as the ancient wanabe Biker bouncer walked up to the pretty blonde girls who all seemed to have reservations. Then we were left outside with another bouncer who let us stand there for a further 20 mins whilst he desperately swiped on tinder for someone to nurse his 1 incher to then say we couldn’t come in.
Now I’ve done the doors for a good number of years. I understand when there’s a group of 10 rowdy lads, but this was not the case. 4 guys, 3 girls, but also why wait that long to say no? When we politely asked what the issue seemed to be he said no groups and proceeded to let a large group in and was then only respectful to those of the same origin as him. I don’t know if it’s racism or if they were intimidated as we were 3x the size of them (honestly seen bigger security guards in the mall, if it kicked off they clearly wouldn’t be able to do anything other than call their mothers) but hey, what do I know? Locals only by name, locals only by nature.
Anyway best of luck to the owner, I recommend looking for more competent staff to be the face of your business and actually work and do security rather than sit on their phones all night. Please rest assured I wouldn’t come back here if you paid me.
For customers, seriously don’t bother. Lived in Toronto for a while, have had a great time at pretty much every other venue and would highly recommend Ruby Soho which is pretty much next door. Excellent staff there, great efficient service and an...
