Toronto | A Hidden Gem Vietnamese Spot We Stumbled Upon! 🔥

Looks better than it tastes. I was really looking forward to trying Mi Mi’s because I had heard great things about them through social media. I ordered the BBQ pork and spring roll vermicelli through Ubereats, and even took a photo because it looked amazing! However, the meal was extremely underwhelming and low-to-average quality. The spring rolls were bland and greasy. The BBQ pork was extremely dry, and also bland. The vermicelli noodles tasted almost stale(?), like it had been cooked the day (if not a few days) before and sat in the fridge for a while. What I did appreciate was the generous helping of sauce they gave (I hate when there’s not enough sauce), but it wasn’t very flavourful and I ended up having to drown my noodles in sauce. I also liked the herbs included in the vermicelli, but they were buried underneath the hot spring rolls and wilted by the time they got here (but I guess that’s to be expected with delivery orders). Overall an underwhelming meal and unfortunately missed the mark for me.

We have been getting takeout and dining at this casual family operated Vietnamese restaurant for years. The family members are friendly and provide great service. Their food has been consistently excellent over the years. The Vietnamese deep fried rolls, shrimp rice rolls (served with great sauces), Vermicelli and noodle soups all carefully prepared and delicious (served with fresh basil and other accompaniments, with beef broth or chicken broth for the noodle soups prepared with good ingredients, simmered for many, many hours. The beef, pork, chicken, shrimp perfectly grilled. I normally don’t eat sausage but the grilled ones available here are good. We had wonderful “platter” today. Delicious! They recently moved next door to 686A Gerrard St. East. Glad they are staying in the neighbourhood!

it's a decent place .... see update below

I've been going there for years

I like the rare beef noodle soup, the coconut curry chicken soup, the noodle/meat platters to make your own rolls, the mango smoothly, deep fried spring rolls, and the condensed milk coffee on ice. dual pork chops are cheap n fun too.

staff friendly, English comprehension so so sometimes, but you order by number anyways

if you stick to those food items I mentioned you will do well. prices are normal for a place like this.

it's not haute cuisine but it's good and it's what it should be

Ive been there 50 times.

IMPORTANT Update March 2017;

I had rated it 4 stars... now 1

We've been there three times this month for soup...

All three times my whole family got sick

Too much of a coincidence.

Symptoms range from acid reflux to huge burps, headaches, temporrary nasal congestion, vomiting, and even a night of 100 mega farts. Awful. We never get sick like that any other time from anything... we are healthy people. I give up. We give up. Its too bad. Staff has gotten forgetful all of a sudden too, and the portions and presentation arent quite the same. I cant believe it but its true. Im wide awake at 330 am writing this, my wife is on the couch coiled up in pain, and i have a headache...

MiMi's was one of the worst dining experiences in a very long time. To begin with, it was only when we opened the menu's that were we informed that its cash only, no debit or credit. The ATM stashed in the corner ( extra revenue-service $$ fee for MiMi no doubt) was not the answer and I had to visit the local bank a few banks away ( I wish we would have simply got up and left at that point). When we asked the lady ( who we later discovered was the owner) she said the owner decided its cash only, she has no idea why the policy is in effect. Talk about misleading info/ outright lies- she was the owner! The food itself contained lots of low price/ low quality ingredients- rice , tasteless water, little if any meat or veggies, and was very poor quality overall. When we paid , one of our party decided to speak out about the food, and the entire dining experience. The lady we spoke with showed little to no interest- not the first time she was on the receiving end of such customer concerns. It is simply amazing that with the cost of dining out higher than ever, MiMi's cares nothing about their reputation, and treats the customer as disposable, replaceable, and assumes that they are dumb. MiMi, we've been coming for years, clearly you do not need our...

I got stuck on a street car last night, so I paired some leftover Uber Eats credits at this restaurant for take out I won't soon forget. The pork spring rolls were buy one get one on the app, and people really got a lot out of their BBQ pork with soup on the side, so I went for those things.

The food was ready within 15 minutes of ordering, and it was incredible. The rolls used a traditional spring roll paper that fried golden brown with great bits of pork inside of it. They were long and the fish sauce was plentiful. A smelly and delightful match made in heaven.

Next up was the equally-as-generous shaved BBQ pork set on a bed of glass noodles. The barbecue pork had a softness and tang that went well with the chewy noodles. You also got broth on the side which I dumped the lime, mint leaves and bean sprouts into (I'm psychotic).

I showed up a few minutes later and waited. Service was prompt. I asked if I could eat it there. Not only were they kind enough to offer me a seat, but they offered me utensils and tea.

I look forward to visiting again soon - I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. If you're dining in versus taking out, I think they are cash/e-transfer only. Bring some...
