This restaurant holds immense potential and, with some key improvements, could easily become one of the top Indian dining destinations in downtown Toronto.
The food shows promise, certain dishes like the Mandi rice and biryani were flavorful and well-prepared. However, there were inconsistencies. The Juicy Chicken Kabab Mandi lacked the juiciness its name suggests, and the Chili Chicken leaned unexpectedly sweet, which may not appeal to traditionalists expecting a savory-spicy profile. The Butter Chicken had an unusual aftertaste that didn’t quite align with classic expectations. On the brighter side, the Ghee Roast Lamb was excellent, and the mango drink with real mango chunks was a refreshing highlight.
In terms of service, a few adjustments could go a long way. Our server forgot one of our dishes, likely due to not taking notes while taking our order, something that could be easily corrected with a simple notepad. Additionally, water should be offered as guests are seated, alongside menus, to set a professional and welcoming tone from the start.
The ambiance and furniture need attention. Several tables and chairs were unstable and wobbled noticeably, which disrupted the dining experience. Addressing this would significantly enhance overall comfort.
The restroom facilities were below par. The basement area was damp and posed slip hazards, with leaking pipes overhead, a serious safety concern. Proper tissue dispensers were lacking, and the space could benefit from regular maintenance, dryness, and the use of air fresheners to improve hygiene and guest comfort.
One piece of advice for the management: use these initial weeks to closely monitor which dishes are performing well. Identifying best-sellers and ensuring their consistent availability can help build a strong culinary identity. While expanding the menu is exciting, too many items may dilute quality and strain consistency. Focusing on standout offerings and making them signature dishes could be a great way to establish a loyal customer base and a stronger brand.
Overall, this restaurant has the foundation of something truly special. With refinement in both food consistency and customer experience, it could rise to be a standout spot for Indian cuisine...
Read moreI recently visited Mohabbat - Biriyani and Mandi Restaurant in downtown Toronto, and I was truly impressed with the quality, flavor, and authenticity of the food. If you’re a fan of bold spices and aromatic rice dishes, this place is a hidden gem!
I ordered the Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani, Veg Keema Biryani, and Mango Lassi—and each item exceeded my expectations.
The Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani was absolutely spot on. The chicken was tender and flavorful, marinated perfectly in a traditional spice blend, and layered with fragrant, long-grain basmati rice. Every bite had the rich, deep flavors that make Hyderabadi biryani so iconic.
The Veg Keema Biryani was a unique surprise. I hadn’t tried a vegetarian keema before, and this version was packed with spices and finely chopped vegetables that gave it a hearty and satisfying texture. A must-try for vegetarians or anyone looking to try something different.
To cool down, I had their Mango Lassi, which was thick, smooth, and refreshing—exactly what you want alongside spicy food.
The service was friendly, and the ambiance was casual yet welcoming. You can tell the food is made with care and attention to traditional recipes.
Highly recommend this place to anyone craving authentic South Asian cuisine in Toronto. I’ll definitely be back to try more items...
Read moreI actually wanted to give a 4-star rating, but giving you 5 stars only because of the amazing service we got from Bindu. We came to Toronto from London a month ago, and this was the amazing experience of service we got till now.
She truly made our visit unforgettable.from the moment we were seated ,she went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and care . It was a busy day at the time when we are for dinein , but she never neglected any other table as well. Her service is on another level - she doesn't just serve , she created an experience for us. Honestly, bindu is the reason I'll be coming back and recommending that place to my family and friends before leaving to London back. I wanted to talk to her personally but didn't get a chance to talk as it's so busy that day. Hope you see this review Bindu . Bindu - u definitely deserve more than a 5 star. Mohabbat team - you got a real gem! 💎
