Our second visit to Muay Thai, a year after our initial experience, reaffirmed its status as a truly unique dining destination. The restaurant’s aesthetic brilliantly designed to resemble a boxing ring immediately sets a vibrant, fun, and memorable tone, a creative thematic commitment unmatched in the local Thai dining scene. This creativity extends to the menu, featuring intriguing dishes hard to find elsewhere. While our overall experience was excellent, the meal was dominated by a clear culinary champion.
We began with two appetizers, the Spring Rolls (6/10) and the Donut Shrimp (6/10). Both were technically well-executed but unfortunately tasted average. The spring rolls were generously filled with vegetables but lacked a distinct, memorable flavour a disappointment echoed from our previous visit.
The Donut Shrimp offered a unique concept (shrimp paste shaped like a donut), yet the flavour profile was indistinguishable from standard fried shrimp. Given the restaurant's inventive theme, this appetizer would benefit immensely from a bolder, house-made seasoning or sauce to truly set it apart and match the kitchen's creative intent.
Pad Thai (9/10) The Pad Thai is the undisputed star and a certified knockout dish. It achieves an absolutely perfect balance of sweet, sour, and tangy, resulting in a complex and deeply satisfying flavor profile. The combination of grilled chicken, tofu, peanuts, and bean sprouts was fantastic, easily cementing its place as one of the best Pad Thais we’ve ever encountered.
Our only minor note is that our request for "Thai spicy" was not quite met, resulting in a mild heat level. However, the impeccable depth of flavour more than compensated for the missing kick.
Picanha Crying Tiger (7/10) The Picanha Crying Tiger is a substantial dish, easily generous enough for two to share. The grilled beef had a subtle flavour that was beautifully enhanced by the accompanying array of Thai dipping sauces. While the dish was good, we felt it could be elevated by serving a different, more imaginative selection of grilled vegetables on the side to better complement the robust cut of steak.
The service throughout our meal was generally excellent. Our waiter was patient, friendly, and took the time to answer all of our questions thoroughly—a true testament to the welcoming and professional staff. However, one notable service issue we encountered was the pacing of the main courses. Our entrees arrived while we were still working on our appetizers, which made us feel rushed to finish the starters quickly to prevent the main dishes from getting cold. A simple check-in or a brief wait before bringing out the mains would greatly improve the rhythm of the dining experience.
The one area that truly needs immediate and significant attention is the facilities. While we appreciate the overall dining experience and ambiance, the state of the washrooms was quite off-putting and detracts from the quality of the rest of the visit.
Despite minor inconsistencies with appetizer seasoning and the critical need for facility maintenance, Muay Thai remains a great place to enjoy truly good Thai food in a very distinctive setting. The stellar Pad Thai alone is...

I'm overjoyed that the attention to detail in the theming of the restaurant also transfers to the food, bringing delicious Thai fare as you enjoy a match of Muay Thai. The picanha was cooked to a wonderful medium rare that reflects its tender texture, with a seared fat cap that melts in your mouth. Seasoned simply with salt and pepper, it allows you to adventure with the two sauces that accompany the beef. One is made from soy sauce and vinegar, while the other is a roasted garlic eggplant dip. The roasted veggies on the side are lightly charred with a fork-tender bite, and the cremini mushrooms were surprisingly juicy. It also comes with a serving of coconut sticky rice that's perfect in every way. Wonderfully moist and soft but still retains that glutinous texture, with a creamy coconut milk aroma that adds a rich undertone to each bite.
The pad see ew did not skimp on the wok hei, fried to a soft bite with tons of smokiness. It's stir-fried with gai lan, eggs and sliced carrots for some texture and served with grilled chicken, lime and a sweet...
Read moreStumbled upon this stunning restaurant and I have to say, what a gem! When we first walked in we were greeted warmly and sat quickly. We first noticed the ambiance of the place. Warm lighting, on the dimmer side but no too dark, so it felt inviting and cozy. It was decorated nicely, and on theme.
We ordered some cocktails and coconut shrimp to start, which were so delicious. And the cocktails were the best, so balanced and uniquely flavored. We had pad thai, pad see eww(beef option) and the crispy catfish and mango salad. The beef was cooked to perfection, soooo tender and juicy. The catfish was wonderfully crispy and paired well with the lightly spicy, sweet and acidic mango salad. The pad thai was exactly what I was hoping for, rich flavors and a very generous portion.
Our server and the bartender were so personable and kind. Checking in to see if we needed anything and refilling our water and clearing our table of empty plates swiftly. We felt welcomed and we never felt rushed. It was a great dining experience and I would recommend this...
