If I could rate this restaurant more than five stars I definitely would! Sadly, we now live in a place where there is no Swiss Chalet. My husband, knowing my great love of Swiss Chalet, planned a surprise 60th birthday party for me when we were visiting Toronto at this place. He had worked together with the owner, Anisur Salim, in secret without me having a clue. When I arrived, everything was so well organized, the restaurant had beautiful balloons for me and even donated a birthday cake! There were about 40 of us there that evening and the owner made sure everything went off so smoothly and the food was delicious! He was very attentive and was happy to have been working with my husband on this surprise. Thank you so, so much for all of your hard work to create such a beautiful evening for me! It was absolutely perfect!

A Swiss Chalet restaurant in Toronto has incurred the wrath of local health inspectors and is shut down until it sorts out the mess, is re-inspected and authorized to reopen. The Beaches location at 2148 Queen St. West was flagged for closure earlier this week after 10 infractions were noted by inspectors. Among these were two crucial infractions including a "fail to protect food from contamination or adulteration" and "food premise maintained in manner permitting health hazard (insects)." swiss chalet toronto The infractions listed at Swiss Chalet Express at 2148 Queen St. E. The restaurant is one of two businesses closed by health inspectors this week. A lonstanding brunch restaurant in North York was shut down after it was cited for 7 infractions. July 2, 2022

Extremely disappointed 😕 Dark meat chicken was undercooked & the cheese in the new macaroni & cheese was split. I would have returned it all but I wasn't feeling very well at the time ~ I had just stopped in to Swiss Chalet on my way home (5mins away) as I wanted some nourishing food to take home to eat before I crawled into bed to rest to try to feel better. I ended up just eating the bun (which was cold) so I heated it up & dipped it in the Chalet sauce and called it 'dinner'. Complete waste of my money. The only positive that existed with my experience was the customer service cashier was quite friendly & pleasant with me while I was waiting for my food to be prepared to take home.

I had a very bad customer experience at this location. I had a Virgin Mobile coupon offer that was $5 off an order of $25. I went in-person to place my order and was helped by who I presume was the owner (based on a description my husband gave me and who has lived in the beaches his whole life). The gentlemen rung up my order which came to $35, I showed him my coupon and it was immediately very obvious that he wasn't happy about it. He fiddled around with his computer for what felt like 10 minutes while I patiently stood there. He then told me he inputted the coupon and my order came to $31. I told him that I literally just saw on the screen that he rung up a $4 coupon, instead of $5 and that the math did not add up. He argued, and I had to explain to him how that did not add-up. He then stood around for another while trying to figure out the codes on his computer. He told me that his system was not able to give me a $5 coupon and I should accept $4. I told him that I'd like to redeem this coupon to Swiss Chalet and that he could make it work. Eventually after back-and-forth, he rung it up to 20% which made it $6 and change. Which in my opinion, seemed like the appropriate thing to do if you can't figure out your codes, you give the customer more not less. After this awkward interaction I received my food and because I felt pretty disrespected by his attitude and behaviour I stopped outside to check my order (festive special x2). Both lindor boxes and vouchers were missing! I went back in and they gave me the missing items and apologized quiet unenthusiastically. I then went home and when my husband cut through the chicken, they were both dark meat even though I ordered white meat and was charged extra for white. I walked back into the restaurant, the owner saw me and kept his back faced to me and instead a woman helped me. Nobody apologized profusely or even acknowledge what an inconvenient, absurd experience I just had. I won't be attending this establishment again. And I can concur with some other reviews that I've had better quality food at other Swiss Chalet locations.

EDIT: I wrote the original bad review on Nov 11th. Swiss Chalet replied to my review publicly and asked me to fill out a form with a reference (#7071110-AA). They said that they have passed my information to the right person and someone will be in touch within 2 business days. It has been almost 3 weeks and I've heard nothing. Please do not respond to a negative Google review and try to look like you care to the public, when in reality you do not even follow-up or resolve the situation....

My rating would have been higher if it wasn't for the man who served me. The food was great the service was great up until the end when I went to pay. The man who served me the whole night hovered over me when I was paying. He pointed to the tip part on the screen and said "That's where you enter the tip". I asked how do I skip that part, I was paying on two separate bills, the first one was a gift card that I still wanted to leave money on so I intended to put the tip on the second bill where I was paying with debit. He said very loudly and frustrated "You mean you want to leave a zero dollar tip?!" He angrily snatched the machine out of my hand put in the zero dollar tip and gave it back, I was too shocked by his behaviour to say anything so I just asked where the option for gift card was and he snatched the machine and my gift card out of my hand (I never asked him to do it for me I just asked where the option I wanted to select was). Once he handed it back for me to pay the second bill by debit, he says very loudly "Don't worry its already set to a zero dollar tip" I was embarrassed because not only did I not understand why he was being friendly to me the whole night just to act like this over the tip but also because I did intend to tip him but on the second bill through my personal bank account so I could keep money on my gift card and now I look like the bad customer for not tipping. But now, since that guy was all in my space and showed me he was only nice until he thought he wasn't getting a tip, I didn't want to tip him at all, why can't he just be nice the whole time, not just until he thinks he's not getting what he wants? I just didn't correct him when he entered zero dollars in the machine the second time. I had been calculating how much to give him for a tip on my second bill in my head, but after he acted like that, I thought forget it. I do plan to go in there again over the holidays as I love their food, especially their holiday meal and like I said I have a gift card, but if I get the same server I won't be tipping. If I get another server who is polite and patient while I pay, I will tip. I didn't deserve that treatment. Servers shouldn't be standing over customers trying to assert themselves for a tip. And like I said, the ironic thing was his little tantrum he threw when he thought he wasn't getting a tip is actually what caused him not to get a tip. I hope I have a better experience and hopefully a different server next...

I rarely leave negative reviews but I HAD to with this one because it's almost criminal that this location is still in business serving poorly made food (amongst other things) with the audacity to call themselves "Swiss Chalet".

If you're new to Swiss Chalet, I STRONGLY encourage you try another location, like on O'Connor Dr. However, All three times I've ordered from this location on Queen Street East, the food was awful, without fail. The chicken was dried out and tasted like it's been under a food warmer for days or tasted as if it's been microwaved (the skin was sweaty). Fries were wet and soggy (again, as if it's been microwaved). There was a foul after taste everytime I had a couple of bites. I could never finish it. By the third time, I was absolutely done with this place. I haven't ordered from here in a very long time and I never will again.

And because it's the closest location to me, delivery services are ALWAYS prompting this one without giving other options and it's infuriating. Which is what brought me here today. I thought I'd check out the reviews to see if they changed their ways but it only looks like like it's gotten worse.

This is NOT okay. The Queen Street East location should have "Swiss Chalet" stripped out of it's title because they do not meet up to the company's standards and they show no effort of improving their business with the feedback given to them. I've had delicious food from Swiss Chalet since I was a kid, so I know what their food is suppose to taste like and the Queen Street East Location does NOT deliver that..figuratively and literally....
