I came here with friends hoping to find a good alternative to snakes and lattes, but Iâm not sure weâll give it another chance. As a board game cafe, itâs really okay. In fairness itâs not as well established or well known as snakes and lattes, I would say itâs perfectly serviceable, which is basically what I expected. I think where things really fell apart for me was the service. Usually something Iâm very forgiving about, and donât mind giving a lot of grace for, but this was service that maybe I would expect from an opening day, as if everyone was on their first day on the job. Service is provided when you press the call button, and I donât know how that system is set up, but I donât think the servers know which specific table is asking for service. Since weâre playing games, we press the call button and go back to the game, but I think the staff doesnât see anyone eagerly waiting for assistance so either ignored the call or thought it was an accident? After a while when no one came by we pressed the button again, and when they went to a different table, we tried again, and a server went to the table next to us, and they said they didnât need anything, and we had to call the server over, and the server admitted they thought maybe someone was just playing with the call button. All this to say something about that system, and the way the staff reacts to it has got to change. Since I think twilight cafe has a really nice food menu, I was looking forward to it, but when I asked the staff about what was in one of the dishes the server said they didnât know, that there was no way for them to know because they didnât make the food in house, which is maybe the most wild answer I could have been given. It was only after my friend pointed out that someone has to know, that our server offered to ask for me. If youâre literally just going to play some games, I think itâs not bad, probably a fun time, but the cafe aspect of it is very amateurish, in my opinion. Maybe Iâll go back after a long while, let âem cook, cuz itâs...
Read moreI had high hopes for this place when I first walked in, but unfortunately, my experience fell short.
I was seated next to their landline phone, which rang repeatedly throughout the night. Placing a constantly ringing phone within a foot of customers is baffling and disruptive.
On top of that, the internet didnât work on any of my devices, which is a major issue for a cafe marketed as a gaming/internet space. However, the biggest problem was the noise level. A group came in to play board games and loudly yelled prompts at each other. I understand this isnât a library, but the noise level was excessive and completely inconsiderate.
While 80% of the patrons were trying to work quietly, the other 20% were playing games which is fine. However just 1 group was so loud that many peopleâincluding myselfâhad to leave after tolerating the noise for about 20 minutes. I even recorded a video to highlight how disruptive it was, despite being seated six tables away (about 10 meters).
I came here expecting a conducive environment to catch up on work, but this was anything but. Iâm surprised the staff didnât step in to ask the group to use their inside voices. This could have been a great experience, but the lack of atmosphere management made it...
Read moreI have had food from most twilight cafe locations and here was by far the worst. I ordered the creamy udon which had more poorly cooked onion slices than the udon. There was even the onion skin in it and who puts the root of the onion that people cut off in their dish. It tasted disgusting and I didn't wanna waste food so I tolerated it and the portion size was laughable. It was so less.
And then to cleanse from that taste we ordered the chicken croffle... Which was another waste of money. The chicken was so hard I caused myself dental ache. We still again ate that because we were hungry and genuinely felt bad wasting food. The lettuce was old and not fresh at all. Though the price was our sanity, wallet and health..
The redeeming part was the tiramisu which I owould've be surprised if someone messes up.
The honey tangerine tea is good though. Our go-to but the butterfly pea tasted like hot water and raw mushrooms.
The selection of games didn't feel sufficientwith considering the traffic they get.
Overall this location was very not up...
