Evening began with a tall male staff member possessing one tenth the personality of a proverbial "Wallflower", asking us to move from a four person window table in a half empty restaurant at 9:00 P.M., to a miniscule square for two directly beside the door in the draft path. When I hesitated, I was told they have another room at the back. My partner opted for the second best choice of tables for two, directly in front of the blinding glare of the rear kitchen. With his back to flourescent lights, I actually considered pulling out my Ray-Bans and becoming one of those who shamelessly wear 'sunglasses at night' out of pure necessity. Oysters and Devilled Egg appetizers were decent, then our mains were thrown on our table with total irritance and dismissive silence by said tall Capt. Personality. Took me five minutes to flag him down to ask for salt, pepper and mayonaisse in an attempt to choke down three cold spears of potato wedges. Brisket Sandwich was satisfying and tasty....slaw completely inedible. Burger was actually perfectly done and delicious...loved the oversized photos (especially of the kitty in the basement) and decor. The deserted front room when we departed irritated me beyond belief. The original, still unoccupied table would have made the difference between a bullsh*t meal and a warm, ambient urban night out. The fact that my partner was violently ill the second we arrived home was disconcerting. As he moans food poisoning, I am assuming this horrfic flu that had taken out a few of my coworkers was the culprit. A preventative sleepless night on the couch later, the same symptoms hit me around 11 A.M. the next morning at work. Not sure what is was that affected us both, but hope others have a better night there...

Also, just a warning: their potato wedges are dense AF, which means not only are they packed tight with amazing warm and familiar flavours, an order of them may seem small but goddamn it you will be filled! And the truffle dressing is luxurious. Honestly, the only thing I don't like is the fact I have to share this place with other "patrons". I'd love this place...
Read moreVery adorable bar nestled in up and coming Dundas west hood. It has a hidden patio in the back, past the bathrooms in the basement and it is positively charming in the summer when all the twinkle lights are on in the evening. The inside is spacious too, airy front room and smaller more intimate backroom too. I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich and it was tasty, small menu but good selection. Friends ordered the burger, pulled pork sandwich, and fried chicken - all...
