Edit: Fast forward a few months from my previous review, and the situation has much improved. We moved fields for the winter season, and, besides some minor issues (One bad referee, and another referee who was over 10 minutes late to our game) the experience has much improved. Games were generally refereed fairly, run on time and kept fun. We have now had 3 games back at St. Pat's and the experience continues to be a pleasant one. Communication with XTSC, which was my biggest complaint in my previous review, has also improved. Our game this weekend was moved to a different time slot, and, unlike our previous experience, we were notified by email with a few days notice. All in all I would recommend one of XTSC's rec leagues to anyone wishing to play soccer for fun in Toronto. It's not perfect, but having decent referees is a blessing and it looks like XTSC is working on the communication issues that were so frustrating in our first season. I'm looking forward to playing this summer, and in the future.
Previous Review: I have been playing in one of their newer recreational soccer leagues for 6 months now. I am not impressed, particularly with the lack of customer service and communication.
Our first season start date was pushed back 2 weeks, which I am assuming was due to lack of interest because they failed to communicate with us at all why it was being postponed. We ended up starting an 8 team league with only 4 teams.
About halfway through the first season, after numerous bad on pitch experiences (including one of our players being slapped by a member of the other team) we received an email about the on pitch behaviour and violence. It was a welcome email, given then frankly absurd levels of aggression in a Sunday rec league. I assumed our league was an anomaly, or suffering growing pains in its first season. But after speaking to a friend, who plays in one of xtsc’s downtown leagues, I found out that he had also received a similar email and witnessed shocking behaviour (including physical violence). It would seem that this behaviour is not limited only to our new league but more establish xtsc soccer leagues as well, which leads me to conclude that either xtsc tolerates this kind of behaviour, or the refs are not diligent enough to prevent this kind of situations from happening. Fortunately, after the email, the atmosphere has improved and the refs are much more engaged in the game, and our second season has, generally, been incident free.
The issue with communication, however, has continued. Last Sunday we were surprised to arrive at our match only to find that it had been rescheduled to an hour prior, and that we had forfeit the match. Our opponents had arrived, on time, though several of their players also arrived with us at the originally scheduled time. After schedule for the new season was released, our team saved the schedule for ease of access (xtsc’s website is not the most navigable, especially from a mobile device). We understand that the schedule can change, but we were surprised that a company, so eager to communicate and share with us all of the news regarding their new leagues, offers, and promotions, would fail to provide even a basic update concerning changes to a product we had already purchased. Ultimately the game does not matter, we would like the chance to play it but we understand that rescheduling it is an unlikely option without consent from the other team. But our emails addressing the lack of communication were met with more silence shows, and only served to demonstrate just how little xtsc care about delivering a good...
Read moreUnfortunate that we don't have a 0 star option here! We registered for a fall league at Lamport stadium which was supposed to start on Nov 5. It's almost a month past the proposed schedule release date and we are yet to hear any news on when we're going to kick a ball! XTSC didn't even bother updating any of the teams about what the hell is going on and we've only heard excuses like "the dome is broken", "the stadium isn't ready" after repeatedly contacting them from our end while other leagues are well underway at the same venue. Keep in mind that XTSC leagues are among the more expensive soccer leagues that you can sign up for, so this is no charity! They've also added some ridiculous refund policies which prevents us from getting our money back. Fair to say, this is the last time we ever sign up with XTSC!!
Responding XTSCs reply to this review: Gathering stadium permits and completing other formalities should not be XTSC member's concern. Members pay a premium price to part take in your leagues and it's XTSC's responsibility to ensure permits etc are sorted out on time. Being delayed by a few days can be acceptable but being delayed by a month or more is out right ridiculous. People have other prior commitments so being tied up for the league timeslot every week for the months to come cannot be an option.
Not sure how XTSC advertised a league and took money from people before they even had permits for the venue. Even if they did, surely they should give teams the option to get their refund if permits are delayed for a certain amount of time. What's with the new refund policies to not allow refunds because of permit delays? What's with the "admin fees" on any refunds when it's XTSC fault?
Toronto JAM sports has already started their soccer league at Lamport stadium.
No, captains have not been kept in the loop on what's going on. Captains/players have had to reach out to XTSC to find out what the hell...

I’ve played with these guys for a few years because it’s seemed like there hasn’t been many other options for officiated soccer. The organization and communication of games and scheduling is horrific.
For free agents, often you don’t find out your assigned team until a couple days before. Same for game times. I’d literally be on group chats with teammates 2 days before game day asking if anyone knew what time the game was. Every frickin week. Despite claims that the schedule would be set out weeks in advance. It’s just an absolute joke. I really don’t understand why it’s so poorly run, why everything is so last minute and disorganized. It’s a huge league with games all over the city, I assume they’re making tons of money and have little overhead. Hire some more employees for gods sake and stop jerking people around. It’s pathetic. Utter lack of professionalism and accountability is unacceptable.
This recent incident is the last straw. Me and a friend signed up as free agents for a league in the harbord area before registration deadline. July 20th is supposed to be game 1 of the season. July 18th, 19th, and even 20th comes and no email. No info nothing. I sent them an email prior and on the day. No response. It has now been 5 days since game 1 supposedly happened and I’ve heard nothing. I can’t seem to find any schedule online either. I call the number I found online and no answer. These people have taken our money and I’m furious. It’s essentially criminal at this point. Plus It’s too late to sign up for a summer league elsewhere. I’ll try JAM sports for the fall.
XTSC: I have paid you for a service and you have no provided it. I paid for a season of soccer and you have not assigned me a team or given me any information. I WANT MY MONEY BACK...
