Since 2001, Yip's Kitchen has provided authentic Chinese Fast Food in the lower St. Lawrence Market. Their menu consists of reliable standard dishes and can get busy during lunchtime with their low prices. Recommended making a pitstop if you ever need food to go!
Their menu offers options from appetizers, soups, dim sum, fried rice, noodles, and some classic mains. They serve items from a hot bar that you can order in person with generous portion sizes! We picked up a Hot & Sour Soup (Large) and Sticky Rice (2pcs) which came to around $10 total. Their take on Hot & Sour Soup had carrots, broccoli, and mushroom. which was different but still delicious and more towards the sour side. The Sticky Rice was done quite well, a bit small in portion but still good for what you are paying. Also, you can buy their BBQ pork per half-pound minimum as well. For the lack of Chinese Food, specifically Dim Sum in this area, they provide a good alternative option and are worth the value!
The staff is very quick to dish out your food in containers. The cashier is very friendly and chats with their customers and recognizes new or familiar faces. They prefer cash if you have it, but can accept local credit cards.
Do note, it can get busy in St. Lawrence market so you might not be able to find tables to...

Since moving to the neighborhood this has become one of my lunch mainstays in the market. The combos give you a great amount of food at a fantastic price. Each item ok the menu is DELICIOUS, but I specifically need to call out the Crispy Ginger Chicken which I cannot help but ordering every single time.
It can be overwhelming the first time you come here as the line is long and window packed not leaving a great view to see what's available and so many delicious options to choose from. There's often one or two additional noodle options behind the counter that are less visible like my favorite the Shanghai Noodles, but the rice and others are great aswell.
The staff are incredibly friendly and make coming back here a recurring treat!
If you're a fan of steamed dumplings the Siu Mai offered with mustard is a delicious cheap treat. I've even come in to get just a single chicken drum stick for under $2 if I needed something to tide me over until dinner.
Highly highly highly recommend paying...
Read moreThis Google review is long overdue! My husband has been coming here for lunch for the past 13 years (and me, the past 5). Let me just say, this place never disappoints. The food is absolutely delicious; some of our faves include the crispy ginger chicken, BBQ pork (char siu), chili chicken, spicy pork chop, szechuan eggplant, and Cantonese egg noodles. We're always amazed by how efficient the staff are, especially when faced with a whole lineup of customers during a lunchtime rush. They're incredibly generous with their portions; we never leave hungry. And the best part is the owner is so friendly and you can tell he really loves what he does.
It's too bad we always forget to take photos of the food because we can't help but dig in....
