Went in for pasta Tuesday, and it reminded me of why I stopped visiting this place for such a long time after being frequent customers for many years.
Food was meh. Lasagna noodles were undercooked as they were still hard.
Service is really where it’s lacking. The server and host were pleasant in their demeanour, but just not as sharp or on point as they ought to be.
It took 10 mins after being seated to even get water on the table. Server was nowhere in sight but when I caught her walking past my table after attending to another table, she just said that she’ll be right with me, which isn’t a problem. What I do have an issue with is when she returns, she walks right past me to attend to the other table she was originally at first. I mean, you already attended to them just prior, and granted I’ve been already waiting 10 mins with no service, it would be more appropriate to attend to me first to take my order before returning to the other table that she was literally just at.
I was also asked if I would like a drink, and ordered a soda, which never came (didn’t care for it anymore by the time the bill came and at least it didn’t show up on the bill, indicating the server forgot to punch it in).
When the food arrived, I had to ask for cutlery as there was none on the table. The host who was helping to bring out the food, apologized and said he thought the table had been set previously.
When I was done with my meal, I asked for a take-out container for the food I couldn’t finish, along with the bill. Only the takeout container came, and I had to ask for the bill from the server a 2nd time.
Again, friendly and pleasant staff (hence the 2 stars) but overall just not sharp or attentive enough, and a little too lackadaisical. The restaurant was also not busy (server had 4 small tables that included mine).
Looks like there are some table side order tablets now, where you can place an order yourself. They looked like triangular advertising stands at first glance so I never really paid attention to the fact that it was actually an ordering screen/device. The host should’ve pointed it out when seating us if the intention/expectation is for diners to do self-ordering through...
Read moreAlways drove by this Boston Pizza and many others for years and years. I decided to try it out on a Monday night for the first time in my life. I was very much impressed. I did not have high expectations as I just thought the place would be old and the food would be heavy but I was wrong.
Server was nice and i was surprised of the decor inside. The decor was new(ish?) and the booth seats were comfy. The menu was new too; there was still that new paper smell.
Ordered the Garden Salad, Onion Rings, Lasagna, and Bourbon BBQ Chicken Pizza. Not much to say about the salad, it's just a salad, nothing special and the veggie did not taste old. The onion rings were very good. It was not overly coated with batter and there was minimal oil residue. Even after finishing the onion ring dish, there was barely any oil on the plate, which is a huge plus and always nice to see. The onion rings were a bit pricey ($11.49) for the amount of portion you get but they were solid.
The Lasagna was delicious and light as well. It did not feel very heavy, salty nor overly drenched in pizza sauce. The pasta was nicely cooked with some light meat sauce and cheese sprinkled on top. My only gripe with the dish is that I wished there would be a bit more cheese and maybe some more meat in the meat sauce.
The Bourbon BBQ Chicken pizza was delectable. The flavors blended very well together. The Bourbon BBQ sauce was a unique and again was not lathered in it, which is perfect for my pallet. The chicken was tender and the red onions, bacon, cheddar cheese, buttermilk ranch drizzle really completed the pie. Highly recommend trying it. The crust was nice and crispy too.
Overall, a solid meal I had here. I left feeling satisfied and not bloated. The flavors were not too salty or oily. The server was nice and checked up on us a few times. In my opinion, the prices were a bit high but quality is there so it can be...
Read moreIt’s been quite a while. Some of it was good… I’ve been ordering from this place more or less since Covid started. There were times I almost relied on it, but it was pretty good for the most part until maybe a year and a half ago right around the middle of 2023. Where I really stopped ordering from this place because they became consistently inconsistent..
Ordering on a Tuesday evening would result in pretty good food. Ordering on a Thursday evening would also result in a pretty decent order. Ordering on a Friday evening or a Sunday afternoon would result in some of the most careless meals I’ve ever seen put together. Some didn’t even look like they were heated all the way through.
Yesterday’s $70 order of barbeque ribs and dessert were absolutely disgusting. The salad was definitely not fresh with way too much onion. It basically stunk up the whole house with onion. The gravy side was not properly packaged and spilled everywhere. The garlic bread was more like a garlic brick. And the ribs were cold with absolutely no barbeque sauce. Not even a drop and probably the most disgusting order I’ve ever received..
I got a refund immediately through Skip the dishes. Almost 4 years of decent orders and I started to realize which days I shouldn’t be ordering because certain crews might have been working or the chef was not on site…
But at this point, either there is no chef or the chef has absolutely no pride in what they do and they allow just about any type of slop to leave their kitchen…
Maybe the owner is afraid of the chef. Maybe it’s really hard to find another chef. Maybe this chef is working for such a low price that the owner is just biding their time…
That’s the last time I’m ordering from this location and I’ve probably ordered around 200 times since 2019 . Maybe even double...
