GUYS ššš this is literally the best boba place Iāve ever been to itās not even funny. I left the shop giggling and jumping up and down I was so excited and happy especially since the whole place was K-POP THEMED!! š I was there right before they closed and the staff was so sweet they even gave us an extra drink which was very delectable. I got a BTS magnet, a Jungkook photo card, and a BTS photo for free. They had this really cute spot in the shop where you can take pictures with BTS props and a background I loved it SO MUCH. Stray Kids is my favorite K-pop group and the owner said that they were going to have a Stray Kids event in a few days and I was absolutely heartbroken that I couldnāt go because Iād love to see it. Also, I felt really welcome there and I felt like I already knew the staff because they were so kindhearted and lovely. For the drinks, I got a passionfruit black tea with mango popping boba and coconut jelly lychee (WHICH WAS THE BEST BOBA DRINK I EVER HAD), a passionfruit black tea with mango popping boba and mango stars (really delicious and cute stars), a passionfruit green tea with mango popping boba, and two mango smoothies. Everything was so yummy. Also, the staff is really generous with the amount of toppings they give which is 5-STAR (Stray Kids reference) behavior right there and thatās one of the reasons why I love them. Iām gonna be honest I never write reviews, but I loved this place so much that I just had to. By the way, they had LE SSERAFIM, TXT, BTS, ITZY, seventeen, and other K-pop group themed things. It was so cozy and adorableš«¶š»š«¶š». All I have to say is that I COMPLETELY RECOMMEND THIS BOBA PLACE BECAUSE ITS THE BEST ONE EVER!!!! šš this place makes me want to live in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdate: I'm still showing up after 1.5 years, as Butterfly is now my first choice when I want a bubble tea that hits the spot. The family behind the cafe (Nush aka "the owner" in my OG review, Anil, Deepa) and Jolina are sweethearts!
OG review ==
Been here a couple times for bubble tea and it's always amazing regardless of K-Pop appreciation. (I'm more into anime, but it doesn't stop me from circling back on the music from my teenage years)
Service is on the extreme side. During my first visit, I showed up at a time where the owner was still cooking pearls, so she kept me entertained by letting me watch Netflix in the back while waiting. She also gave me some small BTS swag for my sister (who appreciates the group). During my second visit, the owner remembered me and warmly greeted me, despite a busy event happening at the time.
Drinks are great. Pearls have the right chew, the strawberry in my strawberry milk tea from my first visit tea doesn't taste artificial, and they're all cheaper than a chain bubble tea shop.
I also like how unlike many other bubble tea places I've been to, Butterfly also offers savoury snacks when you have the munchies (like I did during my first visit). [[EDIT: I re-ordered the pizza bread during a later visit, where the owner clearly explained why it's unfeasible pairing the bread with marinara sauce. It's a good explanation where I received some chipotle dip instead and it's more appropriate for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI don't understand why this place has so many positive reviews. The previous tenant, Mr Mustache, at least served authentic and satisfying bubble tea. Here, every drink is a letdown. The base tea flavors are weak and overly sweet, as if they use artificial powder mixes instead of real tea leaves.
The boba pearls are a mess. Some cups have pearls so overcooked they turn to mush the moment you bite them. Other cups have pearls so undercooked they are practically rock hard. I tried classic milk tea, taro, and matcha, but none tastes genuine.
The fruit teas are no better. The syrups taste artificial, like generic soda concentrate rather than fresh fruit. It feels more like a cheap slush than a nuanced drink.
Pricing adds to the frustration. You pay premium bubble tea prices for corner store quality. Even with add-ons the taste barely improves. The shopās trendy decor and bright lighting seem designed to distract from a fundamentally flawed product.
If you want authentic Taiwanese bubble tea, look elsewhere. Artificial flavours, unpredictable pearls, and high prices make this shop unworthy...
