Coffee shop connected to Per Se Social Corner. The interior is very striking with high ceilings and a sort of art installation (for lack a better word) of a spiral of coffee mugs hanging from the ceiling. It's a little expensive but I think the food and coffee is excellent. All the sandwiches, pastries, and drinks I've gotten here have been great. I've tried the vegetarian focaccia and open-faced toasts and a handful of baked goods and drinks. The focaccia bread itself is amazing, soft with a buttery aroma, and the sandwiches was loaded with vegetables. I don't usually go for the lemon loaf, but I was tempted by theirs because it looked so beautiful, and the texture and delicate flavour won me over. The cakes are interesting and taste great, and are also very pretty. The drinks are made well; obviously they are marketing the coffee (and I liked the coffee) but they also have high quality tea. The baristas that I've seen there have been very polite. I have found that when I order food the prep time can be a little slow, but I've never had a...
Read moreIf you're going to play up the Michelin angle, then I will evaluate it as such. The vibe of the place is ... not great for a coffee shop. I expect to be able to have a quiet time to chat with my friends and enjoy my drink. The fact that it ends up getting shared with the restaurant with all the accompanying noise & music is detrimental. Otherwise it's ... ok. Likewise the service. Not the most efficient, no particular complaints but it skews cold. Neighbourhood coffee shop it ain't. The coffee and the food. Ugh. Such a let down. This is not even close to the better coffee's I've had, even in the neighbourhood you can do better. We had some small eats there and they were also just meh. So the question is why would anyone come here? Cheap eats? No. Coffee? No. Food? No. Service? No. There are so many better options in the neighbourhood. It's not bad, don't get me wrong. Perfectly acceptable. But would not return. You can do more than perfectly acceptable...
Read moreWhile waiting for my appointment, I stumbled upon this cozy spot with high ceilings and warm, inviting lighting, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The outdoor seating was abundant.I decided to try their affogato with non-dairy organic chocolate gelato, and it didn’t disappoint. The chocolate was luxuriously rich and paired beautifully with the smooth, bold espresso—a perfect harmony of flavors. The pastry selection was limited, so I opted for an assortment of four biscotti. Unfortunately, only the cranberry flavor stood out, with its buttery, fresh taste. The rest fell short of expectations. At $9.5 ,the affogato was on the pricier side, but given the quality of the gelato and espresso, it felt like a worthwhile indulgence. Service-wise, it was average. While efficient, the staff lacked warmth and could have been more welcoming. Overall, it’s a great place for a coffee break, but there’s room for improvement, especially in hospitality and...
