SERVICE IS BAD IF YOU'RE POC
Every time I come here the service is bad and I'm starting to believe it's just racism. I have been here about 5 times now because I quite enjoy their pancakes however it always takes way too long for them to be made and a couple of those times surprisingly enough it's because they would "lose our order". I couldn't help but notice the times I've come here that the Caucasian customers around us would receive better service such as the servers would check on them and customers who ordered after me would receive their meal first. And now reading the poor reviews about the service here seems to be from POC.
Today is the last time I'll be ever be going back. When I ordered I said "two orders of savoury pancakes and two coffees", the order was not repeated to me and because I felt rushed by the cashier I did not review my order on the screen and just paid quickly. They gave us our number to be placed on the tables and we received the first pancakes within 30mins. We thought the second pancakes were coming because the server never took away the number on the table as if our order was not done being served. As we watched pancakes be served all around us, and it being almost an our waiting for the second one to come we finally ask and they said they lost the order. Within 15mins they give us the second pancakes but my partner who received the first pancakes have gone cold for he was waiting to eat together. Later as I'm midway eating my pancakes the server comes to me and tells me that the order was actually made for one pancake and if I can pay for the one I'm eating later. I have worked as a server before and it shocked me how poor this establishment has chose to treat their customers. No confirmation of order, no one came to check on us if we had everything because we sat there with one pancake in front of us not being eaten for an hour, and because of their mistake we were not compensated for anything.
Do not go here and give this company money! A restaurant is to feed people, not make people feel bad...
Read moreVisited this friday with my family for my birthday breakfast and have to say i’m very disappointed. Firstly they have no phone number so the only way you can ask questions is through EMAIL…or do your research through others reviews. Secondly we wanted to sit out on the patio therefore when my family of four and I saw an open table which a couple had just gotten up from they sat right down as I went to order. I was greeted by the man at the till whom had long hair, tattoos down his right leg and a total “i’m above you attitude”. I asked a bit about the menu AS IT WAS MY FIRST TIME THERE and was so thrown off from his demeanour as I would assume that if you don’t want customers calling you to ask you questions you may be more open to answering them at the till but apparently not since he acted like I was asking him for his kidney. Thirdly at the end after ordering $80 worth of food and giving him a $10 tip before even being served I told him that our table had just opened up and that it would be appreciated if someone could clear the table of the previous guests food. I got the response “Oh…just so you know for next time don’t sit down until a table has been cleared” HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHEN YOU DONT HAVE ANY POSTED SIGNAGE, A PHONE NUMBER TO CALL AND STAFF THAT ACTS LIKE YOUR A BURDEN? THERE WILL BE NO NEXT TIME. Do not fall for these gentrified hippy tiktok spots. The food took 40 minutes to come out and was so disgusting and disappointing. I hope the owners take in account for that employee making their business look snobby, stuck up and remind him that people may be trying their place for the first time. If you have rules why not post them on your website so I can study them the...
Read moreI took my girlfriend to here for dinner because I’ve always liked the vibe, and she had never been. They were serving pizza from a food truck , but unfortunately, nothing on the menu was gluten-free — and as someone with celiac disease, that left me with zero options. I was aware of this ahead of time, so I grabbed a gluten-free meal from another spot nearby, hoping we could still enjoy the evening together — she’d get a pizza and I’d eat my safe meal there with her.
When we arrived, we sat down, and while she was ordering her food, the person at the counter subtly suggested that we “could eat it in the park instead,” which came off as an indirect way of saying they didn’t want us eating outside food there. A staff member later reiterated the same message to me directly. I explained I was celiac and that their menu had no gluten-free options — I wasn’t trying to disrespect the establishment, I just needed to eat something safe. We still ordered a pizza and drinks, and stayed, but the entire situation felt unwelcoming and awkward.
Look — if you don’t offer gluten-free food, fine. But don’t make customers feel uncomfortable or unwelcome for managing a medical condition. There was a vegan pizza option on the menu — so why not at least offer a gluten-free crust or have a clear cross-contamination disclaimer? Gluten-free pizza is not a big ask, especially in a city like Vancouver. I travel frequently for work in the U.S. and I’m always surprised at how much more inclusive and accommodating restaurants are down there.
The pizza, according to my girlfriend, was great — so no complaints on that front. But if you’re celiac or have dietary restrictions, I’d recommend...
