I'm really annoyed by the service and the chefs at MoMo. My wife and I would go every week for about 1 month because of convenience. I asked the server to please bring us a miso soup while we figure out what we would like to order. She said "no not until you order something". I looked at her "shocked by her rude attitude toward me". They have a miso on their menu for sale $1.00 but they also give complementary miso soups. I said to her to please just go get the miso soup as I could just pay for it if I decide not to buy anything. Can you believe she still refused me until I spoke to the mangager. We have never been spoken to like this. Or had any sever anywhere talk to us with such disrespect for the customer. My wife has been in customer service almost her whole life and understands how hard it can be, but to be treated like this is uncalled for. I would hope others that read this post don't go to MoMo simply on principle of the situation. My wife and wanted to give the service there the benefit of the doubt so we tried to see past this and went back. The sever was the same lady as last time. She stared us down the whole time we were there and I mean OBVIOUSLY. The chef to give us the worst sushi we have ever tried there. We have never been back. We should have known from our first experience we had there not to bother with this sushi place great location crappy service. Our first experience at MoMo went like this. We wanted to eat outside we had dogs with us. (Obviously local) the server said "pay first" or no you can not eat outside. Wierd right? Why have tables then so people can eat outside? 2 great sushi gems better than MoMo food and service. Location just as good or better:)
Overall experience… I’m here multiple times a week and the experience changes every time.
Food consistency, for the most part is in good and great territory. But sometimes it’s almost like if the sushi chef is in a bad mood it translates to how poor the food is prepared. But amplify what you’d normally experience significantly.
Service, leaves something to desire most days. But there is one staff member that stands out among the rest. Not sure if he’s autistic but when you’re sure you have someone else’s order sitting at your table (he delivered unagi, we ordered Philadelphia, teriyaki, and dynamite roll with miso, but all he dropped off was the one) followed by a quick yes it is and instantly walked away. came back, told him again that we didn’t order this said oops sorry, grabbed the order and walked it over to another table and placed it down. Which… I’m not sure if BC Vancouver food laws allow that, but where I’m from that could pose for a restaurant to suffer hefty fines for food safety reasons. The guy with the glasses always has this experience, rude, doesn’t care, completely sucks the energy out of the place. It’s gotten to the point where I peek my head in to see if he’s working and if he’s not then I’ll eat here. If the food was poisoned he would shrug and serve it to me, his apathy is a blight honestly.
Atmosphere most days is great, but more often than not the little side dish bowls are either dirty or entirely gone. But it could also be due to being sat at popular tables.
Overall this restaurant is a solid 3-4* the food is great as I come back weekly. But the one staff member is likely going to cause a lawsuit and I don’t want to be the one victimized by someone genuinely so willfully negligent when handling my food. Such is why I check into the restaurant before...
Read moreWhen we came in they instantly greeted us with Tea and Miso soup - fantastic. Unfortunately for the server she dropped one of the bowls of Miso on to the table which exploded all over my friend and our table. No problem, stuff happens, we moved tables with no fuss and continued along with our meal. When we went to order the three person boat to split the server came back and let us know that they didn't have gyoza's in stock. They offered to pick any other appetizer on the menu, understandable and appreciated. The food came fast which was great. We started with a communal salad, but we weren't brought any extra dishes to eat the salad with. Not so great. Our tea was never refilled, the server never came to ask how the food was. Not so great. The food itself wasn't very good at all, for Vancouver's sushi standards it was terrible. When the sushi came (quickly) they didn't bring any plates to use, the cups felt dirty. We had no table management, and no quality check through the entire meal. When it came time for the bill i don't think it was presumptuous to think we would get some form of discount or compensation for the miso soup at the beginning. We didn't get anything of the sort. Our table felt like the bermuda triangle that no one wanted to get close to.
Summary: Soup dropped on entire table (they said sorry, but didn't do anything after that) No bowls/plates to eat the food with once it came no table management no quality checks no drink refills no compensation for the beginning of service seemed unsanitary
I ended up giving them a 0% tip because I've honestly never felt unwelcome or as an inconvenience at a restaurant before.
