very disappointing experience! I was there yesterday around 11am. It was a mad chaos. Line up out the door as if they're handing out free stuff, staff running around like headless chickens just adding to the chaotic atmosphere... still, I lined up for pastry and a coffee. After I finally got to order more than half of items were no longer available. So I ordered 3 scones and 3 croissants as well as a cinnamon type roll - since that was pretty much all the choices left available at the time. I got to the cash and paid and then patiently waited again. I also asked if my items can be in a box since I am taking it to someone else. When my name was called they offered me several single item paper bags and I said "could you please box it" I am taking it to serve someone else and my hands are full... the person serving me said ok and put the box together in front of me, while taping it on the sides in a big rush so you couldn't open to check what was inside. He was with his back to me when he emptied all the items from little brown bags so I couldn't see if everything was there. I was a little unhappy how that was all executed but I thought ok they're busy I just want to get out of here... and then I arrived at my friend's house & struggled to open the box, still ok, never mind but then I found the cinnamon roll was missing, I paid for it but it wasn't packed with the order... like I said, very disappointing experience and also, I would've rather donated that money then pay for someone's lack of...
Read moreI've always thought this cafe looked so welcoming, and I happened to be nearby at lunchtime today, so I decided to give it a try. Even though it was very busy, I was lucky to grab a table outside on the scenic patio, but the indoor seating also looks very nice. I had a roasted veggie and hummus sandwich, a peach rosemary tart, and an iced vanilla matcha latte. They do really good baking! The walnut bread that the sandwich was made on was very fresh, very tasty, and pretty unique, so much so that the bread was the highlight of the sandwich for me. But that's not to say the filling wasn't also delicious. The peach tart had a delicious buttery but light pastry crust, and the rosemary added some depth to the fruit but didn't overpower it. I liked that the peach filling wasn't overly sweetened. My matcha was great too, again not too sweet. My whole meal was $27, which I did think was overpriced. Although the quality was there, the portions were just not big enough for it to make sense to me to pay this much. I liked the portion sizes, I much prefer reasonable portions to jumbo! But I am not made of money and I don't want to regularly pay almost $30 for a light lunch at a cafe! I might go back on occasion to give some of the beautiful pastries a try, but I definitely won't be adding this to the regular rotation on account...
Read moreI used to go to their Granville Public Market location all the time to get their Heritage sourdough bread. I didn’t realize they had their own place! So I was very happy when I discovered this.
I went there for breakfast and liked it a lot. Their americano was pretty good. I had the artichoke+asiago brioche. I usually eat gluten at other places but their stuff is good quality and doesn’t make me sick. That said, if you are Celiac, of course don’t do this. It is the genetically modified stuff that makes me sick and the additives and other products they use on the wheat plants and how processed cheap wheat flour is. So I can tell this place uses organic and good stuff. Of course if I have a lot of them, it will still make me sick but when I want to have a small cheat, this is where I go to eat delicious bakery items.
I also love their blueberry bread and grape nut bread.
The place has a good view on one side but limited tables with the view. Unfortunately, the people who took these tables didn’t even enjoy the view, I don’t know why, they were either on their phones or simply looking down on their coffee. If you get a table with the view, please do...
