I’m kind of shocked at the positive reviews. I had dinner with a friend here tonight, we walked in at 8pm and staff seemed confused from the get-go. I couldn’t seem to get anyone to explain to me if it was counter service or table service but eventually sorted out that I should seat myself. Except then all of the tables had reserved signs on them, which led to another completely confusing conversation. Finally sorted a table and was expecting to order at the counter but then someone came by to serve us. Which was preferred anyway but I’m still not sure if that’s meant to be the case or they were just slow tonight so decided to be nice after the seating confusion? Either way, it didn’t seem like anyone there had ever served before. Very odd and clunky interactions. The only red wine on the menu by the glass wasn’t available, but they didnt find even know that until after taking our drink order and coming back several minutes later to let us know. The pizza we ordered had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp for quite awhile, the sauce had been so dried out we had to ask for a side of it to make it sort of edible. The crust was the kind of hard, impossible to eat consistency when you’ve over-reheated dough, to the point where I couldn’t even cut a slice in half with a knife. The pasta also came out barely lukewarm. Despite arriving at 8 and with a closing time of 10pm, it was pretty clear by 9 that most of the staff were anxious for us to leave. One of them came and started clearing my friends plate and some glasses while I was still mid-bite on what we could salvage of the pizza. They did offer us a croissant that hadn’t been sold from the day and would have otherwise gone to waste but they also offered to warm it up and that too got hard to chew from being over-reheated. All in all, pretty shocked at the lack of freshness and the reheating of pretty much everything we ate there, the general vibe of the place (not much atmosphere, would probably recommend takeaway rather than dining in if you were able to get freshly made food), and most importantly the cost. For what was served, the price was definitely not justified.
I’d probably be hard pressed to come back here. Maybe earlier in the day is better but if you’re only serving full pizzas, those should certainly be made...
Read moreThis place was so wonderful! When we walked in the whole place smelled like bread and the vibe was bubbly and welcoming. The staff was so kind and patient (we got confused about dine-in vs cafe stuff and they were super nice about it even though they were busy). We got the 4 cheese pizza and it was DELICIOUS. We also got both of the current special cocktails (cherry harvest one and a pumpkin spice one) and they were so good! I also got their honey pistachio strawberry cake thing and I will absolutely be back soon for another one haha. Even though they were really busy (7:30 Friday night) and even though we didn't order as much per person as a normal dinner table, no one rushed us and everyone was friendly, and they brought us extra plates and utensils for splitting. The food was FANTASTIC and very reasonably priced. We stumbled in here sort of on a whim just because it was close to the water, and I'm so glad we did! Can't recommend this...
Read moreHad a dinner here the other day with a couple of friends to celebrate my recent b/d. We've never been to this place before, but wanted Italian and decided to give it a try. It didn't disappoint! My Lasagna Bolognese was very tasty, with the right amount of cheese and sauce (not overly rich and not overcooked or undercooked). Same goes for my friends' dishes: Radiatori Rose and Gnocchi Porcini (we shared). We really enjoyed their Italian Zinfandel - very smooth. For starters we had Caprese Salad and Bruschetta - both were fresh and flavorful. The service was excellent (tip of the hat to Albaro). At the end, we got treated to a set of Cannoli since, after all, it was my b/d :) The evening...
