I've been going to this particular location for several years now, to celebrate MY BIRTHDAY, and also one of my BEST FRIENDS BIRTHDAY as a tradition. It is close to his place, yet quite a distance from my place in South Surrey. It's worth the drive, as I usually have a very great experience. However, I was a little disappointed this last time... (The garlic mashed potatoes serving seem to have just as much red skins in the portion, as it did potato). Another thing that I encountered on this visit, was that despite it already being a definite challenge, trying to drink my strawberry daiquiri through such a tiny opening in the paper straw, especially when it starts to get overly wet, and begin to crumple to the point that you can't even suck up the drink, without a LOT of frustration in trying to do so... (So I took one of those convenient extendable metal straws that a person can buy, from my bag. It has a bigger opening to suck up your drink). Unfortunately, it proved difficult this time, because I noticed that the ice particles were too big on the most part, to be able to drink it. It made me so frustrated with this endeavor, that I left over half of the drink in my glass when I went to pay the bill. I wish that the Keg would take it upon themselves, to remedy a much better way to make this experience more delightful. Especially when a person like myself, is putting out an average of $200.00 for 2 meals. (A possible solution: 1) Provide a bigger opening straw to drink the drink. Especially since it has ice in it. 2) To be sure to crush the ice in smaller particles, unless they get a straw mentioned above. My intention with my detailed review, is not to criticize the establishment (as I've enjoyed, and shared many great experiences over the years with this business location. Yet, to bring it to their attention, because many other customers that I'm sure have experienced the same situation, but afraid, or shy to bring it up. With a possible solution to remedy this unfortunate situation to improve that situation, so that everyone involved, can both benefit from the improvement. I thank you in advance for taking the time to consider what...
Read moreWe have been seated at a high top table next to the bar. Not a problem if the table which where pushed together would have been at least stable enough so you can lean on them without to be worried that a glass will start shaking. Also I had a seat on the side, which was to far a away from the table and really uncomfortable. I had to half stand/half seat while eating. Service was slow and only young people who seem to not really care. We had 3 different people ?! First drink order tools almost 30min to get served, than also they forgot to let us know they out of rib steak.
After the dinner it tooks the service more than another 30min to clean the tables. Some people left some food, which is fine if you clear those plates later, but they where clearly finished, so no point to take that long.
Then another waiter came and asked for desert, brings the menu, but never returned to ask for an order (...) So we decided not to order desert, but also no one was around that we could let them know we want to have the bill. After another 15min, I had to walk over and get someone!
Than while we start to pay the waiter almost gets distracted by chatting with the group, but unfortunately that was already the point where it was to late and it did feel like he only did that to get more tip.
While leaving, i had two older people.... so I asked if it's possible that someone from service can call a taxi and let them know, that the couple already walked down the stairs in direction of w Georgia St. But than she sayed the taxi is gonna stop at the Rolex store, which is the complete different side of the building. Shouldn't be a big deal to let the taxi know to drive around(...)
The keg is an Canadian owned and I wanted took my group here for there final Evening in Canada to experienced some good local steak and general dinning. But I'm very disappointed about the service at that restaurant. Last time we went to keg Dunsmuir st and no problem ?! Also the restaurant wasn't even full or...
Read moreTo be fair, I felt like the server was thoughtful in realizing their deficiencies. They did comp us our appy's and drinks.
However we've visited this location while in Vancouver for the 2nd time in last couple months. The KEG usually never fails...but this location i think needs management to their front of house team desperately.
We got seated in the lounge and the poor bartender was struggling to keep his heat afloat with tending to approx 12 customers plus making the drinks for other tables.
We got seated, waited 25mins before getting our order taken (drinks included). Waited another 15mins for drinks, he forgot mine and my husband got his Pop ok, he didn't give us any water either.
We waited an additional 20mins for our appys,
I had to ask for everything even cutlery to be brought to our table. 45mins after appys our dinner finally showed. My hubby order a Lobster tail and he got no butter like The Keg is classic for providing. His potato was not loaded like he ordered and they did not do the double baked like he asked.
When our dinner arrived we requested more drinks and they didn't show up until we were done.
We just wanted out and wanted to go it took approx another 20mins to flag down a person to get our bill. There was LOTS of staff but nobody seemed to be helping this poor bartender out?
I likely won't be returning to a KEG for awhile and I used to LOVE the KEG.
The topper was as we walked out, I saw mice running across the front door and patio section which just totally crossed me out. We got out of there ASAP...caution on this location folks.
I too have been contacted by The Keg before for remediation but when I did email them they did not reply or offer anything more. So I don't expect anything from this review just help your poor staff out and balance the hands on deck so customers don't experience...
