Overall experience was ruined by my main waitress. I went yesterday for dinner with a friend and immediately after entering I could tell that the waitress did not like us very much. She was rude and short off the bat when asking us if we wanted water. To other tables around us when she first came, she introduced herself, was all smiling, and explained what kind of waters you offered, however for us she simply came over and said “hi ladies, is water to start off fine with you guys.” Then when it came to ordering, she was able to explain in detail what the specials were for tonight, what she recommended, the different types and much more. In contrast, for our table she simply asked “are we ready to order.” This is my first time in any restaurant being treated like this. Besides that, it was impossible to get service from her. After giving us the menu she disappeared for 20 minutes and didn’t come back to check up on us until my friend had to get her attention. When the food came, we also took notice to how cold it was. In total between the two of us we had gotten three mains and all three were extremely cold. But during our whole dining experience she also never came to see how the food was. After clearing our table, she also had no intention to show us the dessert menu, whereas the table beside us received seamlessly after their table had been cleared. At first my friend and I wanted to see how long she would go to not notice us, but after 20+ minutes we could no longer wait and had to ask a passing by waitress for it instead. However, our original waitress came back with it instead, showing that she does have the time to manage her section. Once she gave us the dessert menu though, without explaining it or what type of special dessert for the day she once again left without saying a word. In contrast to table beside us who upon receiving the menu from her, got an explanation. Again, after getting the dessert menu, we waited for quite a while (10minutes) before she came back and said “oh tonight we have xxx special” then left without asking if we were ready to order (which we were) which lead us to wait another ~10 minutes before my friend caught her attention before leaving the table next to us when we were finally able to place our final orders in. I hate to have noticed this, however it is to note that all the tables around us that she took care of were of Caucasian descent whereas my friend and I were clearly of Asian descent and much younger. I myself work in the culinary field and would be appalled if one of my servers had treated a customer like this. Food wise, I feel like it was also not up to the standards. The risotto was way too salty, was extremely undercooked yet some parts were cooked okay (meaning it was extremely unbalanced), and lacked the taste of mushroom. The same thing with the squid ink pasta, it was definitely not al dente and was undercooked as well. Overall I am extremely disappointed and will not be...
Read moreI am genuinely perplexed by the high ratings and Michelin recognition. We spent $250, and neither the food nor the service came close to justifying the cost.
My husband booked this restaurant for my birthday dinner with seven friends and family. Given the reviews, the menu, and the location, I was excited—but the experience was deeply disappointing.
To start, we were seated right by the entrance, despite the restaurant being nearly empty on a Tuesday night. With only two or three other tables occupied, we expected attentive service, yet it was painfully slow. While our waitress was friendly, she made several frustrating mistakes—soft drinks arrived after some guests had finished eating, and despite knowing about my surprise birthday cake, she handed out dessert menus, forcing my family to remind her and completely ruining the moment.
Then came the food—an absolute letdown. Two main dishes (beef cheeks and duck) were unavailable, and no alternatives were offered. For a restaurant of this caliber, it’s unacceptable not to inform a large party in advance, especially when many of us had reviewed the menu beforehand. The remaining options were uninspired, and the execution was subpar.
The “pesto pasta” was misleading—it was simply green-colored pasta in butter sauce, with no actual pesto as expected. The menu should clarify that the pesto is in the pasta dough, not in the sauce.
The ragu was shockingly dry, lacking both sauce and meat, and the pasta was severely undercooked to the point of being inedible.
My veal-stuffed pasta was minuscule, with barely any filling.
My husband’s steak was one-third inedible fat that wasn’t rendered properly.
To top it off, they served a soup spoon with dessert. At this point, it felt like a joke.
Portions were exceptionally small, and while I understand fine dining focuses on quality over quantity, every dish should be well-executed. Instead, we left unsatisfied and had to stop at Mcdonalds on the way home.
This experience was far below the standard expected from a Michelin-rated restaurant. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it and...
Read moreWe went to Carlino’s to celebrate my husband's birthday. The restaurant is beautiful so upon arrival the whole group was impressed with the atmosphere. We got there 20 minutes late because traffic was bad. We apologized for being late and the server was nice about it. Cocktails were nice. Food was just okay, and service was bad. Took about half an hour for us to get our appetizers and following that I think it took more than an hour for food. My husband ordered lamb chops and asked for medium well, server said she’ll request medium and if he was not happy once food was ready, she’ll send it back to be cooked more. As expected, my husband was not happy with medium and asked for the meat to get cooked more, server took the plate away and brought it back 2 minutes later and nothing had changed. My husband ate the meat but did not enjoy his dinner. My mom ordered Risotto Tartufo e Funghi and did not like her food, so I ordered another pasta for her. My mom does not drink wine/alcohol, and I mentioned that to the server to avoid any sauces that have wine in them. Unfortunately, once the new pasta came, they mentioned the sauce is infused with wine, so we had to reject the food. The waiter seemed to be frustrated and asked if we want to order something else and we said no, and he just walked away. I expected a bit more from a fine dining restaurant than “you said you want a pasta with Pomodoro sauce, oh shoot it’s infused with wine, do you want me to put something else in and walk away”. Dessert took about 45 minutes to arrive. By this time everyone was tired and bored of waiting. Tiramisu tasted good, gelato/sorbet was okay, Panna cotta was not good. A few people in our group finished their dessert faster than others and since dinner had taken way longer that it should have, they left. At that point the server rushed to me with the bill without me asking for it. The remaining people were still having dessert and tea, so I found the arrival of the bill without me requesting it a bit rude. In general, I did not enjoy my experience at this restaurant, and I don’t think...
