This review is long overdue as this is my first time making one. World Class no class customer service: Cares only about the almighty dollar. No longer a well run restaurant with lack of communication among the staff. Will no longer ever attend here as I was cast to the curb and caught in the crossfire with no compensation or compassion. Manager is a coward and has a lack of customer service when a serious issue arises. On a good note as of this altercation I found a much better restaurant with far Superior food. Check out the Ramsey's Steak House at the River Rock Casino. They know how to treat people right. They made time for me when no one else would:
Original review on face book was as follows: Yesterday was a very fulfilling day. It all started 2 months ago when I asked my mom if she wanted to do something special for her birthday. I told her I wanted to take her out to dinner to somewhere special and unusual she had never been to. The original plan was the Top of Vancouver Revolving Restaurant. Made Reservations and told them we were flying in for just dinner, and then booked the flight. 2 1/2 weeks ago I got a call saying that the restaurant would be closed and under renovations. No notice at time of booking, no hint of maybe, the schedule was not even "BLACKED OUT FOR AND UNKNOWN REASON and just out of the blue cancelled. Through an assortment of correspondence after booking the flight I was very much told a shitty to bad so sad situation and was basically tossed to the curb like a piece of trash and a coward of a manager that hid behind a keyboard not knowing how his and his staff (Top of Vancouver Restaurant) screw up and very poor planning had put me in a bind with a NON REFUNDABLE plane ticket! No compensation or anything towards a future credit at the Revolving Restaurant. Fast forward to yesterday which was my mom's birthday! We got on the plane.
We headed out with a new reservation to Ramsey's Steak House at the River Rock Casino which was next to impossible to get into without planning. I called and prayed and very calmly explained what had happened. The Hostess found us not only a table but one within our time frame so that we could have dinner and be back at the airport to come home. The experience was amazing!!!!!! Everything was perfect right down to the plates being cleaned around the rim when coming out of the kitchen and not just slapped together. Mom and I had a very nice dinner and everyone was very attentive from the water being filled right down to dessert. So in spite of the kaos in the beginning things really ended up having a very gold lining and my eyes are opened! As for the Top of Vancouver.....they can totally be kicked to the curb in my book as walking to get to the restaurant is not so nice from the train station. Have had the view and everything is well over rated and in comparison the food is sub par to say the least in comparison to this experience at the River Rock Casino Location! Did not mind paying a little more as 100% perfection is a tough act to follow. Thank you to Ramsey's Steak house for making my mom's...
Read moreWas here before and give a five star review. Went there to try the dine-out event today. The experience today is awful, ruined my day, before making the reservation, I called the restaurant and been told we can only order happy hour menu before 17:00, and dine-out menu and regular dinner menu are only available after 17:00, so we can only make reservation for 17:00, but we went there earlier to see if it’ possible for us to take some pictures during the day time, because it’s my friend’s first time visiting Vancouver, and wish to take picture during both day time and night time, when we arrived, we been told it’s not allowed, it’s fine, we wait there for an hour, it’s lucky it’s just a little bit dark, but not completely dark. After we seated, the server is pretty nice to us from the start and till the end until we got our bill. We ordered the dine-out menu which says $65 on the top, and the server did not mentioned anything about the extra charge during the whole session when we are ordering our food. We didn’t notice there’s a second line says add on when everything else on the menu are remain the same font and style. I have been to several restaurants with the dine-out event but it’s the first time this happened. The server, name Summer, did not mention anything about the add on price. Even for the bread that’s served before the meal, most restaurants provide for free, she just ask do we want it, and after I ask is there a charge and she answered yes. We paid around $120 each, then what’s the point to try this restaurant for the dine-out? And for two people, there’s a service charge she put into our bill without asking. I can hardly ever accept these. I’ll tell all my friend about this place and mention them to see clearly when they plan to go there. Never went here for your dine-out event experience. If u never been to this place and wanna some experience, u can visit here, and to be honest, the view is nice, but the food is so so, the price is only for the view at most. If u only want to try the revolving restaurant, go CN tower, it’s way...
Read moreMy wife and I celebrated our ten year wedding anniversary here. I made a reservation a few days in advance. We arrived at 3:15pm and stayed till 4:50. At 5pm is the Happy Hour crowd. The elevator ride from ground floor to the restaurant is quick. The view through the glass is beautiful. Once inside the restaurant we confirmed our reservation and we're promptly seated at a table by the window. Once seated we took in the bird's eye view of downtown, Stanley Park, the harbour, the port, the train yards and the Skyline that add personality and cinematic tone to our postcard city. I went with the seared Ahi Tuna and my wife ordered the New York Steak. Before our meals arrived we selected the Soup of the Day: Lobster Bisque. It wasn't bad but there is a background flavor of oyster that was a bit strong for my tastes. The tuna and the steak were cooked perfectly. Our server Julia was amazing. She was prompt, professional and informative when we asked about the meal selection. My wife was interested in the Wagu beef but Julia let us know that the Wagu comes raw which was very appreciated. Because it was our anniversary, the staff kindly gave us a beautiful card wishing us all the best. And we also received a delicious cream custard dessert with fruit care of the restaurant. The view is really spectacular. I don't much care for heights, but for my wife and our anniversary I placed my anxiety on pause and took in the view. There are signs below the window panes saying not to touch the glass. A word to the patrons. Please do not kiss the glass or smudge the windows with your finger prints. I noticed while enjoying my meal that someone had pressed their lips to the glass with lip gloss. It is off putting to see this especially when eating a meal. The view is stunning and on a clear day you can see for miles everything around you. Thank you Revolving Restaurant staff and management for making our tenth wedding anniversary memorable and delightful...
