Winter Bear is now my new go-to for bingsoo. They do everything perfectly. Everyone who works here is amazing!!!!! Here is my review on some of the items that I tried from their place (I've visited multiple times now haha).
Drinks... Fresh Strawberry Slush - Really refreshing and perfect for the summer. It comes with clear jelly and I also love clear crystal boba topping that you can add on. There is also real strawberry inside the drink.
Peach Slush - Also another refreshing summer drink that I got with the crystal boba. It doesn't have that overly artificial peach flavour which I really enjoyed.
Bingsoo... Build Your Own Bingsoo - They have a build your own bingsoo option which is really cool. You can pick your own base, toppings, ice cream etc. I went with a matcha base with matcha ice cream, whipped cream, cheesecake topping, and rice cake with frosted flakes on the bottom.
Matcha Red Bean Bingsoo + Matcha Strawberry Bingsoo - I personally prefer the red bean version over the strawberry version because I don't really like the tartness of strawberries. This bingsoo comes with matcha ice cream. I like how the ice cream isn't completely frozen when they serve it to you so you can actually dig into it with your spoon without destroying the bingsoo mountain. Red bean tasted good too. Matcha bingsoo is my favourite item from this place.
Mango Cheesecake - I got this bingsoo to go. They have also have snack sized bingsoos which is perfect if you just want a small one to yourself. Mango cheesecake is probably my second favourite bingsoo flavour. It comes with a regular milk base and mango and cheesecake toppings. I'd recommend this flavour bingsoo especially if you have younger kids.
Injeolmi (Rice Cake) - This is the flavour that I would choose for my Asian mom. It's not too sweet and the rice cake toppings have the right amount of chew. Overall, a very simple bingsoo that you can't go wrong with (unless you don't like rice cakes).
Brown Sugar Boba - That's right they even have a brown sugar boba inspired bingsoo. Comes with a milk base and brown sugar boba as toppings. There's also vanilla ice cream on top. It tastes just like boba so if you like bbt I'd give this favour a try. I also asked them to put some clear boba in.
Lastly, I would like to mention that they include a little serving of condensed milk with all bingsoos. I really appreciate the service here (hence my long review). The employees truly care about the customers here and will help if anything tastes wrong or off. I'd HIGHLY recommend you give Winter Bear a try because the desserts here are amazing and I believe they are a family owned...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is my favourite shaved ice spot in Vancouver! I came here multiple times within a week.
Iāve tried the mango cheesecake bingsu and the banana cream pie bingsu.
The mango cheesecake bingsu is so good. I can literally eat this everyday and wonāt get sick of it. At first I thought there was too little mango but as I keep digging through the bingsu, there were cheesecake bits as well as some mango chunks. It was actually a perfect amount.
The ice cream is vanilla and it matched perfectly with the shaved ice. There were also condense milk to pour over. I think the first layer you donāt really need the condense milk, but it definitely made the flavour taste consistent when you pour it halfway. The shaved ice is milky rather than just frozen ice and I think thatās a nice touch. Near the end there is frosted flake cereal. That was so surprising for me and I didnāt expect it. Itās pretty good since it adds a nice texture. And even when the shaved ice melts, the milk goes well with the cereal.
I also wanted to try the strawberry cheesecake bingsu but they were sold out of the syrup unfortunately. I tried the banana cream pie bingsu instead and added a whipping cream on the side.
The banana cream pie bingsu is delicious too! Itās somewhat similar to the mango cheesecake bingsu but I think the whipped cream enhanced the flavour.
Overall, I really recommend this spot! The shaved ice are a bit pricey, but the flavours and texture was amazing! Every bite of the shaved ice is interesting and I donāt...
