Decent food horrible service. I would give this negative -4 stars if I could. I dine out all the time and have had better service almost everywhere. We had a reservation for 12 people (couples dates, plus 1 child) for 7:30. There were not enough sets of cutlery/bowls/cups of half of us, it wasnt a big deal but we did ask for more and didn't get any so we asked again, no utensils or anything to eat with until 15mins after the food was served hahahah. We ordered quite a bit of food, beers, and 3 iced teas-we didn't get the drinks until 40mins later when reminded again. We never got any tea or hot water to start off with throughout the whole meal.

When we finished the appys no one ever came to remove the empty plates/even they came to put the main dishes on the table: and they clearly say there was no room, but kept trying to shove stuff over to fit everything. I got tired of all the clutter and started clearing it myself on to one of the many empty tables beside us. My friend asked for some more Kimchi side dish and they said we can’t have more unless its a refill/ which I didn’t understand so I said yeah ok/ I wouldn't mind paying for more anyways: 20mins later no kimchi, So I asked another waitress and she said we only do refills, so I asked her what she meant, (they mean like the will take the dish back and refill, you can’t have another new small bowl of it), so I friend said sure anything works. She was so mad and aggressive saying “what one, where is the plate?” There are literally so many empty side dish plates on the table, but I said oh theres one right here. She screamed at me and said, “well I cant see any, THERES NONE!!!” then sighed loudly and walked away. We were all so confused. She came back 5 minutes later with some more kimchi and slammed them on the table and said, “NEXT TIME MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THE OLD DISHES!”, I replied with, “Oops sorry I didn’t know what you meant, theres so many side dish bowls here, we didn’t clear them away”... she sighed and walked away.

I used to waitress for 5 years, I would never treat anyone like this. Terrible terrible attitude, it wasn't crazy busy either. At the end around 9 they were cleaning up other tables and made sure to let us know they were closing soon 10pm, they were clashing dishes and shoving chairs. We settled the bill already and self packed our leftovers already, and were just finishing out beers at 9:30 and she said we’re closing soon and finally squished in to clear out table and make us feel like we’re in the way.

The bill had 18% tip included because we’re a group, and I understand that, But I feel like they didn’t deserve 80$ in tips for the way they “served us” at all. My partner and his friends are excellent tippers, they ussually tip 20-30% when we go out because they understand the struggle of the service industry, so we’re not mad about how much, we just feel like they treated us so poorly because they knew their tips were going to be good no matter what lol.

I just feel so bad that I booked this for our special date with our friends and I feel like I ruined their nights. So highly not recommended. Spend your $600 at anywhere else. Bye bye YOOK, I...

Dinner with the family at Yook Korean Grilled BBQ & Bistro. Featured here:

Bibimbap Haemul Soondubu Haemul Pajeon (Seafood and Green Onion Pancake) Sweet Rice Drink

Bibimbap is usually served sizzling hot in a stone bowl. The rice at the bottom gets crunchy, and the whole dish in general tends to be a very warm, hearty and comforting meal. This Bibimbap however, was served to me in a metal bowl. Not only did it come in a metal bowl, but the rice was served separately from the veggies and fried egg, in a smaller separate bowl. This was really quite a disappointment as I'd been looking forward to have the sizzling hot bowl of rice that I'd come to expect from Korean restaurants.

The Haemul Soondubu on the other hand arrived at the table with bubbling hot soup in it. This was my second choice and I really wish that I had ordered this instead.

The Haemul Pajeon was nicely done, and the sweet rice drink which I hadn't had for a number of years, was as tasty as I remembered it being.

There were other meat dishes on the table but people started eating before I could take any photos! The meat dishes were already prepared though. This wasn't the kind of Korean BBQ where you get to cook the food yourself on a grill. That was a bit of a disappointment as we'd brought an out of town visitor here, and had hoped to give him the experience of Korean BBQ cooking at this dinner. From the name of the restaurant, we thought there would be grills on our table, but...that wasn't the case.

If I could give zero stars…I would. We had a reservation for 7pm and were seated promptly. We then waited for like 10-15 minutes before we were talked to and asked what we wanted. The male server with tattoos was genuinely nice but I’m giving the service zero stars cause of the other coworker.

After we were asked, in about 15 minutes our food was served by the female worker who constantly proceeded to aggressively put the plates and cutleries on the table. The first instance was her making my chopsticks drop on the table when I rested it in the plate cause I don’t want cutleries like that touching the table. The second instance was her aggressively dropping the tong and scissors on the table and just walking away quickly without looking back or apologizing. Mind you, we’re black (my brother and I). I really don’t know if there was a motive behind that due to our skin colour but that was definitely not fair. Other customers that were clearly not our race and were treated nicely by her and she did not drop their plates aggressively. I voiced how I felt to the male coworker and he apologized, but no form of apology was received from the girl and she constantly walked past our table.

Let me not get started on how most of the food was bland. This is my second time at Yook, my first experience couple years back was amazing and I thought it was be the same, hence why I came back but never again!! I can’t believe in this day and age, people still give services according to your skin colour. What a mess!!!...

I was so hungry yesterday. After class, I had to drive to Abbotsfordwith my bf, but I still ordered a spicy beef tofu soup to-go and ate it in the car. I finished it just as I got onto the highway. When I called, the staff who answered was super sweet, energetic, patient, and polite. She told me the food would be ready in about 15–20 minutes. When I arrived at the restaurant, my order was ready right away. The staff member was just as cute and friendly in person. The restaurant looked bright and clean, and the many partitions made it feel just like eating in Korea. Even before eating, I was already so happy with the experience. When I left, the staff member said goodbye multiple times and even gave a deep bow. I don’t expect servers to bow, but I truly admire that level of service. Even though it was a takeout order, the spicy tofu soup came in a big bowl. The broth was rich and flavorful without burning the throat, perfectly seasoned—not too salty—and I finished it to the last drop. It had lots of vegetables and a generous amount of tofu. Even by the time I finished it with the white rice, there were still plenty of ingredients left. She recommended the beef version, and to be honest, it’s not easy to peel shrimp while eating in the car, so I was really happy with that choice. Next time I want Korean food, I’ll go straight to this place. I don’t know if it’s truly authentic, since I’m Taiwanese, but I enjoyed it so much. Thank you all!

Came here for dinner last night after reading all the positive reviews, but had a terrible experience. On the menu there were two types of grilled pork, pork belly and pork bulgogi. I specifically avoided pork belly because I have a sensitive tummy and hate fatty meat, and opted for the pork bulgogi which is typically leaner pork shoulder in any other Korean restaurant. The dish came to the table and I was horrified by the amount of fat and grease in the dish. The picture attached shows just how much grease there was in the dish, a shocking amount which honestly grossed me and my friends out. I literally had to spit out half of the dish cuz it’s all fat, barely any meat. I feel deceived since the I specifically ordered pork bulgogi, but got pork belly regardless. My friend ordered the pork bone soup and it was way too salty that she couldn’t drink it at all, so the kitchen had to take it back to remake it. Lastly, our water jug wasn’t refilled not even once throughout the whole night, we were all thirsty and we had to try really hard to get the server’s attention to get some more, which is another disappointment — especially after reading other people’s review on how good their service is. Even this morning, my tummy still feels upset from all the fat and grease from last night’s dish.
