One of the most welcoming atmospheres with fresh healthy and yummy food options - and so cozy to study in - they have their heat on and its warm and the seating is very comfortable! The food is fresh and delicious - it feels like your in your own living room as the staff is very friendly and the food is served fresh and hot from the oven! You can also enjoy a chilled beer or wine - At closing time, they start closing activities and people take their own cues to leave instead of the staff asking people to leave! I found the culture inside the cafe extremely welcoming ! They also play a nice closing song about going home at closing time ! I think its very cool that they don't come and tell you the obvious. The other amazing thing is that they are open til 9 pm! That is the most amazing thing as you can sit and enjoy fresh food at anytime of the day and also pair a coffee, beer or wine - whatever the mood maybe - its one of the best lounging joints in vancouver for professionals to hang out , most other places close early or serve unhealthy food or sugary treats or are missing the wine or beer … also free wifi and outlets available here for workaholics and students - we need more places like these with positive quotes...
Read moreThis is a favourite of mine for a quick meal downtown. Their menu offers a healthy take on Lebanese food, but it doesn't have the plain vibe that you may associate with "health food restaurant" - instead, you will notice that everything on the menu is made with pure, balanced, no-nonsense ingredients. It's a very comfortable environment to relax and enjoy a meal; I love the cozy booths and armchairs. I've tried a large assortment of the vegetarian selections off the menu and there's nothing I've tried that hasn't been delightful. It's all clean and simple but flavourful food. My most recommended items are the wild zaatar manousheh in the savoury category for a slightly different take on zaatar manousheh, ashtalieh for dessert, and Lebanese coffee if you like really strong coffee - I'm not recommending these because they're necessarily the best on the menu (I don't think any particular dishes really rise above the rest), but because they were the most memorable in terms of being something I haven't tried elsewhere. The service model is fast-casual where you order hot food or choose from a selection of ready-to-eat items at the counter, and staff brings food to your table in a timely manner. I have always found the staff to...
Read moreWe weren't familiar with Lebanese cuisine, but were pleasantly surprised by our first visit for lunch.
The large dining space is clean, modern and bright. Food is brought to your table if you dine-in, although it feels like cafe seating with a mix of high tables, booths for 2, plush chairs, etc. I had the Classic Zaatar and added mushrooms. For $6.49 (+$1.49), it was an affordable meal option! The sumac spice was very strong, and I was glad to have added the mushrooms to diversify the flavour profile. With the toasted sesame seeds, it had a gritty texture. The flatbread was great! My friend had their Hummus Avocado Wrap ($12.99). They found it tasty with a variety of vegetables like tomato, avocado, eggplant and bell pepper. This wrap was served cold in a spinach flatbread. The one issue was that the wrap leaked a bit (likely a mixture of the chili spread, olive oil, and moisture from the veg), making it a bit messy when eating. We shared the yam fries ($8.99) which came with a small dip (spicy, perhaps chipotle). This was a miss, and we'd skip it next time around.
The food tasted very fresh, and they provided us with ice water when asked....
