Upon entering the establishment for a family dinner, we were immediately greeted by an unpleasant and pervasive odour that marred the ambiance.
The restaurant was surprisingly uncrowded, allowing us to secure a table quickly. Shortly after that, a server named Priyanshu approached us with a warm welcome, offering water and instructing us to access the menu via a QR code. Her demeanour was the epitome of politeness and hospitality.
The restaurant's interior presented a lacklustre aesthetic, compounded by music that was not only excessively loud but also ill-suited for the setting, resulting in an overwhelming sensory experience.
The state of the washroom was deplorable, with refuse scattered across the floor, further detracting from the dining experience.
Our order consisted of an array of dishes: a full Goat Karahi, Sultani BBQ Chicken, Nihari, family-sized Naan, and Dum biryani. The wait time was extended to nearly thirty minutes. In the interim, Priyanshu graciously served us complimentary mango mint margaritas, a delightful reprieve.
The first dish to arrive was the Dum biryani, courtesy of server Mohika. While the chicken was commendably tender, the rice lacked authenticity, evoking the sensation of being reheated in a microwave.
A short ten minutes later, the BBQ Sultani Chicken made its appearance. Despite its savoury taste and succulent texture, the serving size was disproportionately small relative to its cost.
Subsequently, after a brief interval, Mohika returned with the Goat Karahi, Nihari, and family Naan. The Nihari, though flavorful, was served in a portion so meagre that it paled in comparison to other Pakistani eateries, leading to a sense of disappointment.
Conversely, the Goat Karahi was a culinary triumph, boasting tender, juicy meat perfectly seasoned with a harmonious spice blend. Yet again, the portion size was a letdown when measured against the offerings of similar establishments.
The saving grace of our dining experience was the exceptional service provided by servers Mohika and Priyanshu. Their outstanding hospitality and customer care were commendable and deserving of accolades.
I implore the management to consider the following recommendations:
Moderate the volume and selection of music to reflect the family-friendly nature of the restaurant, as opposed to the current nightclub-like atmosphere. Please play some decent music at a lower volume.
Furthermore, attention must be paid to the cleanliness of the dining area and the washrooms, and eliminating the offensive odour is imperative.
Enhancements in the quality, quantity, and portion sizes of the food are essential to ensure that the pricing is justified.
I remain optimistic about the potential for improvement and look forward to revisiting to witness the...
Read moreIt took me some time to write this review as I was hoping to get an answer back from the management, and then I was out of the country for some time. I have a very bad experience with the service and integrity of this establishment. I am surprised why there are so many great reviews about the food and service. The food was OK, nothing to rev about it. We ordered appetizers which were ok but chicken Karahi and goat Karahi were dry and no flavor at all. I had out of town guests who read the reviews and wanted to try. Beside the food, service was very poor as the server did not seem to care , not sure since were a group of 9 including 3 kids perhaps. The server did not explain that the gratuity has already been added, fair enough, however when I settled the bill, I did not realized that the service charges have already been paid and added another 15% tip as the system prompted for the tip. If the service charges have been already added to the bill there should not have been a prompt or should have been reminded about this. I did realized this next day when I check the bill and called tye resturant. First the person on the phone didn't want to take any responsibility for the error why there was a prompt, however later said that she will talk to her manager. I followed up next day and was told that they will refund and that I should give them my email address and they will send me an etransfer. I haven't heard back from them nor seen any refund. I am very disappointed as this is a kind of scam to get service charge first and then prompt for tipping as well. Not only the food is pricey, not above average for what they charge and a very bad customer service on Parr of the management. I am really disappointed that with thier great online reviews and presence, they will do such a thing and will overcharge and then not honor their commitment. I will never go there again. I didn't intend to l write this review, but I am truly...
Read moreWill NOT be a repeat customer. No paper menu, you must use your phone. Then we tried to order the shrimp Karahi (part of their new menu addition) and was told it’s been discontinued. If you’re going to discontinue a dish or dishes, take it off the online menu or tell us before we start going through the menu. Next I asked for plain rice. Nope, not available. They have veggie pulao for $8 but no plain basmati rice. I mean come on. You have plain naan but no plain rice. So we ordered 2x garlic naans and a the boneless chicken karahi (kboys). The naan was fresh and good, the karahi was good, not great but not bad either. Nice touch serving it in the wok they cooked it in. Lacks a bit of richness in the flavor to the curry. I was going to order more dishes but after the shrimp and plain rice was not available, just didn’t think it was worth trying anything else.
Price is high. I’d much rather go to the Host than come back here. $30 for that bowl of curry chicken. $10 for 2x garlic naans. No paper menus, half the items not available, not really worth the high reviews online. So many other great Indian and Pakistani places in the GTA to go to before this.
Some constructive feedback for the owners:
I know Covid brought changes like online menus but not everyone has a mobile device, not everyone has a data plan and not everyone has good eyesight to read off a device. Some people prefer reading off a traditional menu. Have some set aside.
update your menu or instruct your staff to run through the menu to inform the customer what is available and what isn’t. This saves some time for everyone involved and avoids disappointment
you have rice, and plain rice is a base for all your rice dishes. Add plain rice to your menu.
review your prices. Your boneless chicken curry both from quantity and flavor is a good $20 curry dish but a very expensive $30 dish that has little value for...
