DENNYS IN THE NORTH OKANAGAN: ⭐AUGUST 2019: There are only 2 gals who deserve a 5 star for putting up with management at Dennys. Ever since Sharon and Amanda left, plus the renovations, management has brought Dennys down to an all time low. My friends and I used to go to Dennys 3-5 days a week. Now we are lucky if we go once every 3 months and that's just for coffee!!! Dennys Head Office has no clue how to keep good employees!!!!!! UPDATE AS OF JAN-2020... Refuse to even go to Dennys at all. The price of food keeps going up but the taste is very bland, plus the portion sizes, are not worth the extra pricing. Customer service is terrible. My friends and I, are lucky if we go once every 6 mths...and thats being generous!!!!!!!😒 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐UPDATE AS OF JUNE 2023... Thought we would give them another chance... I have to say, that in the past few months, Dennys has really stepped up. Shocking I know but am not kidding. They have a Gal Manager, Bertha, who's sole focus, is to make sure that your dine in experience is the best it can be. She was helpful and answered some questions we had. Then there was RAVALEEN.(RAV for short) She's very welcoming, patient, has a genuine kindness about her. Willing to listen to what it is you want and if you are undecided as to what you want, she will make suggestions. The cooks in the Kitchen deserve a special shout out too. I know most of them, are from India and their cooking skills plus the great tasting food, is a huge bonus! My friend and I decided to go for a coffee a few months ago. She was craving wings but was hesitant, due to the poor quality of food. We were shocked, to say the least! The wings were AMAZING! The meat inside, nice and tender and the outside, perfectly cooked. Not burned or crunchy dry. We just kept looking at each other and back at the wings and were so surprised. Especially for a Dennys. Have been there more often now and have had their pancakes with strawberries, the Country fried steak and the Skillets are also very good. If you are undecided, try the Sampler. Sometimes a variation of choices, get to be the best idea yet. The Grand Slam and burgers are tasty too. Went back a few days ago and we were waited on by NATH! He is also from India.🙂 He was very polite and helpful and engaged in conversation with a Smile. Considering he had only started 7 days earlier, you would never know it. The way he spoke, one would think he had worked their for ages. According to Nath, he has worked within the Hotel and Food Industry, all over the world. I asked him, "Why Dennys?" His reply was,"Why not?" Good answer. Suffice it to say, my Friend and I, are looking forward to our next cup of coffee, perhaps a Sampler and engaging in polite conversation! Went there for a Build your own Grandslam and we were waited on by Bertha, right before she was off her shift. I have a Dennys app on my phone and for some reason, it was glitching with Dennys in Canada. Suffice it to say, she was still able to honour our deal with a Smile and we were very thankful. Everything came out perfectly and it came out exactly as per our request. The Supervisor was very attentive...making sure we were happy with our Breakfasts and frequent coffee top ups. Let me begin by saying, Denny's in Vernon WAS one of my top five restaurants to visit. During Covid-19 we did not go to the restaurant, but instead have ordered and picked up our orders. I'm not sure what has happened in over two years to this restaurant, but I've never been so disappointed! We went into the restaurant...the greeter was solemn, and gave the impression we were inconveniencing him. After we were seated, he disappeared and returned 10 minutes later to take our drink orders. By that time, we already knew what we wanted for food, but he said he only takes the drink orders. He brought the drinks and another 15 minutes passed until a waiter came to take our food orders. He was inexperienced and not well versed in the menu items. We placed our orders and he disappeared. 25 minutes later the food arrived. The portion sizes were way smaller than what we were used to and the prices higher. I always thought of this restaurant as family economical, but it is no longer that way. My son looked at his food and laughed. He said, what am I supposed to do with this? The small burger was gone in a few bites and he was left hungry. We were charged extra for the sauces when they came with it but because they were asked to be put on the side. My omelet was half the size of others in the past. Normally, I have trouble finishing it and end up taking it home and have it for lunch the next day. The toast wasn't toast but looked like plain warm bread. When I asked for it to be fixed I was made to feel like I was inconveniencing the guy. I asked for grape jelly as there wasn't any on the table and he walked away in a huff. I guess the customers aren't supposed to have what they've ordered??? YET they couldn't do enough for the tables around us. They didn't even ask how our meals were. I had to wait 15 minutes after we were done eating for our bill and at that, I had to ask for it and wait for it to come. I said to my son...Can't complain about the service here, there is none!! I paid for our bill without a tip. I didn't feel like we could complain at the restaurant level because of the way we were treated so I'm writing this directly to you.
